People Have Noticed

By Alan Caruba

“Apres moi le deluge”, “After me, the flood” and though attributed to the French King Louis XV, historians believe it was actually said by Jeanne Poisson, Madame de Pompadour. The last members of the monarchy spent France into the poorhouse until they had their heads separated from their bodies via the guillotine.

People have noticed the same eerie disconnect from the suffering of the populace as Barack and Michelle Obama party on. There has been a succession of vacations topped off by Michelle in Spain on the U.S. dime. Keeping track of the vacations, about seventeen this year, has become a media pastime.

Twenty months into his first and last term, President Obama, has wasted a trillion dollars we didn’t have on a stimulus package that was little more than a wish list of pet projects for Democrat congressmen and bailouts of the teacher’s unions whose members would otherwise have to join the long lines at the unemployment office.

People noticed.

Obama has had notably little success in foreign affairs, failing to draw the line with the Russians on issues of defensive missiles in Europe, managing to insult the British in a dozen ways, and being mocked by the Iranian leaders as they get ready to fire up a nuclear reactor.

People noticed.

When he finally decided what to do in Afghanistan, he made the announcement at West Point, including a date when the new infusion of troops would leave. The cadets slept through the speech and the Taliban circled their calendar for 2011.

People noticed.

Barely in office a day, he was all for closing down Guantanamo until he learned there was no place for the detainees. The states did not want them in their prisons and foreign nations did not want them for any reason. When his Attorney General wanted to try the mastermind of 9/11 in New York City the outcry was deafening.

People noticed.

Many of those he wanted to appoint to his administration turned out to be tax cheats or had to withdraw due to charges of unethical behavior or corruption. Despite a pledge to drive out the lobbyists, a number of appointees were lobbyists. A whole slew of “czars” turned out to include a number of loonies who were either outright communists or who believed weird science theories.

People noticed.

Despite widespread, vocal opposition, Obamacare was forced upon an unwilling America and now we are learning it will increase costs and deny care, just as we knew it would.

People noticed.

Bush had his Katrina, but Obama had the Gulf of Mexico oil leak. His administration mismanaged it beyond belief and then he arbitrarily shut down oil production from other rigs, adding more people to the unemployment lines.

People noticed.

Obama used the occasion of a Ramadan dinner at the White House to wade into the controversy regarding a plan to build a mosque within two blocks of where 3,000 Americans died from an Islamic terrorist attack. Then he had to back off what he said.

People noticed.

Obama appointed two women to the Supreme Court, both of whom think the Constitution was written on silly putty. One had never been a judge.

People noticed.

Muslim murder at Fort Hood, a failed Christmas bomber on a commercial jet, and another failed bomber in Times Square. The response to all three incidents was slow and very, very politically correct, tip-toeing around using the word “Muslim.”

People noticed.

Rather than take dramatic action to stem the flood of illegal aliens along the southern border, the Obama administration brought a suit against Arizona at the same time twenty other states are writing and passing similar legislation to enforce immigration laws. Then they threatened Sheriff Joe Arpaio with a legal suit charging that he was anti-Hispanic!

People noticed.

Which side of the fence?

June 30th, 2010 . by TexasFred

Which side of the fence?

Have you ever wondered which side of the fence you sit on? This isn’t just a re-post of an email we’ve all seen many times. Read past that part. I was sent this again today and for some reason I was inspired to write the post below the email. I hope you enjoy it!

If a Republican doesn’t like guns, he doesn’t buy one.
If a Democrat doesn’t like guns, he wants all guns outlawed.

If a Republican is a vegetarian, he doesn’t eat meat.
If a Democrat is a vegetarian, he wants all meat products banned for everyone.

If a Republican is homosexual, he quietly leads his life.
If a Democrat is homosexual, he demands legislated respect.

If a Republican is down-and-out, he thinks about how to better his situation.
A Democrat wonders who is going to take care of him.

If a Republican doesn’t like a talk show host, he switches channels.
Democrats demand that those they don’t like be shut down.

If a Republican is a non-believer, he doesn’t go to church.
A Democrat non-believer wants any mention of God and religion silenced.

If a Republican decides he needs health care, he goes about shopping for it, or may choose a job that provides it.
A Democrat demands that the rest of us pay for his.

If a Republican reads this, he’ll forward it so his friends know how to vote in November!
A Democrat will close it because he’s “offended”.

We’ve all seen this come around in an email before, it’s been out there for a while.

I’m not a fence sitter, I’m not a middle of the road kind of guy. I have long felt that standing in the middle of the road only got you one thing, RUN OVER! I stand firmly planted on the RIGHT and I make no apology for doing so.

I am NOT a Republican. I have made that clear on many occasions, but I can agree with this original email because the Republican that is used in the above narrative is a real Republican, not some PC wannabe, or a reach across the aisle appeaser or, the most dreaded of all, a damned RINO.

Re-read the above and replace the word Republican with the word Conservative. Then you have me and MY stand on life in America.

One thing the above narrative doesn’t mention is ILLEGAL immigration.

Conservatives aren’t against immigration, they simply want to see the law of the land enforced.

Democrats welcome, and want to give amnesty to the law breakers.

I have stated many times, I am the grandson of an immigrant. I hold nothing against immigrants as long as they come to this nation LEGALLY, strive to become Americans, work, pay taxes, go about their lives like other Americans, raise their families to BE Americans, in every sense of the word, and make some sort of positive contribution to this nation.

The Democrats, on the other hand, welcome ALL to this land, no matter HOW they got here or to what purpose they came.

They are welcomed with promises of amnesty, a Social Security card, welfare, healthcare, food stamps, free education, (free to them) and myriad other government and social programs that are unavailable to the average American citizen.

Conservatives have respect for the laws of this land. We respect the Constitution and we KNOW that it was written by men far wiser than ourselves.

Democrats want to usurp the laws of the land and either rewrite or destroy the Constitution, the very fabric of America.

Threats linked to health votes prompt security

Threats linked to health votes prompt security

Unrest over sweeping federal health care legislation has turned to vandalism and threats, with bricks hurled through Democrats’ windows, a propane line cut at the home of a congressman’s brother and menacing phone messages left for lawmakers who supported the bill.

The FBI is investigating the instances, which include shattered windows at four Democratic offices in New York, Arizona and Kansas. At least 10 members of Congress have reported some sort of threat as of Wednesday, and no arrests have been made.

The brick flung through the window of a county Democratic Party office in Rochester, New York, over the weekend had a note attached: “Extremism in defense of liberty is no vice,” roughly quoting 1964 Republican presidential nominee Barry Goldwater.

A New York congresswoman whose office window also was smashed with a brick accused the Republican leadership of failing to denounce attacks against lawmakers who supported the legislation. The vandalism was at Democratic Rep. Louise Slaughter’s district office in Niagara Falls early Friday, two days before the House passed the health care overhaul bill.

“It’s more disturbing to me that Republican leadership has not condemned these attacks and instead appears to be fanning the flames with coded rhetoric,” said Slaughter, a key supporter of the bill.

First, and foremost, I have to say, this was NOT the work of PATRIOTS, it is the ill-conceived efforts of uncouth louts suffering from a strain of violence that they feel must be carried out. Or, perhaps it’s that of pure trouble makers that seek to incite radical violence in this nation.

I know one thing, this is NOT an act that was ordered by The TEA Party Organization, it is not an act that is endorsed by the great majority of The TEA Party groups.

On the afternoon of March 24, 2010, Shepard Smith of FOX News was reporting on this same story with FOX News reporter Carl Cameron. It sounded as if Smith were looking for a reason to blame this on The TEA Party or some TEA Party members.

I can’t speak for ALL TEA Party members, but as for me, it is MY opinion that if there is ANY proof that this was an act perpetrated by TEA Party members, of any affiliation, be they Executive Board, General Board or rank and file, those individuals need to be removed from The TEA Party and disavowed, never to be allowed back into the organization again.

Gun imagery was used in a posting on the Facebook page of Sarah Palin urging people to organize against 20 House Democrats who voted for the health care bill and whose districts went for the John McCain-Palin ticket two years ago. Palin’s post featured a U.S. map with circles and cross hairs over the 20 districts.

Now is NOT the time Ms. Palin. Calm heads must prevail and ANY imagery that is remotely related to guns will be used in a negative manner by the media. You’d think that Sarah Palin would already know that. Well by golly don’tcha know she does doggone it!

I am NOT going to sit here and say that the American people will never have to rise and take back this nation, that will remain an open and viable possibility, and an option in the future. We are, after all, a nation built on rebellion and revolution against an oppressive government.

But this is NOT the right time, not yet. All legal and peaceful means of resolution will have to be fully exhausted before radical actions take place.

Tea party activists had posted the brother’s address online thinking it was the congressman’s home. The post urged opponents to drop by and “express their thanks” for the Democrat’s vote in favor of the sweeping health care reform.

If this is true, IF a TEA Party member posted this on-line, someone, in MY opinion, seriously needs to take control of that particular TEA Party group and get it headed in the RIGHT direction. Some of their members need to be expelled, and I don’t mean just the rank and file!

Nigel Coleman, chairman of the Danville Tea Party, said he re-posted the comment that originated on another conservative blog, including the address, Monday on his Facebook page. The posts were taken down after the mistake was discovered.

“We’ve never been associated with any violence or any vandalism,” he said. “We’re definitely sorry that we posted the incorrect address.”

Harry Reid Must Resign! by Frances Rice

January 12th, 2010 . by TexasFred

I bring you an excellent piece of work, this time it’s an Op/Ed from Frances Rice. I hope you enjoy her viewpoint as much as I did!

HARRY REID MUST RESIGN!

By Frances Rice

Wielding a sharp racial sword, Democrats ruthlessly destroy the careers of Republicans on racial matters, accepting no apologies. Yet, using a glaring double standard, those same Democrats quickly give a pass to any Democrat, such as Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid who again displayed egregious racism.

Hardly a ripple of protest was made in 2004 when Reid shamelessly slurred Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas as an incompetent Negro who could not write good English. “Slap at Thomas stinks of racism,” was the headline of the New York Daily News’ December 7, 2004 editorial.

Now, Reid has described then-Senator Barack Obama as “light skinned” and “with no Negro dialect, unless he wanted to have one.” With this racial slur, Reid denigrates not only Obama, but also the entire population of black Americans as being uneducated Negroes who cannot speak standard English, the same type of disgusting remark he made over five years ago about Justice Thomas, a graduate of Yale Law School. A tribute to Justice Thomas that includes details about his stellar career is posted on the NBRA website.

Any American with an ounce of decency would not tolerate the type of disgusting racial epithets hurled by Reid at black Americans. If Reid had a scrap of politesse or common decency, he would apologize immediately to all black Americans, not just President Obama, and resign. It says a lot about his character and his innate disdain for blacks that he has refused to do so.

Obama’s readiness to give Reid a pass is in sharp contrast to how Obama reacted in 2002, wasting no time issuing a challenge to the Republican Party to repudiate Republican Senator Trent Lott’s remarks about Senator Strom Thurmond and seek his resignation as the Republican senate majority leader. The article “Obama in ’02: ‘The Republican Party itself has to drive out Trent Lott’” by John McCormack uncovers the following quote from Obama that was printed in the December 12, 2002 issue of the “Chicago Defender”.

“It seems to be that we can forgive a 100-year-old senator for some of the indiscretion of his youth, but, what is more difficult to forgive is the current president of the U.S. Senate (Lott) suggesting we had been better off if we had followed a segregationist path in this country after all of the battles and fights for civil rights and all the work that we still have to do,” said Obama.

He said: “The Republican Party itself has to drive out Trent Lott. If they have to stand for something, they have to stand up and say this is not the person we want representing our party.”

In the arsenal of excuses for Reid not resigning, as did Lott, is the claim that Reid’s racist comments were not of the same caliber as Lott’s remarks made on the occasion of Thurmond’s 100th birthday. Lott was criticized and later apologized for his favorable comments about Thurmond’s life’s work that encompassed his ill-fated 1948 presidential bid when Thurmond was a racist Democrat, and Lott was only seven years old. Thurmond died in 2003.

The fine line of racial calibration afforded Reid is never permitted any Republican under any circumstances. Resign! That’s the universal cry from Democrats to Republicans, regardless of the nature of the charge of racism, and even when the charges are false. Further, Democrats are not shy about embracing or speaking well of their aging leaders who have engaged in horrendous acts of racism.

Democrats who called for Lott’s resignation were silent when Democrat Senator Christopher Dodd praised former Klansman Democrat Senator Robert Byrd as someone who would have been “a great senator for any moment”. Unlike Byrd, Thurmond was never in the Ku Klux Klan that was the terrorist arm of the Democratic Party. After he reformed on racial issues and joined the Republican Party - the party of freedom and equality for blacks - Thurmond defended blacks against lynching and the discriminatory poll taxes imposed on blacks by Democrats.
