Russian agents infiltrated US society, charges say

NEW YORK (AP) - They sometimes worked in pairs and pretended to be married so they could blend in as the couple next door while working as spies in a throwback to the Cold War, complete with fake identities, invisible ink, coded radio transmissions and encrypted data to avoid detection, authorities say.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Michael Farbiarz, speaking Monday in federal court in Manhattan, called the allegations against 10 people living in the Northeast “the tip of the iceberg” of a conspiracy of Russia’s intelligence service, the SVR, to collect inside U.S. information, the biggest such bust in recent years.

Each of the 10 was charged with conspiracy to act as an agent of a foreign government without notifying the U.S. attorney general, which carries a maximum penalty of five years in prison upon conviction. Two criminal complaints outlining the charges were filed in U.S. District Court in New York.

Police in Cyprus said Tuesday that an 11th defendant, a Canadian citizen wanted by U.S. authorities on suspicion of espionage and money laundering, was arrested in the morning at Larnaca airport while trying to fly to Budapest, Hungary.

The days of Boris and Natasha, or Spy vs Spy are NOT over it appears.

Russia angrily denounced the U.S. arrests as an unjustified throwback to the Cold War, and senior lawmakers said some in the U.S. government may be trying to undercut President Barack Obama’s warming relations with Moscow.

Russian SVR folks, read: KGB, they changed the letters in an effort to placate the politically correct among us, anyway, they are not too bright if they believe the U.S. government is trying to undercut Obama’s efforts to warm up relations with Russia.

If there are any real PATRIOTS in the U.S. government, they are trying to tie Obama in to this as a Russian plant, a student of all things anti-American. An operative perhaps, the Manchurian Candidate come to life…

“These actions are unfounded and pursue unseemly goals,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement. “We don’t understand the reasons which prompted the U.S. Department of Justice to make a public statement in the spirit of Cold War-era spy stories.”

I’m going to take a shot in the dark here. Not being privy to this operation and roundup, I am of the opinion that the U.S. Department of Justice made a public statement on this because, oh, I don’t know, maybe because it’s true?? Do you suppose?

Intelligence on Obama’s foreign policy, particularly toward Russia, appears to have been a top priority for the Russian agents, prosecutors said.

Of course Obama is a top priority for Russian agents. They have to keep track of their man in the White House and make sure that he’s doing the bidding of his Communist masters.

The one thing that does puzzle me is this; the DOJ is run by Eric Holder, he IS the Attorney General of the United States. Most Conservatives believe that Holder is Obama’s man at Justice, why would he allow this to take place? Was there a plot afoot that would imperil Obama and his deep cover as a Manchurian Candidate perhaps?

The papers allege the defendants’ spying has been going on for years.

In ALL seriousness, it has been going on for years. Anyone that buys into this Détente BS, or the Communism died fantasy needs to reexamine the way they look at reality. Russia has never had any less desire to destroy the United States. The destruction of democracy is the goal of ALL Russian leaders, otherwise, they wouldn’t BE Russian leaders.

“We will bury you without firing a shot.” ~ Nikita Krushchev

Russia still, to this very day, believes that statement, it is their ultimate desire. Bury the USA and not destroy the land itself. M.A.D., mutually assured destruction, is the reason we haven’t engaged Russia in a nuclear exchange. We ALL lose. But make no mistake, Russia stills wants to see the United States fall. Perhaps they see that very thing happening in the personage of one Barack Hussein Obama.

There are people in this nation, natural born Americans, that would sell America out for no other reason than money alone.

Some would do so out of a sense of self-righteousness, and a belief that a Communist or Socialist system would be better than free trade and free market Capitalism.

There are myriad reasons that Americans would turn on this nation and sell out to Russia, or similar dominate and dictatorial powers, but the only reason I can accept for them doing so is sheer stupidity, and apparently, there are many Americans that fall into that category.

Our faux POTUS may want warmer, and closer relations with the Russians. He may see them as a friend and ally, that would be understandable given the presumed political ideology of Barack Hussein Obama, but the Russians are NOT our friends. Not now, not ever.

There are all kinds of low class slime who are trying and will continue to try to wreck this country from the inside. Most of them don’t know it, but they are actually working for the Russians. Some of them do know it, though. It doesn’t matter whether they call themselves communists, socialists, or just plain liberals. That is what they are doing. ~ Gen. George S. Patton

Holy Rocky and Bullwinkle, Batman. I am currently employed by a company owned by Russians. Interestingly, we do a lot of work on military installations. Go figure.

Anybody else remember a book by Herbert A. Philbrick? I Led Three Lives was the title.

The book was about Communist spies here in the States last century.

Communists never give up. We’re fools to believe that they do.

…if we knew this why didn’t the Obama ask the President of Russia about it the other day when he was hogging down burgers the scum at a Washington burger joint? No, Obama couldn’t because he was too busy doing the bidding of the Russians: they want in the World Trade Organization and Obama will turn our country upside down getting them there.

I said from the very first when the USSR when Chapter 7 that is was all subterfuge because the Commies were broke and needed a new start/organization. Think not? Putin was once the head of the KGB. Nuff said. Is Obama the ultimate Manchurian Candidate? Sure he is and his election had been in the planning since at least the 60′s. Maybe not him personally, but someone like him groomed and vetted by Moscow or Beijing.

For the first time in history, a US president has released the size of our nuclear arsenal.

    From the Washington Times:

On orders from the White House, the Pentagon on Monday released the exact number of nuclear warheads as the 189-nation nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty review conference got under way in New York. The U.S. nuclear stockpile now stands at 5,113 warheads, down from a high of 31,255 in 1967.

Never before has the United States allowed either friend or foe access to such precise information about our nuclear assets - and for good reason. A healthy dread of these awesome weapons has deterred aggression against the American homeland and kept the nation safe.
