Come And Take It…

May 7th, 2008 . by TexasFred

This old flag has a special meaning to ALL Texas folk, “Come and take it” was a slogan used in the Texas Revolution in 1835.

As a symbol of defiance, the Texans had fashioned a flag containing the phrase along with a black star and an image of the cannon which they had received six years earlier from the hands of a Mexican official.

That defiance is still alive and well in Texas today.

If you are a Texas Gun Lover, if you’re a Texas historian, if you are a gun lover from anywhere, this may be our new ‘battle cry’ very soon, if you are ready to stand in defiance and tell the government, “Come And Take It”, here’s your chance to show your support.

Just click this link Come And Take It and you’ll find some really great T-Shirts, Mugs and Steins and a lot of other products, and I have a 2nd logo too, it’s available on many of the products as well.

McCain slated for N.R.A. meeting

May 6th, 2008 . by TexasFred
LOUISVILLE (AP) — The National Rifle Association says Republican presidential candidate John McCain is scheduled to give a speech during a forum at the N.R.A.’s annual meeting next week in Louisville.

N.R.A. spokesman Andrew Arulanandam says the U.S. senator and presumptive GOP presidential nominee will take part in the group’s Celebration of American Values Leadership Forum on May 16, the first day of the three-day meeting. The meeting will be followed a few days later by Kentucky’s primary election.

Also scheduled to speak at the forum are former GOP presidential candidates Mike Huckabee and Mitt Romney, former White House political director Karl Rove, Republican U.S. Senate Leader Mitch McConnell and Kentucky Gov. Steve Beshear.

Arulanandam says Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama were not invited to this N.R.A. event.

McCain slated for N.R.A. meeting

That last line had me laughing out loud, for 1 thing, I believe Barack Obama would be very afraid to show up at a place that was filled with gun lovers and gun owners, although most are sane and normal people there is always that 0.001% that’s just plain ape-shit crazy and would hide a gun in a body cavity if they thought they would get even a remote opportunity at taking a shot at the Jr. Senator from the great state of Illinois…

Last week, Sen. Barack Obama claimed that many Midwestern voters “cling” to guns and religion to placate themselves for their loss of jobs and economic prosperity. SOURCE

Anyone can understand the NRA not wanting Obama there after the bum made such ridiculous statements but the didn’t invite Hillary?? She’s into guns ya know, she said so…

“You know, some people now continue to teach their children and their grandchildren. It’s part of culture. It’s part of a way of life. People enjoy hunting and shooting because it’s an important part of who they are. Not because they are bitter. … As I told you, my dad taught me how to shoot behind our cottage. I have gone hunting. I am not a hunter. But I have gone hunting.”  SOURCE

Yeah, well, I’m not a pilot but I’ve been up in a lot of airplanes, does that instill a sense of confidence in you?? And if there is anyone out there that truly believes Hillary and her impassioned pandering of gun owners, I have some bridge properties you may be interested in owning…

Now, on to Sen. John McCain and guns, McCain, the apparent darling of the Republican party and the leader of a bunch of ankle biting little lapdogs affectionately called McCainiacs…

Sen. McCain is basically a pandering politico and will say and/or do anything it takes to get elected to the presidency, including, but not limited to pandering to gun owners in an attempt to gain their support and the support of the Conservative voting base, a base that he all but turned his back on in 2000…

John McCain tried running for president in 2000 as an anti-gunner. This year it appears he is seeking to “come home” to the pro-gun community, but the wounds are deep and memories long. John McCain - GOA 2008

As if there wasn’t already plenty of evidence that Senator John McCain is the wrong choice for pro-gun Republicans in the Presidential primary, the Columbus Dispatch has added one more item to the list: Buckeye Firearms Association

Nowhere is McCain’s chicanery and duplicity more jeopardous than in the area of the right to keep and bear arms. On issues relating to the Second Amendment, John McCain is a disaster! For example, the highly respected Gun Owners of America (GOA) rates McCain with a grade of F-. McCain’s failing grade is well deserved. John McCain Is A Liberal Gun Grabber

I could go on and on but you get the idea, McCain is sucking up to the NRA and will turn his back on the gun owners of America as soon as he’s sworn in and any way this thing goes, gun owners will become the target…

McCain may be a bit better president than Hillary and Hillary would be infinitely better than Obama but let’s face the facts, if these 3 are the best that the parties have to offer and if we are so complacent that we’re willing to accept these candidates, then come November we’re going to get exactly what we deserve…

Obama’s appeal to working-class whites faltering, polls show

May 4th, 2008 . by TexasFred

WASHINGTON (AP) - Barack Obama’s problem winning votes from working-class whites is showing no sign of going away, and their impression of him is getting worse.

Those are ominous signals as he hopes for strong performances in the coming week in Indiana and North Carolina primaries that would derail the candidacy of Hillary Rodham Clinton, his rival for the Democratic presidential nomination. Those contests come as his candidacy has been rocked by renewed attention to his volatile former pastor, the Rev. Jeremiah Wright, and by his defeat in last month’s Pennsylvania primary.

In an Associated Press-Yahoo News poll in April, 53 percent of whites who have not completed college viewed Obama unfavorably, up a dozen percentage points from November. During that period, the numbers viewing Clinton and Republican candidate John McCain negatively have stayed about even.

The April poll - conducted before the Pennsylvania contest - also showed an overwhelming preference for Clinton over Obama among working-class whites. They favored her over him by 39 percentage points, compared to a 10-point Obama lead among white college graduates. Obama also did worse than Clinton among those less-educated voters when matched up against Republican candidate John McCain.

“It’s the stuff about his preacher … and the thing he said about Pennsylvania towns, how they turn to religion,” Keith Wolfe, 41, a supermarket food stocker from Parkville, Md., said in a follow-up interview. “I don’t think he’d be a really good leader.”

Just before the Pennsylvania primary, Obama said many small-town residents are bitter about their lives and turn for solace to religion and guns.

Obama’s appeal to working-class whites faltering, polls show

I am going to state this in the most PC way I can think of, anyone that supports this racist liar is a fool, it’s that simple, and this working class white guy NEVER saw any appeal in a pandering politico like Obama…

He is a closet racist as recently brought to light by his support for Rev. Jeremiah Wright, he is a suspected Muslim, quite possibly a terrorist sympathizer, Hamas Endorses Obama

He has NO experience at running anything, none, the closest he’s been to the White House was on a visitors pass, Obama worked as a community organizer, university lecturer, and lawyer before serving in the Illinois Senate from 1997 to 2004. Source

As a member of the Democratic minority in the 109th Congress, he cosponsored legislation to control conventional weapons,
Source

Now I am guessing that conventional weapons refers to military weapons, but I wouldn’t put all my eggs in that basket either, Obama is a gun grabbing nut,
Barack Obama on Gun Control, here are some examples:

Stop unscrupulous gun dealers dumping guns in cities. (Jul 2007)
Keep guns out of inner cities–but also problem of morality. (Oct 2006)
Ban semi-automatics, and more possession restrictions. (Jul 1998)
Voted NO on prohibiting lawsuits against gun manufacturers. (Jul 2005)

This person is WRONG for America, he is wrong for CONSERVATIVE America, he’s wrong for liberal America too, but they are too blind to see what electing him president can do to ALL Americans…

If you love America, vote Conservative, Obama can’t be allowed to ascend to the presidency of this nation, he is going to give this nation over to Islam and destroy America, and I believe this in my heart, if you are as convinced as I am, please make a serious effort to campaign against Barack Hussein Obama…

Why do we, as Americans always end up with having to choose the lessor of evils?

Stolen From:
Conservative Libertarian Outpost

My close friend Patrick Sperry had this posted on his site, and every word is true, every link provides proof, there appears to be a glitch in Patrick’s format so I re-posted them from the original source and everything is working now.

John McCain IS a Libber, he always has been, and the people that tout him as ANY kind of Conservative apparently need to look up the definition of CONSERVATIVE, because McCain doesn’t fit the profile of a Conservative any more than the Clinton’s or Obama do.

Any way this election goes, Americans are going to lose, in more ways than one, we stand to lose personal freedoms, gun owners rights, possible Internet censorship, you name it and we could lose it, picture a kinda/sorta totalitarian government ruled by a skinny, half black closet racist SOB that can’t do anything other than make dynamic speeches, that’s the only talent he has other than having the libbers of The View think he hot, or perhaps a POTUS with PMS and the nuclear launch codes, with a real hatred of guns and gun owners, and then imagine a John McCain presidency, an angry, confused little pissant, a wannabe libber gun grabber that tries to foist himself off as some kind of Republican conservative when he is, in FACT, a hell of a lot closer to the Dems than he ever was to the Republicans, even when you consider this newer and more gentle Republican party, the one I refer to as ‘Dem Lite’, imagine those scenarios and you’re looking at exactly what we will be facing after the ‘08 elections.

McCain may be a bit less dangerous to the American people than Hillary or Obama, but only in the same way that you can say George Bush is smarter than Al Gore or John Kerry, and none of that bunch could make it through the 1st round of ‘Are you smarter than a 5th grader?’.

Get ready America, we’re going for a wild ride soon, and you can’t say that some of us didn’t try to warn you in advance, when you settle for the lesser of 2 evils, all you get is EVIL, no matter how you try to label it as something other than what it really is.

Film Legend Charlton Heston Dead at 84

April 6th, 2008 . by TexasFred

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Charlton Heston, who won the 1959 best actor Oscar as the chariot-racing “Ben-Hur” and portrayed Moses, Michelangelo, El Cid and other heroic figures in movie epics of the ’50s and ’60s, has died. He was 84.

The actor died Saturday night at his home in Beverly Hills with his wife Lydia at his side, family spokesman Bill Powers said.

Powers declined to comment on the cause of death or provide further details.

“Charlton Heston was seen by the world as larger than life. He was known for his chiseled jaw, broad shoulders and resonating voice, and, of course, for the roles he played,” Heston’s family said in a statement. “No one could ask for a fuller life than his. No man could have given more to his family, to his profession, and to his country.”
(snip)
The actor assumed the role of leader offscreen as well. He served as president of the Screen Actors Guild and chairman of the American Film Institute and marched in the civil rights movement of the 1950s. With age, he grew more conservative and campaigned for conservative candidates.

In June 1998, Heston was elected president of the National Rifle Association, for which he had posed for ads holding a rifle. He delivered a jab at then-President Clinton, saying, “America doesn’t trust you with our 21-year-old daughters, and we sure, Lord, don’t trust you with our guns.”

Full Story Here:
Film Legend Charlton Heston Dead at 84

I was very happy when Heston became a Conservative leader and was proud to call him Mr. President when he held the reigns of the NRA, he brought much enjoyment into many lives with his acting and his presence.

Mr. Heston was wise in his assessments of the ‘trust level’ we could have concerning Bill Clinton, and if he were able to voice an opinion today concerning Obama and Hillary Clinton, I am sure his views would be exactly the same!

Rest in Peace Sir! You will be missed.

Calif. anti-gun activist pleads no contest to gun charges

January 19th, 2008 . by TexasFred

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A former gang member who founded an anti-violence group called No Guns has pleaded no contest to federal weapons charges.

Hector “Big Weasel” Marroquin, 51, and co-defendant Sylvia Arrellano, 25, entered pleas Thursday for three counts of manufacture, distribution and transport for sale of an unlawful assault weapon.

Arrellano also pleaded no contest to machine gun conversion and possessing a silencer and acknowledged that the crime was committed for the benefit of a criminal street gang.

She was given until Tuesday to surrender for sentencing and would likely be sentenced to four years in prison, prosecutors said.

Marroquin attorney Patrick Smith did not return a phone message seeking comment Thursday. No phone listing was available for Arrellano.

Marroquin founded No Guns in 1996, ostensibly to reduce gang and gun violence. The group received $1.5 million from the city as a subcontractor on anti-gang efforts but its contract was canceled last year after authorities learned that Marroquin had hired relatives, including his son, Hector “Little Weasel” Marroquin.

The son is an acknowledged 18th Street gang member who pleaded no contest in June 2007 to home-invasion robbery and was sentenced to nine years in state prison.

Calif. anti-gun activist pleads no contest to gun charges

The perfect combination of hilarity, hypocrisy, criminal genius and governmental ignorance, all rolled into one delectable story…

The gangs find a way to BS the California system into giving them $1.5M in an anti guns for gangs program and then the gangs turn around and used that money to arm the gangs…

And the L.A. officials didn’t SEE this coming??

I know that some folks feel that the RKBA applies to ALL people, and constitutionally it does, but it shouldn’t, we don’t need MORE gun laws, we need more stringent enforcement of the ones we already have, and we need serious investigation and justification for EVERY gun sale in this nation, and yes, I DO realize what I’m saying, and YES, I do realize it would be a pain in the ass but let me propose the counter-thesis to the blanket assumption that many have of the 2nd amendment…

Chuy and Pepe have never been convicted of anything but they are well known, established members of some wetback street gang and that gang wants guns, they have their ‘clean’ guys BUY, not steal, actually BUY some legal weapons and then those weapons are distributed to said gang members, suppose that waiting period would have made a difference, suppose that waiting period, and a thorough investigation had turned up the information that Pepe and Chuy are suspected gangsters and they were on a NO SALE watch list??

Just some thoughts, I don’t know if that sort of action is even feasible, and much to the chagrin of a few folks, I don’t believe the 2nd amendment gives you the right to own fully automatic assault rifles either but I’d like to hear some reader feedback on guns, use of guns, ownership responsibility and so forth…

Gun ownership, in MY opinion, comes with many responsibilities, but the bad guys don’t assume ANY of those responsibilities, only legal gun owners do, and as much as I DO believe in the 2nd, and the RKBA, I feel that there has to be at least some limit to the broad interpretation OF the 2nd, not everyone walking the streets of America is entitled to gun ownership, would it be a good thing to register ALL gun owners, require that they attend some intense safety classes and put in some hard ‘range time’ to prove their proficiency and sharpen their skills, and during this qualification process, have their backgrounds totally and thoroughly checked out and eliminate those that are unsafe, mentally unsound or otherwise unqualified to own and/or possess a gun??

And after such qualifications have been met, would it be unreasonable to lock up for life anyone that didn’t meet the criteria that was caught brandishing a weapon?? Lock up anyone that used a weapon for an illegal purpose or committed a crime while armed WITH a firearm??

Or would this open up another avenue for the feds to pursue those that DID own and possess firearms legally??

I don’t want to see an America where a LEGAL and qualified citizen can’t be armed and able to protect himself from the criminals that run roughshod over this nation or from invaders from other nations, but I would love to see vigorous prosecution and enforcement against those that ruin gun ownership for the 99.999% of LEGAL gun owners that don’t commit violent gun crimes…

Falkenberg: Self-defense unclear in Horn case

December 4th, 2007 . by TexasFred

There seems to be some confusion here. Joe Horn is not a hero.

The Pasadena homeowner certainly had a chance to be a hero, but he gave up that opportunity as soon as he allowed fear, adrenaline, suburban angst, Old West entitlement or all of the aforementioned to overwhelm his ability to think rationally and consider the consequences of his actions.

Let’s imagine, for a moment, that the whole ordeal had turned out differently, that after the 61-year-old computer consultant called 911 to report a burglary next door on that November afternoon, he had followed the dispatcher’s advice and stayed safely inside his house.

He still could have provided descriptions of the bad guys and let police know which way they were fleeing. He could have stood guard, loaded shotgun in hand, just in case the burglars preyed on his house next.

Full Story Here:
Falkenberg: Self-defense unclear in Horn case - Houston Chronicle

This is an excellent Op/Ed by Lisa Falkenberg of the Houston Chronicle, in her article she points out the same issues that I have been pointing to since this story began…

It’s almost scary how her article mirrors some of the commentary I have made in regards to this case, Mr. Horn is NOT a hero, he broke the law, he ignored direct orders to stay put and 2 men are dead because of it, and yeah, they were burglars, but as I, and now Lisa have pointed out, burglary is NOT a death penalty issue, and Horn placed himself in the position of being judge, jury and executioner…

I don’t know what will become of Horn, hell, he may be vindicated and given a heroes medal and a parade for all I know, but I will never believe Horn was right in his final actions, once Horn took up his shotgun and walked out from behind the protection of his LOCKED doors and deliberately inserted himself directly into this drama, Mr. Horn was wrong, dead wrong, he became a modern day vigilante and there’s no other way to look at it…

Kudos to Ms. Falkenberg for having the intestinal fortitude to write the truth and not succumb to the madness of the mob mentality that is prevalent on ALL sides of this issue, I encourage you to read the full story at the link above, and you really need to read the comments some folks have made…
