Poll: 4 out of 5 Americans don’t trust Washington

WASHINGTON (AP) - America’s “Great Compromiser” Henry Clay called government “the great trust,” but most Americans today have little faith in Washington’s ability to deal with the nation’s problems.

Public confidence in government is at one of the lowest points in a half century, according to a survey from the Pew Research Center. Nearly 8 in 10 Americans say they don’t trust the federal government and have little faith it can solve America’s ills, the survey found.

The survey illustrates the ominous situation President Barack Obama and the Democratic Party face as they struggle to maintain their comfortable congressional majorities in this fall’s elections. Midterm prospects are typically tough for the party in power. Add a toxic environment like this and lots of incumbent Democrats could be out of work.

The survey found that just 22 percent of those questioned say they can trust Washington almost always or most of the time and just 19 percent say they are basically content with it. Nearly half say the government negatively affects their daily lives, a sentiment that’s grown over the past dozen years.

This anti-government feeling has driven the tea party movement, reflected in fierce protests this past week.

“The government’s been lying to people for years. Politicians make promises to get elected, and when they get elected, they don’t follow through,” says Cindy Wanto, 57, a registered Democrat from Nemacolin, Pa., who joined several thousand for a rally in Washington on April 15 - the tax filing deadline. “There’s too much government in my business. It was a problem before Obama, but he’s certainly not helping fix it.”

Correct me if I’m wrong, but isn’t 4 out of 5 the same thing as saying 80 percent? No matter how you say it, that’s a lot of dissatisfied Americans.

If those figures hold true, just imagine the bloodbath at the polls come November. Americans are waking up. The sleeping giant has been stirred, and he’s not at all happy with what he sees.

Think about this too, the Pew Research Center conducted the poll and their finding say that nearly 80% of Americans don’t trust Washington. The AP publishes this story. The AP is not known for being a right wing conservative supporting news source and they seem to have the ability to spin things in Barack Hussein Obama’s favor, on a regular basis. That said, I wonder, if AP is willing to run with 80%, what are the REAL numbers?

Majorities in the survey call Washington too big and too powerful, and say it’s interfering too much in state and local matters. The public is split over whether the government should be responsible for dealing with critical problems or scaled back to reduce its power, presumably in favor of personal responsibility.

Personal responsibility? The government, particularly this one now, the latest in a long line of power grabbing regimes, seems to think Americans are incapable of thinking for themselves. We are believed to be so desperate, so gullible and so ignorant that we’ll accept any bone the political machine throws our way.

Barack Hussein Obama being elected to the presidency was a fluke! Nothing more.

The GOP had spent 8 years trying to convince the American people that George W. Bush was the right man at the right time. I disagree with that, but given the options of voting for him or his opponents, I, as did many others, took the path of least resistance and voted for what we believed to be the lesser of the evils. As time passed it was clear, Bush had NO clue of how to run a government or conduct a war. His actions opened the door for CHANGE.

The GOP/RNC, in their collective insanity, ran the weakest ticket imaginable, McCain/Palin, and thus all but gave Barack Hussein Obama, and the CHANGE he preached, a clear path to victory.

That was then, this is now.

McCain booed after trying to calm anti-Obama crowd

McCain booed after trying to calm anti-Obama crowd

LAKEVILLE, Minn. (AP) - The anger is getting raw at Republican rallies and John McCain is acting to tamp it down. McCain was booed by his own supporters Friday when, in an abrupt switch from raising questions about Barack Obama’s character, he described the Democrat as a “decent person and a person that you do not have to be scared of as president of the United States.”

A sense of grievance spilling into rage has gripped some GOP events this week as McCain supporters see his presidential campaign lag against Obama. Some in the audience are making it personal, against the Democrat. Shouts of “traitor,”"terrorist,”"treason,”"liar,” and even “off with his head” have rung from the crowd at McCain and Sarah Palin rallies, and gone unchallenged by them.

McCain changed his tone Friday when supporters at a town hall pressed him to be rougher on Obama. A voter said, “The people here in Minnesota want to see a real fight.” Another said Obama would lead the U.S. into socialism. Another said he did not want his unborn child raised in a country led by Obama.

“If you want a fight, we will fight,” McCain said. “But we will be respectful. I admire Sen. Obama and his accomplishments.” When people booed, he cut them off.

How long have I been telling you folks?? John McCain is NOT the man to be president of the USA. How many times have I said, “McCain is a hell of a lot closer to the Dems than he EVER was to the Republicans.”??

McCain is NOT the warrior he claims to be. McCain is NOT, in ANY way, a Conservative. McCain IS an appeaser, he wants to be PC and leave as few ruffled feathers as possible. McCain is a doddering old man and has NO business in this race to begin with, and I have preached that, long and loud, since day 1 when he announced!

“I don’t mean that has to reduce your ferocity,” he said. “I just mean to say you have to be respectful.”

Respectful?? This isn’t a church social Mr. McCain, it’s a battle to save this nation and if you don’t have what it takes, get the hell out and let a real fighter take your place.

I’m a NASCAR fan, and several years ago some of the guys were talking about Dale Earnhardt and respect on the track. One of them said, “You don’t think Earnhardt spun that guy out on purpose do you?” Well, the other announcer apparently knew Dale Earnhardt a lot better than his co-announcer did, he replied, “Dale Earnhardt would spin his Mama out to win a race!!”

Mr. McCain, you need to pay attention to that statement, and then consider this, Barack HUSSEIN Obama has already thrown friends, neighbors, preachers and family under the bus, he will let NOTHING stand in his way as he tries to get into the Oval Office.

The RIGHT side of this nation is angry, that means some Republicans and nearly ALL Conservatives, angered Mr. McCain, and disgusted, and when you couple that with the volatile financial market, one that I personally believe that you helped to bring about, well, the tensions are high, you get the idea…

If you are not willing to fight fire with fire, then you are NOT the man to lead this nation!

Read this full article folks, you’ll either be shaking your head in disbelief or possibly considering a vote for Bob Barr (L), and you know, that says a hell of a lot regarding the sad state that our presidential election process is in…
