Ala. governor signs tough illegal immigration law

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Alabama’s governor on Thursday signed a tough new illegal immigration crackdown that contains provisions requiring public schools to determine students’ immigration status and making it a crime to knowingly give an illegal immigrant a ride.

The bill also allows police to arrest anyone suspected of being an illegal immigrant if they’re stopped for any other reason. Alabama employers also are now required to use a federal system called E-Verify to determine if new workers are in the country legally.

Gov. Robert Bentley said the law is the nation’s toughest, and groups including the American Civil Liberties Union and the Montgomery-based Southern Poverty Law Center agree. The groups say they plan to challenge it.

The legal director for the Southern Poverty Law Center, Mary Bauer, said Thursday that she expects a lawsuit to be filed before the provisions of law are scheduled to take effect on Sept. 1.

Kudos to the state of Alabama on their new immigration law!

Do you know how to tell if you’re doing the right thing where ILLEGAL immigration is concerned? Watch the SPLC and their reaction, the faster they weigh in and become involved with threatening lawsuits and protests, the more RIGHT the law is that they are challenging.

The most frightening words in the English language: States Rights.

Those two words that send chills up the spines of the Obama regime and every other anti-American libber, socialist, communist or any other scumbag that wants to destroy America as it was intended to be.

The state of Georgia has also passed a law cracking down on immigration this year, and civil liberties groups have filed a lawsuit trying to block it too.

Do these *civil liberties* groups operate outside of the law? I’m thinking that they must, otherwise, how could they take umbrage with the passing of JUST laws and their enforcement? What part of ILLEGAL is it that these Morris Dees Bots don’t understand?

Anti-American groups like the SPLC are going to be the death of America, and will work diligently to make ILLEGAL immigration a natural and acceptable business matter if they possibly can.

Perhaps it really IS time to get serious about the Tenth Amendment and the fact that the Federal Government, along with their minions, ie: The SPLC, are the biggest DOMESTIC enemies the American people face.

ATF, DOJ Launch Damage Control Effort over Growing Project Gunrunner Scandal

A major scandal is developing around a signature U.S. effort to track and stop the flow of illicit weapons to Mexico, as officials at the Department of Justice close ranks, hoping to cover up an investigation critics say is responsible for an untold number of dead.

The investigation was known as Project Gunrunner — a joint task force headed by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Department of Justice — that took place in 2010.

It was conceived after the bureau was criticized for not conducting more complex investigations on straw buyers — people who were allowed to purchase guns legally in the U.S. — who illegally transport guns into Mexico and sell them to cartels.

So rather than just take down low-level straw buyers here and there, the agency hoped by ‘letting the guns walk’ the sales would lead investigators to cartel members higher up in the organization.

However, whistle-blowers say that never happened. SOURCE

The BATFE and DOJ, think Eric Holder and his boss, Barack Hussein Obama, and then put 2 and 2 together, the picture should become clear almost instantly for anyone with half a brain.

These are the utter MORONS that are accusing every honest, hard working American gun owner of buying guns for the cartels, *straw man purchases* if you will, when in all fact and actuality it is them, the Federal government more than anyone else, and their various agencies, that are supplying cartels with quality weapons.

Now, consider this: Mexican Drug Cartels Allegedly Plot to Shoot ICE Agents and Texas Rangers

(WASHINGTON) — U.S. counter-narcotics officials recently discovered that Mexican drug cartels discussed plots to kill Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents and Texas Rangers who patrol the U.S.-Mexico border.

Rep. Michael McCaul, R-Texas, chairman of the House Homeland Security Committee’s Subcommittee on Oversight, Investigations, and Management, disclosed the information during a hearing Thursday morning on how DHS is battling Mexican drug cartels.

A March 2011 law enforcement bulletin “warned that cartels were overheard plotting to kill ICE agents and Texas Rangers guarding the border using AK-47s by shooting at them from across the border,” McCaul said.

U.S. officials could not ascertain how credible the threats were but were concerned enough that they alerted agents operating on the border.

And if that’s not enough for you, here’s one more story from the headlines today, just more proof that the Federal Government is run by MORONS.

Arsenal Found in Mexico Contains Guns From U.S. Probe

An arsenal found in Mexico included at least five assault rifles that U.S authorities trace to a federal operation gone badly awry, according to government documents.

The discovery appears to confirm for the first time fears cited by Republican lawmakers that a Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives operation called Fast and Furious failed to stop guns from ending up with drug gangs in Mexico.

The Fast and Furious program, run by the ATF’s Phoenix office, monitored weapons purchases by suspected gun traffickers who were believed to be funneling weapons to Mexican drug cartels. Some lawmakers say ATF didn’t have the means to track the guns and shouldn’t have used such tactics.

An ATF spokesman declined to comment; citing ongoing investigations, including one ordered by Attorney General Eric Holder that the Justice Department’s inspector general is conducting. SOURCE

This ‘ongoing investigation’ thing, to put it into the simplest of terms, is nothing more than a group of guys at DOJ brainstorming a way to cover their own asses and get out of this with the least amount of damage to Holder and Obama.

So, let’s get back to that Tenth Amendment issue I mentioned earlier.

The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people.

We, the states, DO have rights, and regardless the claims of some, the War Between the States was fought over those rights. Slavery was an issue, but it was not THE issue nor was it the root cause. The Confederacy felt that they were being persecuted by the establishment in Washington must like the United States was being persecuted and exploited by England in 1776.

Today the Federal Government is once again reaching far over their designated range and is attempting to control any and everything that happens in all 50 states, or 57 states if you’re Barack Hussein Obama. Just sayin’…

Some states didn’t take kindly to the Federal government and its domination, and on December 20th, 1860, South Carolina held a secession convention in Charleston. The debate was quick and short. Representatives voted unanimously, 169 to 0 for secession. Some states are NOT going to take this treatment sitting still today either.

Remember these words America:

When in the course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature’s God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We may be closer to needing to stand BY those words again than in any time in U.S. history.

I don’t want to see another conflagration like the one that some call *The Civil War*, but if it takes a WAR to re-secure our freedoms, then WAR it needs to be, and I hope the great state of TEXAS leads the way.

    Hey Fred, how many states now have some sort of immigration law and where is Texas in all of this? My personal feelings are “Since my Grandparents came here legally and went through all the process, everyone else should have to do it the same way. - LEGALLY or get the hell out.

    Daisy Dogg has it right, my great grandparents and one of my grandparents came here legally. I have no problem with taking in the poorest of the poor, the most wretched of foreign shores providing they do it the right way. Too many stories of people arriving here with no English or money and making a name for themselves. One of our McAllen Tea Party regulars came to the US from Cuba after Castro took over. No English, No money, no education. He is now a very conservative individual who routinely talks against the socialist tendencies of the left, and how those tendencies/policies work to the detriment of the people. He lived it and he knows.

    God Bless America where there are no hyphenated Americans.

    AUSTIN — Gov. Rick Perry added immigration legislation to the special session’s agenda on Tuesday, including a measure that would remove local law enforcement agencies’ ability to make immigration violations a lower priority.

    Other items he added include how local police use the federal Secure Communities program to check people’s immigration status when they are arrested, and checking an applicant’s immigration status before issuing driver’s licenses and personal identification certificates, according to a statement from Perry.

    The governor had named similar items as emergency legislation in the regular session, but the bills failed to reach the full Senate for a vote.

    Opponents say the measures will lead to racial profiling and the harassment of minorities.

    Texas Democrats vehemently oppose all the measures and successfully used parliamentary procedure to stymie them until after the deadline passed for passage during the regular session. In a special session, there are fewer opportunities to slow a bill down. Republicans have a 101-49 supermajority in the House and a 19-12 majority in the Senate, making it easy for them to pass the measures.

    Proponents call places where police do not actively enforce federal immigration law “sanctuary cities,” a moniker local officials reject.

    “Texas owes it to the brave law enforcement officials, who put their lives on the line every day to protect our families and communities, to give them the discretion they need to adequately do their jobs,” Perry said. “Abolishing sanctuary cities in Texas, using the federal Secure Communities program and ensuring that only individuals who are here legally can obtain a valid Texas driver’s license sends a clear message that Texas will not turn a blind eye to those breaking our laws.”

    The bill would forbid policymakers from telling law enforcement officers not to give immigration matters the same priority as other crimes. The bill currently filed in the Legislature would allow a police ozcer to ask about someone’s immigration status whenever they are being questioned about any kind of violation.

    If a police officer or a citizen feels like an agency is not fully pursuing immigration violators, that person can ask the state attorney general to file suit. Agencies are also subject to litigation if someone believes officers are racially profiling people, creating what critics call a no-win situation.

    The vast majority of police chiefs oppose the measure, which they say would prevent them from setting their own law enforcement priorities.

    “The police chiefs and sheriffs have said this would diminish their ability in community policing because this would create distrust in the community and keep people from coming forth with information that is needed,” said Sen. Leticia Van de Putte, the Democratic leader in the Senate. “I think it’s bad public policy.”

    The federal Secure Communities program allows local jails to check the immigration status of suspects when they are booked. All of Texas’ 254 counties already use the program, but Perry would like to see it expanded to include city jails. The Obama administration has said it wants the program to be nationwide by 2013.

    Critics say the program busies itself rounding up low-level criminals and discourages crime victims from coming forward, such as a domestic violence victim who won’t call police for fear that a spouse will be deported.

    Van de Putte also questions the driver’s license measure, which would require all applicants to prove their citizenship status not just on the initial application, but for renewals and replacements as well.

    The police chiefs and sheriffs have said this would diminish their ability in community policing because this would create distrust in the community and keep people from coming forth with information that is needed.”

    Every eriggin day I see the Illegal mothers at Wal_Mart pushing out huge loads of groceries, with the “little toddlers” hanging on them. These female illegal alien mothers had their children born here and became the mother of anchor baby US CITIZENS!!!

    These mothers snub their nose at you. They get arrogant, always speak Spanish, which I also do, so I know what they are discussing. Some of these mothers have 13 year old daughters with them, who are really pregnant. Pigs making more pigs.

    I have called them down many times for insulting our USA while they live and breed off the welfare that YOU and ME pay for.

    No embarrassment there at all. Total arrogance from them.

    The time has come to make this change to our laws.

    So, you can understand why I want the Immigration laws enforced immediately, and also have this born in the USA changed to NOT INCLUDE THESE ANCHOR BABIES AS AUTOMATIC US CITIZENS!!!
    DEPORT THEM ALL!!

    I know the Mexican Immigration laws very well, as I had to work under them.

    All I ask is to follow THEIR LAW, the Mexican Migra Regulaciones.

    Very simple indeed.

    I’m a little behind on reading e-mails/blogs. But YESTERDAY MEXICAN DRUG TERRORISTS fired at Texas DPS et al from across the Rio Grande in an attempt to protect their load(s) of dope! Janet, is the border STILL “safe???” (Funny, all I hear are the sounds of the crickets chirping…)
