U.S. Officers, Drug Runners Involved In Shootout On Texas-Mexico Border

Officers who were taking part in a multi-agency Texas Rangers operation exchanged gunfire Thursday with drug-runners along the Rio Grande, wounding at least three suspects.

AUSTIN (June 9, 2011) — U.S. law enforcement officers exchanged gunfire early Thursday morning with drug runners while attempting to intercept boats loaded with drugs on the Rio Grande, the Department of Public Safety said.

The officers were participating in a multi-agency Texas Ranger Recon operation, the DPS said.

At least three suspected drug runners were wounded in the shootout, the DPS said.

Early Thursday the U.S. officers spotted a suspicious vehicle on the U.S. side of the river along with two drug cartel recovery boats, the DPS said.

Three patrol boats the U.S. officers were using to attempt to intercept the cartel boats received heavy gunfire from the Mexican side of the border, the DPS said.

There were no reports of injuries among the U.S. officers.

Authorities in Mexico were notified about the abandoned cartel boats and were on the scene of the shootout late Thursday morning, the DPS said. SOURCE

So it begins, in earnest.

Even the Associated Press is reporting the gun battle, and when the AP picks up on ANY story that has the possibility of shining a bad light on Obama, you know it’s getting pretty serious.

Texas agency: Authorities take gunfire on border

SAN ANTONIO — Texas authorities said suspected drug runners in Mexico began shooting at U.S. law enforcement agents from across the Rio Grande on Thursday, forcing the U.S. officers to return fire and injuring at least three of the suspects on the other side of the border.

Few details about the early morning shootout in Hidalgo County were immediately available. The shootout began after U.S. agents patrolling in boats tried to seize a drug load on the Rio Grande, Texas Department of Public Safety spokeswoman Tela Mange said.

Mange said she could not disclose whether any U.S. officers were struck or injured. She said the agents came under “heavy fire” but would not say how long the ensuing shootout lasted.

Authorities said Mexican officials were notified about two “drug-laden” boats that were abandoned after the shootout.

U.S. Border Patrol referred questions to the DPS, which used its elite team of Texas Rangers Recon agents in the attempted drug seizure.

It is not the first time shots have been exchanged along the Texas-Mexico border. Since January of last year, DPS has tracked at least a dozen incidents of shots being fired from Mexico and into Texas, with U.S. officers shooting back in some cases.

No U.S. authorities have been reported hurt in those cases. SOURCE

There is a lot of this going on, a lot more than the MORON in the Oval Office and Janet Napolitano are willing to let the American people in on.

Last year we got this story, Illegal Immigrant Suspected in Murder of Arizona Rancher, just a few days ago this was the story, one that the murdered mans family disputes for several reasons. Ghost town owner murdered near Arizona/New Mexico border, Larry Link was NOT a rancher, so says the family. Be that as it may, he was murdered, and some are saying that it was an ILLEGAL that did it.

Here’s the story from Kimberly Dvorak of San Diego Examiner fame, New Mexico businessman Larry Link murdered on own property, but I want you to keep in mind that Kimberly Dvorak was one of the leading parties in this story a while back, Multiple Ranches in Laredo, TX Taken Over by Los Zetas, and it turned out to be a total HOAX!

We have more than enough problems on the U.S. border with Mexico without some histrionic writer throwing a fictional horror story into the mix. I take anything I read from The Examiner with a grain of salt.

One story that we DO know actually happened was this: Mexican Armed Troops Conduct Vehicle Search On U.S. Soil!!. I reported it and offered video evidence of the incident.

Another incident that happened a couple of years ago was this: Border patrol agent held at gunpoint.

I don’t make up my stories, I’m not a fiction writer or trying to get a gig on a TV show or be a guest on some MSM libber disaster. My stories are factual, and backed by very well researched citation and links TO that citation.

As the tag line on one of the *Cop Shows* says, Ripped from the Headlines, that’s The TexasFred Blog.

I form some pretty rough opinion too, and the one I have right now still tells me that Barack Hussein Obama, Eric Holder, Janet Napolitano and the rest of the Obama Regime, every last one of them, are STUPID.

Janet Napolitano said, The U.S. – Mexico Border is ‘As Secure Now As It Has Ever Been’.

Ask our police officers, our Sheriffs, our DEA, ICE and other agents that work the border just how safe it is. Ask those Texas Rangers how safe they believe it to be.

I think you’ll be surprised at the answers you get if you are a fan of Obama and Janet Napolitano.

One other thing that I MUST say, as long as OUR people, DPS, Rangers and any others that were involved in this operation went home safe and sound, I don’t give a RIP how many wetbacks and drug runners *bled out* in the Rio Grande.

Well Janet Napolitano, is the Border still safe as it ever has been? What in the hell is it going to take for you and your moronic staff to understand our Borders are extremely porous and DANGEROUS. Is it going to take another agents death to open your eyes, or is it the obvious, you just do not give a crap, my bet is on the latter, your actions prove it, as well as your inaction.

Things will never improve with this administration, they have no clue what to do in the first place.

Keep up the good work Fred.

Just up the road from me. Early Reports are that a number of the cartel members were wounded, some seriously. Good.

  3. If anyone had any doubts whatsoever that the “war is on,” let there be no confusion now.

The war for our southern border is on.

Meanwhile, back in DC, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano continues to prove that she is, in fact, insane.

Because, as far as she’s concerned, there is no logic in profiling Muslim men under the age of 35.

Have you EVER, Sir Fred, seen or experienced such insanity on such a national and, further, a global scale?

In my sixth decade, I myself have not.

BZ — I have been to 2 county fairs and one *outlaw* rodeo in west Texas and I have NEVER seen a clusterf**k anywhere near that of the Obama regime and what we see domestically…

Globally? In a past life I have seen some serious *stuff* from foreign leaders, but there was always more than enough influence and persuasion from U.S. leaders to usually resolve most matters before military action was the last remaining option…

Now we’re hearing news that the Nobel Peace Prize winner has him a FOURTH war in the works with covert ops in Yemen…

Well, not as covert as they should be apparently… 😛

Fred – I don’t believe the Obama regime is stupid for one minute. What’s happening on the border is a planned scenario. They want open borders. No one knows what kind of deal they’ve struck with Mexico……..yet. Do know that if border security is to be had its up to the states to do it. Can see armed confrontation between federal and state authorities should that be the case. That’s if the various federal agencies are stupid enough to go along with Obama.

  7. TexasFred says:

MM26 — Not *stupid* in the true sense of the word, not retarded, but just plain STOOPID, the sons a bitches want to destroy America, and THAT is STOOPID…

  8. ng4779 says:

I think POTUS’s next vacay should be right here on the border with no security. I’m sure he wouldn’t have a problem with the girls coming along, right?
