TX High School Students Made to Recite Mexican National Anthem, Pledge of Allegiance

Generally, under NORMAL conditions, I don’t make posts blasting someone I consider to be a fellow *Conservative* blogger, but this is one time that I am NOT going to sit here and allow someone to be denigrated at the hands of a fool…so, please bear with me as this story is told. First, the original story that got some folks back on blood pressure meds…

TX High School Students Made to Recite Mexican National Anthem, Pledge of Allegiance

Students in a Texas public high school were made to stand up and recite the Mexican national anthem and Mexican pledge of allegiance as part of a Spanish class assignment, but the school district maintains there was nothing wrong with the lesson.

It happened last month in an intermediate Spanish class at Achieve Early College High School in McAllen, Texas — a city located about 10 miles from the U.S.-Mexico border.

Wearing red, white and green, students had to memorize the Mexican anthem and pledge and stand up and recite them in individually in front of the class.

That didn’t go over well with sophomore Brenda Brinsdon. The 15-year-old sat down and refused to participate. She also caught it all on video:

McAllen Texas Students Forced to Recite Mexican Pledge and National Anthem

“I just thought it was out of hand, I didn’t think it was right,” she told The Blaze. “Reciting pledges to Mexico and being loyal to it has nothing to do with learning Spanish.”

She said she was particularly offended because the presentations in teacher Reyna Santos’s class took place during “Freedom Week,” the week after the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11 terror attacks, and on U.S. Constitution Day — the same day as Mexico’s Independence Day.

“Why are we doing their independence when it‘s Freedom Week and it’s also Constitution Day?” Brinsdon said.

OK, I can understand how any real American Conservative would get pretty upset over an episode like the above, I know I’m not at all happy about it, I have NO USE for anything Mexican unless it’s on a menu or pushing a lawnmower!

Unlike *some*, I don’t blast the wrong people in the process, here’s the part that has ME a bit chaffed…from Norman Hooben and his blog.

Dump Rick Perry!

Any governor that allows this in state funded schools needs to be fired!  And that especially means Governor Rick Perry…and he thinks he wants to be president.  ~ Norman E. Hooben

PS: I’ll tell ya what Perry…I’ll give ya a second chance if you fire the teacher and the principal and have the students speak English…  It is an American school, isn’t it? SOURCE

This is the Governor of Texas, Rick Perry.

Let me explain something to you Norm, Rick Perry is the GOVERNOR, he is NOT a part of the McAllen Schools system, he is NOT the Superintendent of Schools.

Rick Perry can’t dictate the curriculum of the McAllen schools and he can’t fire anyone IN that school system. I suggest you get your facts straight BEFORE you go off on a tangent and demand that we *Dump Rick Perry*…

Here in Texas we have Independent School Districts, ISDs, and Austin doesn’t manage the districts OR the teachers. Having an axe to grind with Perry is YOUR business, but if you’re going to the grinding wheel, go with FACTS, it’s called Journalistic Integrity, look into it.

Norm, I hate to say this, but today I lost ALL respect for you.

Glad the Spanish teacher loves Mexico so much. She needs to go the fuck back along with her beliefs. School district needs to man up and fire her and the principal. Lot of illegal aliens living in the “valley” that need to sent back with her.

I sent a nice email to the ISD super yesterday. I don’t expect to hear a reply. But this is how I feel about this topic and what transpired.

Looking at the names of the command staff of the McAllen ISD, and going on the assumption that they are all either Hispanics or are married TO Hispanics, I seriously doubt that contacting them would do any good…

Viva La Raza and piss on the Gringos… Bet on it..

  3. mrchuck says:

Just another “ploy” to get more mexicans into the USA.
I bet if someone can trace her finances, money she receives, you will find that the Republic of Mexico is paying her to do this.
I would background check her and her relatives.
Traitors to Texas are NOT treated well, here in Texas.
Tar and feather her and run her out on a rail.

  4. Katie says:

Why are they giving the Nazi salute?

  5. Texasperated says:

I know this is the way the article came out in The Blaze but I heard a slightly different version today. One of my tweeps informed me that he saw this girl on Fox News Channel today (hardly a friend of either Rick Perry or Texas) and she said that the incident did, in fact, take place. TEN YEARS AGO.

So that makes the timing seem awfully suspicious to me if in fact the incident took place not in September of this year when Perry is running for President, but in September of 10 years ago. Now my friend may have gotten confused and the ten years being discussed was “10 years after 9/11″ or some such as it was in the article.

Fred, I don’t know your friend. If he is your friend that speaks highly of him in itself. But as you say, Rick Perry has nothing to do with it anyway. Rowlett, for example, is in the Garland Independent School District. And it is an INDEPENDENT school district. It is self-governing and self-financing (as my property tax bill will attest).

Anyway, I hope to continue looking into that supposed Fox News report and will try to get back to you on what I uncover.

    Keep your powder dry.

  6. Dick Robie says:

Fred is 100% correct on both counts. 1) The Gov doesnt manage schools and set the curriculum and 2) Journalistic Integrity is almost a thing of the past in the USA.

I am very very strong on enforcing existing law re Immegration, but see no reason to attack a candidate for the actions of others over which he has no control - We on the Right need to stick together to rid ourselves of the liar in the White House.

  7. Patrick Sperry says:

In light of the latest information posted perhaps we should all take a deep breath, and slow down…

    Having said that?

Did youtube even exist ten years ago..? If not then how did that youtube thing get posted..? Further, WTH could Rick Perry have had to do with anything at all about this?

Now, my Brother Fred does not like my questions about Rick Perry. He refuses to deal with illegal immigration in a way that most Americans support. On the Second Amendment, he refuses to address the ex post facto laws that are presently the law of the land.

Yet another “hold my nose and vote” seems to be on the horizon…

Now, as far as I am concerned? Ten years or ten minutes ago. Having Americans swear allegiance to another nation, as a part of a school class? Being ordered to commit what amounts to High Treason? I’ll go a step beyond MrChuck, and call for a horsewhipping till naked, then a rather thorough tar and feathering, followed by being hung by the neck until very DEAD! For the teachers, and anyone else involved in such a fiasco.

    But I am just a Conservative Libertarian…

  8. Bloviating Zeppelin says:

    Isn’t it odd?

    That’s happening in TEXAS.

But it isn’t happening in FORNICALIA.

    BZ

    • Patrick Sperry says:

No, not really odd. My birth state has already been lost to LA Raza et al.\

Think about that friend. The sixth largest economy in the world being de facto run by thugs.

I should do an extensive post at CLO on taking back MY BEAUTIFUL STATE from these hooligans.

But that would now be a felony…

      • TexasFred says:

Not happening in California BZ? That’s because California has already been conquered… There’s not much left there to corrupt, and yeah, I know, you have said it before, Texas is going the way of California, but here, were fighting it…

In Cali, you guys sat back and let it fucking happen.. And did nothing to stop or fix it…

  9. Ken O says:

Fred and Co. I am a little disappointed in you. I understand your frustration with La Raza, MECHA and illegal immigration; I am from the Valley for God’s sake. I also am of Hispanic decent, don’t let the blond hair fool you. My father’s family came from Spain to Veracruz, MX in about 1700. Looking at our fair features, obviously there was little to no mixing with the native population. My great grandfather was the first Mexican citizen to attend Cornell University and married another Caucasian, a New Yorker.
My grandfather immigrated, legally, in the 1920′s, worked hard and established a now multi-million dollar business in 1936 that continues to be family owned and operated to this day. Three generations later we are still productive members of society and manage operations in more than one city, our second office opening in 1948. Yes, we were minor nobility and still keep the family’s Spanish coat of arms in the office. Ours is a family history and heritage worth being proud of; do not dare make the mistake of lumping all Hispanics with that particular subset of human excrement that practices nepotism, cronyism, mordida, graft and racism.
That having been said, I find it outrageous that in a country where we no longer recite our Pledge because of some whiny little liberal bitch’s bullshit about “under God”, and our celebrity musicians fuck up the national anthem every time they attempt to perform it, that we would have our students recite the Mexican pledge and anthem on Dieciseis de Septiembre? We need to get over all of this multiculturalism shit in the schools, that should be taught at home, and get back to teaching this generation of ungrateful little fucks some gratitude and what makes this nation the finest ever seen. While we’re at it, let’s enforce our laws, deport the illegals and start taking our classrooms and curriculum back from the SOCIALISTS and liberals who want to destroy us from within. Young, conservative, looking to make a real mark? Then go teach and give these kids a dose of truth and reality!

    • TexasFred says:

      Ken… Disappointed? Seriously??

I too am the grandson of an immigrant and we got NO special treatment, we went to school and our parents taught us right from wrong, we didn’t have a bunch of Mexican-American teachers with a Mexican agenda, we had American teachers, and when I went to school they didn’t have a commie or Socialist agenda..

I am not teaching them anything, if the parents in McAllen can’t, or won’t rise to the occasion then McAllen has a problem…

Young Conservative need to go and teach?? How long do you think a Gringo Conservative would last in that wetback cesspool??

  10. Ken O says:

I was disappointed because I expected a man of obvious intelligence and strong passions to know that when you stereotype a group or an area, or engage in obvious racial prejudice, you weaken what is otherwise a good, strong argument. In addition that kind of writing does no favors for the conservative movement, since the left wing likes to portray us as uneducated, back woods, uncouth, uncultured, racist rednecks. While you make quality points, the overtly racist tone reduces the significance of your argument to the same level as “Blame Whitey”.

    • TexasFred says:

Well Ken, here’s an idea that will make BOTH of us happy; tote your overly sensitive ass away from my “overtly racist” blog… And don’t come back…

As I said, I have no use for ANYTHING Mexican if it doesn’t come off a menu, unless it’s cutting the grass…

Yeah, I AM a bigot, I hate Mexicans, all of em, and I hate what they are doing to this nation, them and all other ILLEGALS… You don’t like that, teach the goddamned Mexicans to become Americans, teach all the ILLEGALS to come here legally, YOU teach em Ken, because it seems they are YOUR people…

It never fails, when the shit hits the fan, you people will always stick together and it’s the Gringos that are racists… YOU threw the race card, now I am throwing your ass OUT… Adios pendejo… Via con El Diablo…

  11. Robert says:

Here’s the problem there sport (Ken O) YOU came in the right way (Assumption mine) and you appear to have “Assimilated” and have adopted the culture of your host country without feeling the need to have “Dual” loyalties. These asshats in the classrooms of classes across the nation DON’T have to assimilate because our liberalism has deemed it “Wrong” “racist” or whatever… This is why we are in the mess we’re in.

Prisons are filled with Illegals and Legals alike who are of “Latino” decent. More so than the black culture who we all know are innocent and it’s racism that put them in jail.. Sarcasm.

The root of the problem is assimilation and the lack of it. The brainwashing in PUBLIC TAXPAYER SCHOOLS are the root of the problem Lets look at why for just one example. BUTTS IN SEATS for FEDERAL MONEY! It doesn’t matter who or where the fed and states pay for asses in seats. Illegals or not. And the teachers get paid with that money too… funny aint it… ha fkn ha. Not.
