5 charged in 9/11 attack resist Gitmo hearing

Guantanamo Bay Naval Base, Cuba (AP) - The self-proclaimed mastermind of the Sept. 11 attacks repeatedly declined to answer a judge’s questions Saturday and his co-defendants knelt in prayer in what appeared to be a concerted protest against the military proceedings.

Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four other men appeared for the first time in more than three years for arraignment at a military tribunal at Guantanamo Bay. They’re charged with 2,976 counts of murder for the 2001 attacks.

The hearing quickly bogged down before they could be arraigned.

Mohammed and his co-defendants took off the earphones that provide Arabic translations and refused to answer any questions from the judge, Army Col. James Pohl, dramatically slowing a hearing that is heavy on military legal procedure.

Nearly 3,000 Americans died on Sept. 11, 2001. These guys are responsible for those deaths, so, my big question is this; WHY are these cretins still breathing air?

I know we’re a nation of laws, and I fully agree that these trials need to be conducted at Gitmo as opposed to a civilian courts in New York (sit on it Obama), but it’s been over 10 years since the attacks, and these ANIMALS are still alive.

So, we’re going to be *fair*? These monsters are NOT Americans, do we owe them *fair*?

U.S. to Restart Tribunal, Aiming to Show It’s Fair

Guantanamo Bay, Cuba — As the United States restarts its effort to prosecute — and ultimately execute — five detainees accused of conspiring in the Sept. 11 attacks, it has fallen to Brig. Gen. Mark S. Martins both to prove them guilty and to show the world that the tribunal system is now legitimate.

“We’re going to have a fair trial,” General Martins, the chief prosecutor in the military commissions system, said in an interview this week. “There are a lot of people who come to this with preconceptions about unfairness, and I would just ask people to withhold judgment. The initial version of commissions was flawed, but there has been a lot of work on reforms.”

The nearly 3,000 Americans that were MURDERED on Sept. 11, 2001, do you suppose that they felt the treatment they received was *fair*?

Was it *fair* for those poor people that were incinerated in the initial strike? How about those that were killed when the towers collapsed? Do you suppose the word *fair* crossed their minds? Then there’s those that chose to jump rather than be burned to death. It took several seconds for them to hit the ground … do you suppose they thought that *fair*?

I have serious issues with the actions some of our troops engaged in when they desecrated the bodies of DEAD Taliban fighters, I will always believe it wrong to desecrate the bodies of the dead, but people like Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, they aren’t dead.

I have NO problem with making them DEAD. And I’m not real picky about how they get that way either!

Do you really want me to say how I give a crap?

This is absolute *Bull Shit*. 3000 Americans slaughtered, and they care about fairness?

Please, just give me about 10 seconds with the pile of garbage and I will show you fair.

Is this another Hussein Obama’s way of showing his Muslims Brothers he is fair.

It would take me about 5 seconds to place about 25 cents of lead in their head(s). Not to worry, they could have their last meal….PORK CHOPS..

I may be in the minority, but I’m glad these swine are still alive. Death is too good for them. Let the dream about the virgins waiting for them in the hereafter.

My biggest complaint is that they get treatment way better than they deserve.

I’d be happy to let them live as long as they will, but in the most basic and austere conditions: bread and water; an 8×6 cell with a cot, no window, no air conditioning (Cuba in the summer ought to make them think about their deeds); one hour a day to walk around the prison yard, no basketball, no weight-lifting; no contact with the outside world, particularly relatives; no Quran, but Jimmy Swaggert piped in 10 hours a day.

    You get the picture.

The military wants to be fair? Gee, where they fair to the three Navy SEAL’s who were Courts Martialed because Ahmed Hashim Abed, one the most wanted terrorists in Iraq, claimed he was given a fat lip by the SEAL’s. No proof, no witnesses, just his claim of a murdering terrorist and three of our best are Courts Martialed.

  4. minuteman26 says:

Fairness for our enemies? How about no quarter? These people are prisoners and need to be treated according to military law; no more no less. Fairness to ones enemies is another indication of the pussification of our military by Obama.

  5. Bloviating Zeppelin says:

I can’t respond right now; I’m too seething. Fair. Right. Fair. Of course.

    We have to be fair.

2,900 Americans reduced to liquid tissue in hundreds of thousands of tons of concrete and steel.

  6. Cary says:

    OK, let’s make it fair.

Build five poles, about 300 ft. high. Place a platform at the top of each pole, about 5′x5′ oughta do it.

Pipe up one thing: jet fuel. let it trickle onto the platform, and drip back down, to be recycled as long as the detainees want it to.

Place said detainees on the platforms. Hand them a lighter, with a reverse trigger on it - that’s right, a “dead man’s” switch, to activate the lighter when they release it. Tether this lighter to their bodies, so they cannot throw it away from where they are.

Tell them they have the four and a half seconds that it took for most of the jumpers to hit the ground to decide if they, too, want to jump, or if they will release the lighter, immolating themselves in much the way a majority of the victims were. At the end of the four and a half seconds, if they do not choose, then drop slabs of steel and concrete on them. Repeatedly.

    Yeah, that sounds “fair”.

All bases have a large incinerator for the base garbage and documents.
    So, USE IT !!!

  8. Katie says:

In American courts if the defendant(s) act up like this they are taken to a holding room with speakers in them. There they can listen to the proceedings. I suggest that this be done immediately. The nonsense will stop.

  9. Patrick Sperry says:

I myself would prefer to return to the old heathen days of the British Empire. To wit; toss them into a coffin, one with a hole in the top and a plug. Fill said coffin with pig blood, freshly slaughtered so that they can hear them squeal as they drown. Do this in front of their followers… Has a similar effect as when the Hmoung would put Viet (either North or South) on sticks along the perimeter and trails…

Fair trial for admitted killers? Screw that.
