AP IMPACT: Cartels dispatch agents deep inside US

CHICAGO (AP) - Mexican drug cartels whose operatives once rarely ventured beyond the U.S. border are dispatching some of their most trusted agents to live and work deep inside the United States - an emboldened presence that experts believe is meant to tighten their grip on the world’s most lucrative narcotics market and maximize profits.

If left unchecked, authorities say, the cartels’ move into the American interior could render the syndicates harder than ever to dislodge and pave the way for them to expand into other criminal enterprises such as prostitution, kidnapping-and-extortion rackets and money laundering.

Cartel activity in the U.S. is certainly not new. Starting in the 1990s, the ruthless syndicates became the nation’s No. 1 supplier of illegal drugs, using unaffiliated middlemen to smuggle cocaine, marijuana and heroin beyond the border or even to grow pot here.

But a wide-ranging Associated Press review of federal court cases and government drug-enforcement data, plus interviews with many top law enforcement officials, indicate the groups have begun deploying agents from their inner circles to the U.S. Cartel operatives are suspected of running drug-distribution networks in at least nine non-border states, often in middle-class suburbs in the Midwest, South and Northeast. There are some that believe cartels are responsible for the deaths of Kaufman County DA Mike McLelland and his wife Cynthia. I don’t know if that is the fact of the matter or not, but I do know this; it’s not out of the realm of possibilities.

I also know this; IF the United States government, ie: Barack Obama, Eric Holder and the Department of Homeland Security doesn’t get a grip on this cartel activity, the good Ol’ USA is headed into Third World irrelevancy with cartel violence taking place on the streets of THIS nation; just like it happens in Mexico on an almost daily basis.

“It’s probably the most serious threat the United States has faced from organized crime,” said Jack Riley, head of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s Chicago office.

Organized crime; over the years that has been a handy *catch-all* name, and it may be an appropriate one, it appears that *crime lords* are, and always have been, rather well organized.

For a long time it was the Mafia, the mob, La Cosa Nostra, whatever you want to call it, and for a long time the FBI, under J. Edgar Hoover, denied that the Mafia even existed.

Of course Hoover was wrong, the Mafia was deeply involved in every act of criminality that could be conceived. They ran drugs, gambling, prostitution, the *numbers* racket and God only knows what else, but the greatest investigative agency in the world didn’t want to admit that the Mob was real.

As the underworld progressed there were many more groups that became engaged in organized crime, and they milked the American economy of BILLIONS of dollars. What they couldn’t steal, they blew up so others couldn’t use it.

For a very long time Asian gangs ran their own little crime world, but today even they are being pushed out of the business by the ruthless tactics employed by Mexican cartels.

I’m not going to go into explicit detail about the actions of Mexican drug cartels and their activities in Mexico, but I will say this; I have been made privy to some photos that were taken at the scenes of Mexican cartel violence, photos of drugs, money, weapons, vehicles and bodies, ALL of it. Most of the bodies are shot to pieces or have their heads missing.

That is the method of enforcement the cartels use against their enemies.

I read and hear hard-core Libertarians and Liberals saying they want to legalize drugs, make them readily available and tax them like the taxes on tobacco and alcohol. They seem to think that this legalization and taxation will eliminate the drug business, and the cartels from the American landscape.

These Libs, Libertarian and Liberal, are WRONG!

Legalization will add money to the price of narcotics thus causing the *user* to engage in even more theft and robbery to feed their *habit*, and as such, a *cut rate* Black Market will emerge and the cartels will still be in business, maybe not making a billion dollars a day, but all the same, they will still be making huge sums of money as they spread their poison in America.

I say this in all seriousness; the powers that be need to ramp up, I mean drastically ramp up their efforts to secure our border with Mexico, hunt down and arrest these cartel *bosses* and get them out of America, dead or alive.

I prefer DEAD!
