Texas AG Abbott says voter ID law will ‘take effect immediately’
The Texas Department of Public Safety has declared that, effective immediately, voters must show identification before they’re allowed to cast a ballot in state and local elections.
The declaration, announced in a press release, came mere hours after the Supreme Court of the United States struck down a key provision in The Voting Rights Act of 1965 that prohibits certain states from changing voting laws without first gaining approval from the federal government or in federal court.
“With today’s decision, the State’s voter ID law will take effect immediately. Redistricting maps passed by the Legislature may also take effect without approval from the federal government,” said Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott. SOURCE
Almost immediately the howl of RACISM was heard from all of the usual suspects! It came from all over the *Land of the Democrat*. Dem/Libtards of all races, colors and nationality howled like wounded animals as they bemoaned what they see as a return to the days of slavery, or something.
‘Our people are being discriminated against’ was the gist of the cries, the pitiful excuses were flowing like the wine these people buy when they cash their welfare check at a liquor store where they pick up a few bottles of Ripple and a pack of Kools. You see, the people complaining the most about Voter ID and not having one are the folks that DO take part in everyday business transactions that DO require some kind of valid STATE ID.
Strange how all of a sudden those that have an ID think they shouldn’t have to have one when it comes time to vote. Personally, I am convinced that these people are the very ones the ID law is designed to stop, not stop from voting, but to stop them from voting several times in the same election.
Rene Martinez, the director of the northeast district of the League of United Latin American Citizens, said the ruling is a big blow to the 1.3 million Hispanics of voting age. He said he’s concerned that redrawn maps and other decisions could result in minorities being pushed out of the political process here.
“It sets us back. It’s regressive and a lot of us do not have a lot of faith in what’s going to happen,” he said. “It opens the door for a lot of repressive action on the part of legislators and the governor.”
That is the biggest line of lying BS to come out of the Dems so far. Even Sheila Jackson Lee isn’t THAT stupid. Well, OK, maybe she IS, but she wasn’t the worst one of the bunch this time.
The DPS release says the state will begin issuing free voter identification cards on Wednesday.
Also accepted at the polls: a Texas driver’s license, a Texas personal identification card, a U.S. passport, a Texas concealed handgun license, U.S. military identification or a U.S. citizenship certificate.
So, just HOW easy is it to get a Texas Election Identification Certificate, one that enables you to vote in ALL elections?
Well, it’s just THIS easy; click the link and follow the simple directions. TxDPS - Election Identification Certificate (EIC). It can’t get any less complicated, at least not in MY opinion, and quite frankly, I see absolutely nothing in this that could be considered RACIST or would possibly disenfranchise so much as one person.
I think *The RACE Card* has been over-played, I am of the opinion that we are ALL equal and we all have equal opportunity in life. What a person DOES with that opportunity is an entirely different matter.
And if you think this isn’t a GOOD thing; think of this:
Obama admin. ‘deeply disappointed’ by Voting Rights ruling
“I am deeply disappointed with the Supreme Court’s decision today,” the president said in a statement released by the White House. “For nearly 50 years, the Voting Rights Act—enacted and repeatedly renewed by wide bipartisan majorities in Congress—has helped secure the right to vote for millions of Americans. Today’s decision invalidating one of its core provisions upsets decades of well-established practices that help make sure voting is fair, especially in places where voting discrimination has been historically prevalent.” SOURCE
If Obama is disappointed it’s because the Dem President sees himself and his party as the victims of an evil WHITE conspiracy. He may also be disappointed because he just found out that the words of Lyndon Baines Johnson don’t hold water any longer.
“I’ll have those niggers voting Democratic for the next 200 years.” —Lyndon B. Johnson to two governors on Air Force One -
“These Negroes, they’re getting pretty uppity these days and that’s a problem for us since they’ve got something now they never had before, the political pull to back up their uppityness. Now we’ve got to do something about this, we’ve got to give them a little something, just enough to quiet them down, not enough to make a difference.”—LBJ SOURCE
One other thing I am obligated to point out; LBJ was a Liberal Democrat. Just sayin’…
Your entire post is relevant, but especially the last part. You point out that LBJ was as racist as they come, but also a liberal Democrat. For far too long, the Republican Party has bore the brunt of the charges of racism, but in reality, it is the Democratic Party who is much more guilty. It irks them when we point out how they have been guilty of racism, but it is the truth, nonetheless.
I find it also hypocritical and humorous that they cry foul when states want to require voter ID cards. Like you said, it is not difficult to obtain an ID, but they act as if we are asking for them to go to Mars and back.
Just doing what I can to stir the pot and tell the truth….
The best way to kill a Libber is with facts and truth… I have a bunch of both..
Excellent review of some important political facts that the dems refuse to take ownership of. Now the race card will be played out in full force. Immigration, the Martin case , now this. At least perhaps we might get an honest election with I.d.s.
I have known that last part for a long time, never had an appropriate time and place to use it, until now..
If finger prints or retina scans were used for voting ID, these race biters would still be crying. You hit the nail on the head Fred when you said they want to use them to cast as many votes as they can.
They’re worried about congressional district lines being redrawn. Well, they need to be redrawn so as not to look like someone on meth drew them. When the Irish, Italians, Germans, English, and other Europeian groups came here, they lived in their little “ghetto’s” for a while but eventually spread out and melted in with the other Americans who had been here. I would say it’s time for other minorities to do the same but their “leaders” want them in their ghetto’s living poor and dependent upon the Democrats for survival.
