Official says CIA-funded weapons have begun to reach Syrian rebels; rebels deny receipt

Washington (CNN) — CIA-funded weapons have begun flowing to Syrian rebels, a U.S. official told CNN. But opposition groups say they have yet to receive any.

The official confirmed details first reported by the Washington Post but would not speak publicly.

“That is something we are not going to dispute, but we are not going to publicly speak to it,” the official said.

The weapons are not American-made, but are funded and organized by the CIA. They started to reach rebels about two weeks ago, the official said. SOURCE

Does anyone remember the story of U.S. Congressman Charlie Wilson who partnered with CIA operative Gust Avrakotos to launch Operation Cyclone, a program to organize and support the Afghan Mujahideen during the Soviet war in Afghanistan?

Operation Cyclone was the code name for the United States Central Intelligence Agency program to arm and finance the Afghan mujahideen prior to and during the Soviet war in Afghanistan, 1979 to 1989. The program leaned heavily towards supporting militant Islamic groups that were favored by neighboring Pakistan, rather than other, less ideological Afghan resistance groups that had also been fighting the Marxist-oriented Democratic Republic of Afghanistan regime since before the Soviet intervention.

Does anyone know, or remember what happened to those weapons? Does anyone realize that the Afghan Mujahideen went on to become the Taliban, al-Qaeda or, if you prefer, the Muslim Brotherhood?

Afghanistan was having a civil war, one much similar to that seen in Syria, and other regions of the Mid-East today, and once the Soviet Union became involved Afghan *freedom fighters* and Afghan civilians were being killed in large numbers by the Soviet war machine and Mohammad Najibullah’s PDPA during the civil war in Afghanistan.

Enter Charlie Wilson and Gust Avrakotos, the power and money of the United States and the covert operations ability of the Central Intelligence Agency and voila, the Soviets were fought and defeated, the Afghan people were free of *the Russian Bear* and all was right in the world. Right?

Wrong!

Once the Afghans were done fighting the Soviets the Mujahideen evolved into the Taliban, al-Qaeda and the Muslim Brotherhood.

The former *Afghan Freedom Fighters* detested America, *The Great Satan* as they call it, and there was a movement afoot to attack America; hence the first attack on the World Trade Center, the U.S.S. Cole was attacked and, ultimately, the devastating attacks of 9-11-01.

Those weapons that the CIA supplied you ask? Americans troops have died because of those weapons. American troops, to this very day, are still facing weapons, in the hands of those former *Afghan Freedom Fighters* that were supplied by the United States of America.

I am not against supplying the Syrian National Coalition and the Free Syrian Army with weapons they can use to fight against Bashir al-Assad. Likewise, I am not against the Russians supplying Bashir al-Assad with weapons to counter the Syrian National Coalition and the Free Syrian Army.

I can almost hear Community Organizer-In-Chief Barack Hussein Obama saying, “Quick! Start a war in Syria. The American people are still paying attention to their own country and they are still saying that I am a crook and a scandal!”

There’s nothing that takes the mind off of domestic troubles like American involvement in a HOT war on foreign soil, or so Obama and Company believes.

Never forget 9-11-01 or 9-11-12! Never take your eye off of the antics of Barack Hussein Obama and his band of ne’er do-wells as they shuck and jive, lie, obfuscate, tell tall tales, whatever you want to call it; NEVER take your eyes OFF of Obama, watch his every move, dissect his every word and NEVER, not for so much as one minute, ever believe that he has the best interest of America in his BLACK HEART!

As an aside; on 9-11-13 the White House observed a minute of silence for victims 9-11-01; also, the White House has observed 525,600 minutes of silence for victims of 9-11-12 in Benghazi.

Think about that one for a minute…
