Health care bill faces a crucial Senate vote

WASHINGTON (AP) - Democrats called a revamp of the nation’s health care system long overdue as historic legislation advanced toward a Saturday night Senate showdown, an early test of party unity on President Barack Obama’s top domestic initiative

“The country suffers when there is a failure to act on serious challenges that millions of ordinary Americans face in their daily lives,” Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., said during debate in a rare weekend session.

Democratic leaders are optimistic of success, but they need every Democrat and both independents to vote “yes,” and two moderates remained uncommitted ahead of the roll call, which is expected around 8 p.m. EST. The vote will determine whether debate can go forward on Majority Leader Harry Reid’s 2,074-page bill to overhaul health care over the next decade.

United in opposition, Republicans cast the bill as a costly government takeover, built on budget gimmicks.

I’m seeing a lot of folks on Facebook, and in various blogs, making that last minute desperation plea for everyone to call this Senator or that Senator and tell them to vote NO on ObamaCare.

Here’s the truth folks, and this will NOT make me popular with some of you, but, that’s OK too. I don’t blog to make other people happy anyway, I blog to make ME happy, and to speak the TRUTH as I see it.

The fix is in with of these cretins. This is what happens when you have a bunch of crooked Democratic welfare slugs standing around with their hands out. And lets face the facts, if YOUR Senator hasn’t already made up his/her, and made an open statement regarding their vote on this debacle at this late date, well, it’s a bit too late to be trying to influence them now.

The two Democratic holdouts are Sens. Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas and Mary Landrieu of Louisiana. A third centrist, Ben Nelson of Nebraska, announced Friday that he’d be supporting his party on the test vote, while cautioning that it didn’t mean he’d be with them on the final vote.

I’m going to offer MY opinion on Mary Landrieu of Louisiana, and again, I may not make some people happy with that opinion, but what the hell…

Mary Landrieu is a WHORE! Bought and paid for. Call it whatever you like, WHORE is how I see it, because it seems that she was assured $100 MILLION dollars for the state of Louisiana FOR her vote and her continued support of the Democratic party line.

I have NO knowledge of Sens. Blanche Lincoln and Ben Nelson, I will leave them to be soundly trounced by the folks that DO know them.

I am a native OF Louisiana. Thank GOD that I was able to make the escape from there! ALL of my immediate family still lives in Louisiana. I have a pretty solid finger on the pulse of Louisiana politics, and the less than scrupulous cretins that still find their way into office from that state. I have no problem with pointing out how they prostitute themselves instead of voting the wishes of their constituents.

Let me offer a great example of just exactly what I am talking about.

A guy is sitting at the bar and he sees this beautiful woman walk in and sit down. He walks over and sits down with her and offers to buy her a drink.

As conversation progresses, the guy gets pretty bold and looks at the woman and asks, “Would you go to bed with me for a million dollars?”

The woman looks at the guy and says, “Why yes, I believe I would!”

So, the guy looks at her and says, “Would you go to bed with me for $20?”

The woman is terribly insulted and says angrily, ” Certainly NOT! What in the hell do you think I am?”

The guy replies calmly, “We’ve already established WHAT you are. Now we’re negotiating the price!”

It appears to me that Mary Landrieu has set HER price…

    You have Mary Landrieu right Fred, she is just like her daddy Moon. I have little doubt how she will vote in the end. As for Blanche Lincoln, which ever way she goes her time in the Senate is coming to an end with the next election cycle in 2010—she is up for re-election then. If she votes with the republicans her base will desert and she will be beat in the Democratic primary and if she votes with her party that vote will be so unpopular in Arkansas that she will lose in the general. I think she will take her change in the general and tow the party line. Harry Reid knows he has the votes or he would not bring this up.

    You are right about all those contacting their senators at this time. This vote tonight is a done deal and we will have to wait until the next one in December or January and attempt to affect the outcome of that one, it the scumbags will listen to the people and that, my friend, is doubtful.

    Yes, sadly, the “fix” is already in, no matter what anyone does at the Last Hour of Sanity. No amount of calls or e-mails or texts or Tweets or Blits or Boops or letter or electrical bullshit is going to make a hind-tit’s difference in the vote tonight.

    And yes, I DID see that the bill itself carries OBVIOUS and TREASONOUS material in it, CLEARLY crafted to PURCHASE VOTES.

    And the bulk of the “People” are sufficiently STUPID and sufficient DRUGGED to not know or not care!

    YES. There IS, on page 432 of the bill, $100 MILLION DOLLARS, just as you write, earmarked to Lousiana in order to BUY OFF Landrieu!

    The fix is oh-so-in.

    The LABORS of the Cloward-Piven Strategy are soon about to bear fruit, at the expense, literally, of the entire nation.

    On to amnesty. On to CapNTax. Marching ever on towards complete governmental control and true Socialism.

    All the US Representatives and US Senators who voted for this healthcare legislation are TRAITORS to this once great country. (A vote tonight for taking this bill out of commitee does infact insure this bill will become law.) It insures a loss of our freedom, taxation the likes that can’t yet be imagined, and the demise of our democratic republic. I can’t beleive these elected assholes would ignore their constituants and throw in with this marxist administration. All who voted yes should be hunted down, tried as the traitors they are and punished appropriatly.(That being shot or hung). Next they are going to push through cap and tax, which guarantees third world nation status. Its time to take back what has been stolen from us and restore the nation back to what Washington, Jefferson and Franklin envisioned. As the commercial says “ITS ON”.

    OK, so it goes to open floor debate, and then, maybe passes…

    After 2010, if the GOP can take the House and Senate back, can’t this thing be repealed? I know Obama would veto, but then it goes back for a vote on his veto and voila, it’s gone…

    And no matter how it goes, the complexion of the House AND Senate needs to change drastically in 2010…

    TF: it needs to change drastically, yes, but in just the past elections the GOP did acquire some governorships, but lost two senate seats. I wish I could be more confident. If the Senate pulls the votes and whacks-in cloture, that could actually seal debate and force a vote. Time, they know, is the real monster here. The more the bill is examined, the more of a bastard it’s revealed to be. I’m just not so confident the Dems can’t pull this off.

    And, of course, if the door is kicked and forced open on this, everyone and their brother will talk amnesty, CapNTax, card check, etc., right on through.

    This really is a pivotal moment for the Demorats.

    The vote just passed the senate. I think that once Landrieu pimped herself out and took the $100 million bribe the outcome was certain. People like Lincoln and Nelson can say they oppose this bill all they want but their actions tell us all we need to know.

    Once again, Fred, is Swami Fred…

    At least both of my Senators held their ground. Now, the real question is; when, not if, but when secession rolls around? How the hell will Wyoming get connected with Texas!

    Colorado might be in for a rough ride…
