The TRUTH about 9-11 Truthers
There are many stories connected to the 9-11 Truther movement and those that subscribe to the 9-11 Truther mantra. They’ve been accused of being lunatics, traitors, full blown conspiracy theorists and much more.
What follows is not necessarily MY opinion of the 9-11 Truthers, I am simply going to present a few things I found by doing a simple Google search.
The first thing I want to show you is the Mission Statement of the 9-11 Truthers.
OUR MISSION
TO EXPOSE the official lies and cover-up surrounding the events of September 11th, 2001 in a way that inspires the people to overcome denial and understand the truth; namely, that elements within the US government and covert policy apparatus must have orchestrated or participated in the execution of the attacks for these to have happened in the way that they did.
TO PROMOTE, and in part to provide, the best in investigative reporting, scholarly research and public education regarding the suppressed realities of September 11th, its aftermath and exploitation for political ends, the toxic air cover-up, and the anthrax attacks; mindful always of standards of fact and logic, the limits of what we know in the absence of official investigative powers, and the dangers of rumor and unconfirmed or false claims. MUCH MORE HERE
There is much more information at that link regarding the 9-11 Truthers, including their Overview, Editorial Policy, their Steering Committee members and a few other tidbits. It’s a very long page and filled with what they consider to be their high points and accomplishments.
It all sounds innocuous enough, right? I mean, who doesn’t want the TRUTH?
OK, let’s delve a bit further into the 9-11 Truther movement and see what else there is to know about them.
Many adherents of the 9/11 Truth movement suspect that United States government insiders played a part in the attacks, or at the very least knew they were coming and let them occur anyway.
Those within the movement who argue that insiders within the United States government were directly responsible for the September 11 attacks often allege that the attacks were planned and executed in order to provide the U.S. with a pretext for going to war in the Middle East and, by extension, as a means of consolidating and extending the power of the Bush Administration. According to these allegations, this would have given the Bush administration the justification to clamp down on civil liberties and invade Afghanistan and Iraq to ensure future supplies of oil. In some cases, hawks in the White House, especially former Vice President Dick Cheney, and members of the Project for the New American Century, a neoconservative think tank, have been accused of involvement in or awareness of the alleged plot.
Many adherents of the 9/11 Truth movement allege that the buildings of the World Trade Center have been destroyed by controlled demolition, a theory of major importance for the 9/11 Truth movement.SOURCE
So, according to this, the 9-11 Truthers believe the government did it, or knew about it and then sat back and allowed it to happen anyway? If I am understanding this correctly, the 9-11 Truth people believe that somehow, Bush did it, caused it or allowed it to happen. Interesting.
In September 2002, the first “Bush Did It!” rallies and marches were held in San Francisco and Oakland, California organized by The All People’s Coalition.
In October 2004, the organization 9/11 Truth released a statement, signed by nearly 200 people, including many relatives of people who perished on September 11, 2001, that calls for an investigation into the attacks. It also asserted that unanswered questions would suggest that people within the administration of former President G. W. Bush may have deliberately allowed the attacks to happen. Actor Edward Asner, former presidential candidate Ralph Nader, former congresswoman Cynthia McKinney, former assistant secretary of housing Catherine Austin Fitts, author Richard Heinberg, Enver Masud, founder of The Wisdom Fund, professors Richard Falk of the University of California, Mark Crispin Miller of New York University, Douglas Sturm of Bucknell University, Burns H. Weston of the Iowa Law School and others signed the statement. In 2009, Van Jones, a former advisor to President Obama, said he hadn’t fully reviewed the statement before he signed and that the petition did not reflect his views “now or ever.” SOURCE
But aren’t these the same people that accused George W. Bush of being the dumbest man in the entire United States? A guy that they claim couldn’t *chew gum and walk*? Yet he orchestrated the biggest, and most deadly attack to ever take place against the continental USA? And kept it a secret too? That’s strange.
As a side note, Van Jones said he hadn’t fully reviewed the statement before he signed it and that the petition did not reflect his views “now or ever.”
Not to accuse Mr. Jones of being stupid, but would YOU sign something of this importance if YOU hadn’t read it first? That action was from the a man Barack Hussein Obama wanted as an advisor.
The pages referenced above have much more that can be read regarding the accusations that the 9-11 Truthers offer in support of their point of view if you are so inclined to read them.
There we have it, the 9-11 Truthers side of things.
In the interest of Fair and Balanced, let’s see what others had to say about the 9-11 Truthers and their theories.
From National Geographic:
Calling all 9/11 Truthers: the National Geographic Channel will be airing a program on Monday evening that will debunk many of your conspiracy theories.
Aptly named “9/11: Science and Conspiracy,” the special aims to address some of the most common connivances espoused by wackos like Rosie O’Donnell.
Such theories include (video preview embedded below the fold, h/t Craig Moncho):SOURCE
From Debunking 9/11:
…Yet, in just under four years, the 9/11 “truth movement” has ground to a halt. Apart from the fundamental incoherence of their theories, the downfall of the 9/11 denier juggernaut was good old-fashioned skepticism at its finest, the kind that conjures visions of James Randi challenging psychics and faith healers on their home turfs and winning. Skeptics are better at their jobs than they think, and its important to give credit where credit is due. SOURCE
From Popular Mechanics:
From the moment the first airplane crashed into the World Trade Center on the morning of September 11, 2001, the world has asked one simple and compelling question: How could it happen?
Three and a half years later, not everyone is convinced we know the truth. Go to Google.com, type in the search phrase “World Trade Center conspiracy” and you’ll get links to an estimated 628,000 Web sites. More than 3000 books on 9/11 have been published; many of them reject the official consensus that hijackers associated with Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda flew passenger planes into U.S. landmarks.
Healthy skepticism, it seems, has curdled into paranoia. Wild conspiracy tales are peddled daily on the Internet, talk radio and in other media. Blurry photos, quotes taken out of context and sketchy eyewitness accounts have inspired a slew of elaborate theories: The Pentagon was struck by a missile; the World Trade Center was razed by demolition-style bombs; Flight 93 was shot down by a mysterious white jet. As outlandish as these claims may sound, they are increasingly accepted abroad and among extremists here in the United States.SOURCE
From Mary Katharine Ham:
Myth No. 1: Four novice pilots with no experience could never have successfully guided those planes into three out of four targets.
Fact: The hijackers were not experienced pilots, nor had they ever piloted commercial airliners, but they also didn’t have to do any of the three most difficult flying maneuvers—flying in inclement weather, taking off, or landing. Only four of the hijackers were trained to fly—one for each flight. Three of the four had trained and earned private pilot’s licenses. The fourth, Hani Hanjour (American Airlines Flight 77) had both a private and commercial license, and experience with small commercial aircraft.
All were trained in auto-pilot and navigational systems, and would have only had to plug in GPS coordinates and point the planes in the right direction to hit their targets. The day was clear, the targets were clearer. Experts conclude their skills would have been more than sufficient to finish their missions.MORE HERE
The list goes on and on. If you do a Google search for 9-11 Truthers debunked, you can spend hours upon hours reading all the reasons to disbelieve the 9-11 Truthers.
Some say that when a reporter or host asks a guest, a guest that happens to be a politician, if, in fact, they are 9-11 Truthers themselves, well, that’s just nothing but ambush journalism. So some say.
Personally, I think it’s a fair question to ask of ANY politician that is even remotely suspected of being a 9-11 Truther, and a question that could be answered in a succinct manner. A simple YES or NO would suffice.
Glenn Beck asked Debra Medina if SHE is a 9-11 truther, Debra Medina is a 9-11 Truther and Ms. Medina came unhinged in her response. That mean old Glenn Beck, how dare he ask Ms. Medina such a question. Surely her being connected to the 9-11 Truthers has nothing to do with a run at the Texas Governors office. Or does it?
Ms. Medina is a staunch supporter of Ron Paul. Ron Paul is a staunch supporter of Ms. Medina. It is said by some that Ms. Medina is a disciple of Ron Paul. It is believed by many that Ron Paul is the most well known supporter OF the 9-11 Truthers.
Before Ms. Medina can be fully vetted and found fit to be Governor of the great state of Texas, I believe it’s only fair that she be asked these types of questions. And her answer spoke volumes about Ms. Medina and her ability to respond to a controversial question and think on her feet.
Yeah, she was ambushed. 😛
During his run for POTUS Ron Paul was ambushed too! FOX News reporter Carl Cameron asked Ron Paul a similar question.
During Thursday night’s Republican debate, after the other candidates had been invited to exchange views on whether the Reagan conservative coalition is now a thing of the past, Fox host Carl Cameron turned to Ron Paul with a very different question.
“Many of your supporters call themselves ‘9/11 Truthers,'” Cameron began. “They believe that the US government was in some way complicit with the 9/11 attacks or covered it up. Are you prepared to either embrace that rhetoric or ask those supporters to abandon it or divorce themselves from your candidacy?”
“Well, I can’t tell people what to do, but I’ve abandoned those viewpoints,” Paul replied. “I don’t believe that, and that’s the only thing that is important. … But I would like to take an opportunity to talk about the issue that we’ve been debating here for the last 20 minutes.”
Rather than letting Paul join in the general discussion, however, Cameron continued to attempt to corner him on the 9/11 question, demanding, “Would you ask them to cease that rhetoric tonight on your behalf?”
“Well, it doesn’t do me any good,” answered Paul, “so if they care about me they should, but the only thing I have control over is what I believe and what I say. I can’t tell them what to do. … So please, could I participate in the current debate …”SOURCE
Some call it ambush journalism, I call it asking the hard questions, the questions that give you an insight into the candidates REAL feelings. When a candidate is asked a question that can be put to rest with a simple one or two words answer, but launches into a tirade instead, and then has to issue an additional press statement to explain the *true* meaning of their initial response, well, a statement characterized by duplicity is not a statement that indicates strength or credibility in MY opinion.
It seems to me that any time the question of 9-11 Truthers is brought up, many of Ron Paul’s and Debra Medina’s supporters get terribly offended and immediately go on the defensive in their behalf.
If the 9-11 Truthers feel they are so correct in their assumptions, why do they not just stand their ground instead of crying and complaining about ambush journalism?
In my opinion, it’s because they know that they are wrong, and are nothing more than a bunch of moonbat conspiracy theorists that don’t have a leg to stand on!
But, that’s just MY opinion. 😈
It was sometime after 9/11 that I began to hear the conspiracy theories. Frankly, my first impression was that of shock, but I must admit they did plant a small doubt in the back of my mind as the rumors just keep coming. But then my common sense kicked in and I completely rejected these wild fantasies.
Looks like you did your homework on this one Fred. Well organized and written.
I seldom buy into conspiracy theories, but I still have major doubts today about the JFK event in Dallas. Also still wondering around somewhere in my mind is an even older conspiracy about the attack on Pearl Harbor. Did FDR have knowledge of the attack before it came and decide to let it happen so we could enter the war and help out Britain and the USSR—that’s another whole story.
I personally think that those who support the 9/11 conspiracy fall mainly into that group that does not like America and particularly a republican administration. They seem to blame America for everything evil in the world and the 9/11 attack was food for their plate and they could not let it pass without taking a full helping.
According to the 9-11 Truthers:
From the “Land of Fruits and Nuts” we get the 9/11 Truthers and the Progressive Movement. What a combo. No wonder California is in the shape its in. Anyone want to take bets as to when the big quake is due. But I digress. Seems most of the Truther wackos are also Progressive wackos. They are all dangerous and will cause great harm to the country if any get elected to political office of any kind. Both movements need to be put down.
Would I be insulting all the self-respecting moonbats if I said that all truther’s are moonbats? Well, they are and so be it!
As for the Government releasing ALL information having to do with the investigation? Why? So that America’s enemies can get insight into how we do things? I think not…
Alright Fred you are way off base on this one. Everyone knows that Bush orchestrated the 9/11 attacks. He hired Amelia Earhart to fly one of the planes, I think Elvis flew another one. Then they had the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles do the demolition on the buildings. This is all common knowledge, sheesh!
*shakes head*
Okay, sorry about that. I was dreaming that I was a conspiracy theorist. But it was such a real dream Auntie Em. You were there and you and you and even you!!
Good article Fred. The truthers are really out there, but you have to remember that even in WWII and right after it was over that there was a small group of truthers who believed our government also orchestrated Pearl Harbor. Nuts like this will always be with us.
OK Don, now that we know you don’t know a damn thing about 9-11, I’ll tell you what REALLY happened, but you gotta keep this to yourself man!
They’re watching us right now… 😕
It was the Plutonians in their 1957 Chevy 2-door space craft…
They hovered over NYC, in full stealth mode, did a hologram thing-a-ma-jig to LOOK like airplanes flying into buildings and they fired their Plutonian DEATH RAY at Flight 93 and the Pentagon…
Cheney is one of em too…
See, I told ya you didn’t REALLY know…. 😛
From some of the comments that the Truthers are trying to make, and the accusations I am bearing, I have to wonder, what part of THE TRUTH is it that TRUTHERS can’t handle?
They offer unfounded conspiracy theories, I offer articles that attest to the fact that 9-11 was real, and the works of some Islamic moonbats intent on attacking America.
One in particular claims that there were thousands of American troops already staged on the Afghan border ON 9-11, waiting for orders to move in…
I guess the TRUTHERS fall into the Algore GloBull warming category, the *How *STOOPID* can you get” category…
They want the TRUTH? The can’t HANDLE the TRUTH… 😛
I hear ya Fred. BTW, thanks for straightening me out. I was really upset that Elvis would do something that horrible. Thank God it was the Plutonians!
Once in a while I play an online game called World of Warcraft. It is pretty much based on the old Dungeons and Dragons board game, loosely based, that is. Anywho one night peeps were chattin’ about 9/11 and this idiot said that Bush made it happen because two days before he took out insurance policies on the twin towers… When I asked him how he heard about this, he said, “A guy made a movie about it.”
*blink*
To which I replied that a guy made a movie about aliens attacking earth, with huge ships over all the cities and we finally uploaded a virus (good thing the aliens used windows…) so we could destroy them, but that don’t mean it was frickin real.
He quit talking to me after that…
I actually took the time to do a bit of research and found that, as with most conspiracy theories there is just enough of a grain of truth as to make all the moonbats fall for it hook line and sinker.

My neighbor’s son, an overgrown hippie of age 40 and a complete ant-capitalist, is a 9/11 Truther. Even this man’s father, a liberal from Canada, decries the 9/11 Truthers.
Okay, my neighbor’s deadbeat son has been a fool for a long time.
But a few years back, one of my favorite blogger became a 9/11 Truther — out of the blue! That particular blogger should have had more sense. But he didn’t. I remain puzzled over this blogger’s devolution.
It seems to me that if they weren’t truthers they wouldn’t feel ambushed by the question. It is a simple question and only requires a yes or no answer.
I have always thought it was funny that the man the left claims was so stupid is the man that the truthers believe could have pulled this off. What is scary is how many people actually believe the government was involved in the attacks.
When I first heard this Truther nonsense, it was an email from my stepchildren’s mother and her boyfriend. They are still clinging to it even though I have sent numerous emails with data from “real engineers” with lots of credentials, debunking their horse poop!
I have felt from the beginning only a true nut would believe there could ever be anything of value that would make a government kill almost 3,000 of it’s own people in one stroke! When you add to that the fact they are saying the US government… well, we have never seen the day our government justified killing large numbers of citizens like Stalin did in Russia… it is just stupid.
Just shows that many American’s lack common sense and the ability to think critically. As for “Ambush Journalism”… I call what Glenn Beck did asking the question voter’s have a right to know! It’s called properly vetting a candidate! Great post Fred!!!!
Fred, you and Don and SO wrong! Don’t you guys know:
1. Bush was circling NYC in Air Force One, with his hands on the remote controls of American Airlines Flight 11, like you’d fly a Predator drone!
2. Cheney, in another compartment of Air Force One, had HIS hands on the remote controls of Flight 175. There are photographs of Cheney drooling, wild-eyed, and laughing hysterically when that plane struck. The photographer who took those photos was killed in a car crash two days later.
The pilot and co-pilot on Air Force One that day were replaced by audio animatronic versions, because the pilots were liquidated, after landing, by CIA and NSA operatives.
BZ
Ya know, maybe we need a little 9-11 *Who Dun-it ?* contest…
See who can come up with the most outrageous 9-11 theory… 😛
Truthers aren’t allowed to play, their BS is just TOO far out, and THEY believe it… 😕
I’ve never been able to understand the truthers. Claiming to want the truth, while promoting a hair-brained theory that has no proof whatsoever. It must be a lot of work for them to keep up the lies.
Elvis? Bush? I thought it was the Amish?
