Dem. Sen. Evan Bayh says he won’t seek 3rd term
INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Democratic Sen. Evan Bayh says he will not run for a third term in Congress.

Bayh said at a news conference in Indianapolis on Monday that he believed he would have been re-elected despite “the current challenging environment” in Congress.

He attributed his decision to the bitter partisan divides that have dominated Congress in recent years, though he praised his colleagues as hard workers devoted to public service.

Bayh says it is time for him to “contribute to society in another way,” either by creating jobs with a business, leading a college or university, or running a charity.

A Hat Tip to: THE ASTUTE BLOGGERS for the pic.

I really don’t have a dog in this particular fight. Being a resident of Texas all I can do is opine on the politics of Indiana. Let me share the words and opinion of someone from Indiana, a person I call a real friend, my blogging buddy, Hoosier Army Mom

What is truly sad is the fact that though being a Democrat, Bayh survived in this ‘red state’ because he was in the middle and patriotic about our country. I think his disgust is most likely motivated by Harry Reid throwing out the jobs bill and spitting on anything that includes both sides… so much for bipartisan!!! I certainly don’t defend Bayh, and I am glad to see him step down, but he is not, by long shot, the worst of the lot, but what he is would be one part of the majority that needs to go. I guarantee you… in this state, he will be replaced with a Republican. Now if that RINO Lugar would just retire!!! And of course in the House we need to be rid of Andre Carson and Baron Hill!!!! They both disgust me!!!

And I know that Hoosier Army Mom is working hard to make those retirements happen too!

We have problems all over this nation. We have RINOs, Republican In Name Only, running and trying to convince their constituency that they’re not RINOs, that they really are Conservative, America 1st Republicans. They are not.

We have Ron Paul 9-11 Truthers like Debra Medina trying to get elected on the GOP ticket.

That is quite hilarious if you think of this, Ron Paul and Debra Medina are NOT Republicans, not even RINOs, they are hard core Libertarians that have to run on the GOP ticket simply because they haven’t got a ghost of a chance on the national front running as Libertarians.

What I find astounding is this, the GOP welcomes them with open arms and Republican voters don’t think twice before jumping in and supporting folks like this with everything they have!

Here in my part of Texas we have some pretty good Conservatives serving us in Washington. I am very proud of my Congressman, Mr. Sam Johnson, I am also very proud of our neighboring Congressmen as well, Louie Gohmert and Ralph Hall in particular. These are folks that always vote on the RIGHT side of the issues. They are Texans and America 1st Conservatives!

You just don’t hear much about them in the media because of the multitude of idiots on the LEFT, and the RINOs that for some reason are adored by the MSM.

I have friends that feel we need to vote them ALL out, ALL incumbents. That is an impractical premise if ever there was one. We need to keep the Congressmen and Senators that are doing the bidding of the people, few though they be. We need to keep the folks that stand up and in no uncertain terms, let you know where they come from and their stand is for America 1st!

We need to vote out the libbers and RINOs and send these good people some reinforcements, by God, they have earned it! You can’t fight The Good Fight from a position of weakness. After a while, even the most righteous Conservative American gets tired and needs some good help.

As voters, it’s our DUTY to make sure they get that help!

Although I’m for term limits in Congress and until that happens, we’ve got to be careful not to throw the baby out with the bathwater. There are still some in Congress that are patriotic Americans who believe in the oath they took to uphold the constitution and actually believe they’re are in Congress to serve instead of be served. .

Makes you feel like the Confedrates must have felt after the First Battle of Manassas—if only they would have keep waving the flag that day and went onto Washington. See what happens when you fail to follow up a victory! As you say the tide has turned, but it only runs for a time. It does seem the “rats” are leaving the sinking ship, I would prefer they drown at the polls this fall, but taking that small lifeboat will do for now.

Bayh was far from the worst, but as the old saying goes when you “lay down with dogs, you get up with fleas”. So bye-bye Bayh!

The media keeps calling Bayh a ‘moderate’, a social and fiscal conservative. When did that happen??? Interesting how the media can define someone depending on the particular event.

He will run for president I feel sure.

To the Far Leftista Media, Bayh is Conservative. He is one of the “Blue Dogs”, but of course has picked up some fleas in the process, as Ron so aptly said. Bayh is a Democrat who isn’t a blatant socialist and serves a largely conservative state. When he was Governor, he did a pretty good job, but there were lots of Republicans in the General Assembly watch dogging too. I think the “dealing behind closed doors” was wrong and he knew it. I think Harry Reid dumping the bipartisan jobs bill like he did was the final straw. I know he saw a lot of Hoosiers and Americans being hurt by that action. When he runs for office again, he can say he chose not to be a part of that.

It is like the extremists in the White House have been flipping us the bird, and now some of their own troops are either giving up politics or using their brain to start sending a message to their own party… “The Party of Woe”!!!! They are divided, and any way you slice it, that is a victory in my book!

Oh, and Ron, I agree, had the South done what Gen. Jackson wanted they would have swept on into Washington DC and it would be the Capitol of the Confederate States of America!!! I really do wonder if many of the problems we have now, would even exist if that had happened… sigh!!!

IF the South had won, Obama wouldn’t have been POTUS…

If the South had won we wouldn’t be having to deal with a lot of this C**p!

Very True, one can easily get caught up in the “vote em all out” mindset, sometimes I feel that way also but then I remember that there are many good people serving in Washington and I remember that we don’t need to vote all of them out, just the proper ones. Of course voting out ALL of New Hampshire’s representation would be a good start.

BobF, I do believe there are a couple of folks in Congress doing what is right. BUT at this point, throwing the baby out with the bathwater is NOT a bad idea.

When a company/corporation becomes unprofitable due to its employees what do they do? They shut down, lay EVERYONE off for a couple of weeks while they reorganize. THEN they call back those employees that WERE Doing their jobs.

I suggest we treat our employees CONGRESS in the same fashion, throw em all out and then at the next election urge those FEW GOOD ones that were “Purged” to “Rehire”….

I’m with Robert 100%. My theory on Senator Bayh is, he’s going to side step the krakatoa that’s going to happen in 2010 and then come on the scene in 2011 and start his run for the whitehouse in 2012. It’s going to be fun to listen to these turds that wouldn’t say shit about the douche bag in charge’s policies that was ruining the country, but when THEY start running for POTUS it’ll be alltogether a whine of a different tune. Throw’em all out!!!

  11. comment number 11 by: Robert

Yeah, I would love to throw em all out, except it’s pretty much a pipe dream…They come up for election in different times, by the time you get one batch out there will be a whole new batch ready for the firing line….

I’ve seen companies realign and be successful, I’ve seen companies blame the employees and layoff to get around labor laws and hire some of them back only to fail because leadership or market changes…I’m not sure a “Throw em all out” campaign would help, but what we have now sure the hell aint working….

I’d like to see a “If you have been an elected official in the house or senate since Bush 1 took office” Yep you gotta go… Those are the career politicians and what we truly need are term limits. NOBODY should entrench themselves that deeply for that long in “Public service” because after the first 10 years, “They start USING the public rather than serving them”
