McCain, other US senators to tour Mexico border

PHOENIX (AP) - A group of U.S. senators who will be influential in shaping and negotiating details of an immigration reform package is traveling to the U.S.-Mexico border in Arizona to get a firsthand look at issues affecting the region.

Republican Sens. John McCain and Jeff Flake of Arizona were expected to tour the border Wednesday with Democratic Sens. Chuck Schumer of New York and Michael Bennet of Colorado. They are all members of the so-called Gang of Eight - a bipartisan group that has spent recent weeks trying to craft proposed immigration legislation.

The trip comes as Congress is in recess and as the lawmakers wrap up a bill designed to secure the border and put 11 million illegal immigrants on a path to citizenship. President Barack Obama has urged Congress to pass immigration reform this year, and border security is critical to McCain and other Republicans who contend that some areas along the border are far from secure.

“I wish every member of the United States Senate and Congress could see the border,” McCain told reporters in Phoenix on Monday. “Only when you can see the expanse, the difficulties and the challenges of the border, can you really appreciate the need for our border security.” SOURCE

But wait! Didn’t Department of Homeland Security Secretary Janet A. Napolitano say that the border is as secure as ever? I could swear that was what the story said and what I heard her say on the news, several times actually.

I have also seen what these *border tours* consist of; a rather large security detail takes whatever official to the border to *have a look*, they do it in the middle of the day, noon if at all possible, that way the Feds can spring for lunch for the whole crowd and the bad guys, illegals and so forth won’t be out there crossing at high noon.

Fast forward about 12 hours and let ME take those clowns on a *border tour*, I can tell you right now, I haven’t worked on the border in something like 20 years but I say this in all confidence; I guarantee you I can take them to places, not out in the wilderness, NO, I can take them to places right in El Paso, Brownsville, Nogales or any other border town that will leave them shaking in their shoes, needing of a clean change of panties!

Daylight *border tours* are nothing more than *feel good* press opportunities for all concerned parties.

Now think about this; Napolitano says the border is as secure as ever. She is, of course, full of CRAP, but that is HER contention. The Sequester immediately brought out cries from the White House and Obama regime of an immediate need to cut the pay received and hours worked by Customs and Border Patrol. All of that based on the premise that the American people are going to buy the words of Janet Napolitano and her LIE about border security.

Not ALL Americans are buying it.

Cornyn Response to DHS Plan to Remove CBP Agents from Border

John_CornynHOUSTON – U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R-TX), Ranking Member on the Senate Judiciary’s Immigration, Refugees, and Border Security Subcommittee, today issued the following statement responding to reports that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) plans to cut hours and overtime pay for Customs and Border Patrol (CBP) agents, potentially leaving portions of our borders unmanned for hours at a time:

“The Obama Administration’s actions amount to nothing short of a calculated, willful neglect of what should be a President’s top priority: protecting the homeland and keeping Americans safe.

“The fact that the Administration would needlessly jeopardize the safety of American citizens as part of a continued misinformation campaign surrounding the effects of sequestration is outrageous and reprehensible.”

Sen. Cornyn wrote to DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano to express outrage with the recent actions of the Department in response to sequestration, including releasing thousands of detainees from detention centers across the country and issuing furlough notices to CBP personnel. Sen. Cornyn also wrote to Subcommittee Chairman U.S. Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY) to demand hearings following the detainee releases. He has yet to receive a response to either letter. SOURCE

We DO have *border issues* folks, those of us that live in border states can attest to that fact; folks that live in direct proximity of the border can tell you horror stories. The main difference between the stories told by people living along the border and those told by the Obama regime and Janet Napolitano is this; Americans living on the border will tell you the real story, they will tell you the TRUTH!

I hope Sen. Cornyn sticks to his guns, we’re seeing a lot more Conservatism from him now that Kay Bailey Hutchison is gone.

John McCain is a blowhard and should of been ejected from office back in 1980 for his part in the Keating Insurance scandal. He, McCain was caught red handed in it, but a “sympathy” congregation decided to let him off the hook!
    Just stupid.
I have never trusted him. Yes, he is a vet and a “returned” POW.
The North Vietnamese and the Russians did something to him with torture and broke his spirit. Sad, but this is why POW’s seem to always have something lingering in them from the tortures.
Manchurian Candidate anybody? I believe so.
The president’s actions regarding the border is so damning that I believe his actions are TREASON.
O’bango wants all aliens into this USA as fast as he can,, so he can get their votes for the democrat party.
The illegal aliens already know that O’bastard is actually an illegal himself!
That is the bond between “them”.
We know that our president and his socialist commie staff hate Gov Rick Perry.
That has been seen very clearly the last time this current US president flew into Texas and snubbed Perry on the tarmac when they met at the bottom of the ladder.
That said it all for me. An absolute insult from the president of the USA.
Yes, I want the USA/MEXICO border SEALED!!!! And I mean really sealed!
Any alien seen attempting to cross demands accurate gunfire to kill this alien,,,man, woman, child,,,,doesn’t mean anything to me.
STOP these aliens from entering the USA, unless they cross at a Border Inspection Station, showing their LEGAL papers to cross and enter the USA.
If some stupid American citizen tries to swim across the Rio Grande River,,from Mexico to the USA,,,,,bang, bang, bang.
If the USA citizen is illiterate, and can’t read the sign, so what. That’s the breaks.
After a year of this border closure, the word will be out everywhere in the world…
I demand that this porous border be sealed now.
Under penalty of death, a person can ONLY cross at an Official Border Control Station.

Just another photo op for the RINOs so they can reelected. Could you imagine what would happen if real Conservatives were in the Senate and the Blue Dog Democrats were replaced with Conservatives? Can anyone say IMPEACHMENT?

And then the chick climbs the 18-foot fence IN FRONT OF THEM.

    Oh yeah.

    That border.

It is WAY secure, you ignorant bastards.

It couldn’t work out any better than having someone jump the fence.

  6. Patrick Sperry says:

Okay, I caught hell for suggesting this years ago at LNF, Fred will remember. But I still support sending Sniper and DM trainee’s along with fully trained members as mentors for live fire training all along the damned border.

McCain is a piss ant and needs to just go away. Like a good old soldier…
