Pastor: Bergdahl’s parents ‘really hurt’ by outcry

I’ve often heard it said; the truth hurts. Bob and Jani Bergdahl have their feelings hurt because Conservatives, a great many from the GOP and strangely enough, even a few Democrats are blasting their son for what most of us see as him being a deserter, a coward and a traitor. If they are paying, even a little bit of attention, then this story will make it all crystal clear for them.

Pastor: Bergdahl’s parents ‘really hurt’ by outcry

Bergdahl ParentsThe former pastor of the parents of a soldier released from Taliban captivity after almost five years says they have been hurt by claims that he was a traitor and by the outpouring of anger toward their family.

Pastor Phil Proctor of Sterling Presbyterian Church in Sterling, Virginia, said Friday that Bob and Jani Bergdahl were surprised by interviews they have seen with former platoon mates of their son Bowe Bergdahl. Some of the soldiers told media outlets they don’t support the exchange of five Taliban officials that led to his freedom.

Proctor said the Bergdahl’s, who live in Idaho, have yet to speak with their son, who is currently recovering at a military hospital in Germany. SOURCE

This commentary is directed at the parents of Bowe Bergdahl.

Maybe it you hadn’t opened your remarks at the White House with these words: “bism allah alrahman alraheem”, on the grounds of the White House in an attempt to sanctify the White House and claimed it for Islam, you wouldn’t see this headline and have many American patriots believing you are a Muslim douchebag. If, by some quirk of nature Robert Bergdahl is actually reading stories about his son, I hope he sees this one, and Mr. Bergdahl, if you are, this is what I believe.

1. Bergdahl is a deserter and was never a Prisoner of War
2. Bergdahl is responsible for his actions and interactions with the Taliban
3. I believe that because of those interactions and his desertion in a time of war that he is nothing less than a traitor to the U.S. Army and this nation
4. I believe that through HIS actions, his act of desertion, that he, Bergdahl, is complicit in the deaths of Staff Sgt. Clayton Bowen; Pfc. Morris Walker; Staff Sgt. Kurt Curtiss; 2nd Lt. Darryn Andrews; Pfc. Matthew Michael Martinek; and Staff Sgt. Michael Murphrey
5. I believe that Bowe Bergdahl should be brought up on charges and Court Martialed.
6. If found guilty and convicted of charges of desertion and conspiring with the enemy I am of the opinion that Bergdahl should face the most severe penalty prescribed.

I have always heard that we are ALL products of our raising. In some cases that is painfully obvious. Personally I believe that Bowe Bergdahl is that product.

I’m sure his parents are very proud.

Dont raise a traitorous bastard son in the first place!

Tough shit to them and their Imam… I mean pastor

  2. Alan Caruba says:

Bravo! The best compilation of articles about Bergdahl I have seen.

  3. cary says:

    Dear Bob and Jani:
    Wah.
You think YOU are upset? What about the families of those who were killed trying to rescue your good-for-nothing, deserting, traitorous, back-stabbing, taliban loving, jihad proclaiming, hellspawn you call a son? What about those of us who still love this country and cannot believe your new BFF, obummer, traded five aces for a joker? No, he’s not even a joker. A joker can be used in some card games. BFF traded five aces for NOTHING. Pissed away a position of power, a position of actually having the leverage needed to get the talis off the world stage, but NOOOOOooooo - now we have to waste MORE resources and MORE money treating your (not very sick looking) “son” in a hospital that has seen the injured and killed heroes pass through on their way home - the injured of failed recovery attempts for your wastrel offspring made neccesary when he deserted his fellow soldiers.
Apparently, the words Honor, Commitment, Love of Country, and Duty mean NOTHING to you or yours.
With all due respect, Bob and Jani, piss off.

In Germany; recovering from what? Is there a cure for traitor besides a firing squad? Also, I wonder if the wife goes home and puts her burka on!

  5. Bloviating Zeppelin says:

Bowe and Bob are who they are; we won’t change that.

MY objection is that Bowe Bergdahl entered the military at all. With his mindset, background and disposition he would have been better served entering the Peace Corps or serving directly in-country as a civilian. Becoming a soldier subsequently placed a number of persons at risk and may have in fact resulted in the deaths of soldiers tasked with locating him following his leaving post.

It is not illegal to be a pacifist, community organizer or social worker. It is, however, objectionable when you think yourself sufficiently important that you can change the nature and goals of military service in and of themselves.

This man lived and operated under Purple Skies and was not a realist in any way.

I repeat: he never should have been in the military at all.

During an interview Megan Kelly had with 6 of his (former) platoon members, they said the mission was to win the hearts and minds, etc, that Bergdahl expressed frustration with that approach and wanted to ‘do more aggressive stuff and he was frustrated we were not allowed to do it’. So the Emails to his father did not reflect what he was saying to his team.

  6. dekare says:

Imagine if a WWII pow returned and had stated he believed in nazism. Imagine if he and/or his parents starting speaking in german and raised their arm in a nazi salute and shouted “heil hitler”. What would Americans think. Back then, there is no doubt what the American reaction would have been, and what would have happened after that incident.

Well, that is the same slap in the face the bergdahls have given Americans today. All with the complicit help of the cnc.

    SAD SAD SAD

This is just one of thousands of reasons I truly believe liberals have a genetic brain disorder. They seem to be incapable of handling reality. If this were my son, as a parent I probably would not disown him, but, I would not try to stick up for him either. I would be disgusted by him. The anger people are expressing would not surprise me at all.

  8. Mike Flyynn says:

He is n Germany for so long because the administration is using this time to help him get his story together. They are actively helping a Muslim…call me a pessimist or whatever, he will have his story together when he is finally seen by the ‘people.’ And this poor Sgt (sgt my rear end, he’s a Pfc, auto promoted while missing according to policy) will never be prosecuted for anything meaningful….ggrrrrrr

    • Ralloh says:

I was saying basically this same thing to my lady last night. By the time he is in the spotlight, his story will be so scripted and twisted that we Conservatives will again be branded as Right Wing Haters. They’ll probably have a parade for this jerk and give him a medal.

  9. HGPSURF says:

Too fucking bad if the Bergdahls are upset…tough fucking luck for them!

  10. Bunkerville says:

Excellent post and comments. I cannot think of a thing to add.

  11. Dick Robie says:

    1) They shouldnt have made the big deal out of it they did nor should the POTUS-bloody stupid

    2) I am not an advocate of trial by media, however this guy is a deserter and should be given due process

    3) Obama is a goddam idiot and I for one do not understand why his actions are tolerated

  12. Wayne says:

Terrific post Fred. I truly believe that bo is a member of the muslim brotherhood. He knew exactly what he was doing and has taken advantage of his race, his belief in islam (remember when he said the would side with the muslims) and the fact that congress wouldn’t lift a voice in opposition to his unlawful acts. We are witnessing the takeover of our country by progressives (Marxists) through chaos and a deliberate attack on our economy. bowe is nothing more than another distraction. Keep your powder dry.

  13. Germane says:

cary said everything in my view but I just wanted to stress that the bargaining chips are on bo’s table any way he wants to use them because, and unfortunately for the world, there are enough lame brains in America who not only voted him unknowingly as President the first time in 2008, but they are so lame that they gave the poor bastard another go at in 2012, on trying to destroy the American way of life we all once knew and loved!! Un-Fu_ _ing-believable! The fact that we are a Democratic Republic, with all these freedoms that have been cast upon our Government (un-)Officials are legal, it’s just beyond belief!!! Why hasn’t bo been in front of a Government tribunal by now? You have to cut the head off the serpent before you can kill the tail!

Now this little gem from FOX:
White House reportedly let Bergdahl parents take part in secure video conferences

The White House allowed the parents of Army Sgt. Bowe Bergdahl to take part in a series of secure video conferences with State Department and intelligence officials and senior military commanders, according to a published report.
The Washington Times reports that Bob and Jani Bergdahl were allowed to join the conferences remotely from the Idaho National Guard headquarters in Boise soon after their son was captured by the Taliban in June 2009.
A spokesman for the Idaho National Guard told the paper that the Bergdahls participated in up to 20 video conferences per year.
“Mr. and Mrs. Bergdahl were regularly informed about what was happening throughout the duration using video teleconferencing [with] various military and other government agencies,” said Air Force Col. Anthony Marsano. “There was a great effort to keep Mr. and Mrs. Bergdahl updated on developments.”
Larry Johnson, a former State Department official who worked on the cases of American citizens taken hostage in Lebanon during the 1980s, told the Times that granting such access to the family of a missing person was “wrong.”
“The Bergdahls shouldn’t have been part of that for no other reason than on the off chance they may inadvertently divulge some tactic,” Johnson told the paper. “I mean, it’s one thing for government officials to interview the family, get insights from the family about what’s going on.”But to put them in the middle of what is essentially a classified secure video conference is ridiculous.”

Ridiculous doesn’t even begin to cover it.
And this has been raised: Did the WH also pay the taliban money? I’d like to see THAT asked at a press conference.

  15. cary says:

Let me see if I have this straight - a pResident, who couldn’t give a flip about the military in the first place, and has no respect for those who have served, deems OpSec to not be worth worrying about in the case of dealing with the enemy?

Just want to be sure what I am observing is, in fact, what’s going on.

  16. dekare says:

I have noticed that the issue with the VA is not longer the main topic of concern.

  17. Alan Latz says:

Right on my friend. I noticed all comments about the Bergdahl’s apply to the lying muslin idiot in the White House.
