Blogs, ‘CIA brother’ spin zest into Carnaby mystery

May 11th, 2008 . by TexasFred

When it comes to Roland Carnaby, the truth is out there — way out there. So far out that you reach the blogosphere before finding anything that publicly connects him to his beloved Central Intelligence Agency, which he claimed to still patriotically serve when Houston police shot him down at the end of a crosstown chase on April 29.

But even that obscure, blog-world confirmation is not what it seems to be, which is pretty much what you get with Carnaby, the curious 52-year-old son of Lebanese parents who spent much of his time in bars and restaurants dropping broad hints that he was somebody, or something, else.

The “proof” of his tie to the CIA — denied repeatedly by the agency itself — comes indirectly through a Houston man, Alan Premel, who supposedly served with him and who has been linked to him on numerous Internet sites. If one believes the various posts about him, Premel is a former CIA wunderkind who won the agency’s highest award for valor before a nasty separation and lawsuit that netted him a multimillion dollar settlement.

Those posts are made on obscure blogs that ceased shortly after posting articles about Premel or in the reader comment sections of better-known, ongoing blogs. A few appear in comment sections of legitimate stories posted on mainstream news media sites.

Taken together they give a whiff of credibility to the assertions of Carnaby’s friends that he was the agent he claimed to be, especially considering they were made long before Carnaby was killed.

One of them, at the short-lived papparazzipress.com, refers to Carnaby as one of “CIA’s most experienced, talented and high-profile clandestine officers.” Another mentions Premel as a “battle hardened and battle tested CIA war hero” who was “the youngest supervisor to ever head a task force.”

OK, I am sitting here seriously LMAO…

Not kidding, this is funny way beyond the normal limits of funny…

“CIA’s most experienced, talented and high-profile clandestine officers.”

What’s wrong with that quote folks?? Anyone?? Bueller??

Think about this for a minute, “high-profile” and “clandestine“, these are words that do NOT go together in any way, shape, form or fashion, and anyone that has ever been privy to any kind of high security work is more than aware of this fact…

Carnaby and his buddy were playing ‘Get Smart’ and the Maxwell Smart character came home to bite em in the ass when they tangled with the REAL police…

Did Houston Police kill a federal agent after a high-speed chase?

April 30th, 2008 . by TexasFred

Mystery continues to envelop a man shot and killed by Houston police Tuesday morning after a high-speed chase that ended near the Galleria.

The victim was identified by friends as Roland Vincent Carnaby, 52, of Houston. But who he really was — or more precisely, what he was — is something police are still trying to piece together.

Carnaby held himself out as a federal intelligence agent but was sometimes cagey about his precise job and employer. At times he mentioned the Central Intelligence Agency or the Department of Homeland Security. He was the president of the local chapter of the Association for Intelligence Officers, a legitimate national organization whose board contains luminaries such as former President George H.W. Bush. Friends said they have seen him in the company socially of local law enforcement officials and high-level CIA bureaucrats.

The CIA told KHOU that Carnaby was not an employee of the intelligence agency.

The CIA told KHOU that Carnaby was not an employee of the intelligence agency.

You can pick up the phone and call the CIA, just ask them if General Michael V. Hayden is now employed in the position of Director of the CIA and they will tell you they have NO knowledge of that person, standard operating procedure…

Maybe the guy was an CIA operative, maybe not, who knows, the fact remains, he ran from the Houston police, there was a high speed chase and the guy was dead when it’s over…

Now I may be wrong but I would think that if I had CIA credentials I wouldn’t be too concerned with the Houston PD finding some guns and/or knives in my vehicle, if the guy really was CIA, why did he run??

He would have known better, and even if he didn’t want to give up his true identity and use his position to take care of the speeding thing, he could have, or, should have just taken a ticket for speeding and swept it all under the rug as only a person of his supposed position could do…

“I can’t fathom any reason why he would be running from the police because he is the police,” Platt said. “This doesn’t make any sense. I can’t understand him running or why they opened up on him. This doesn’t smell right.”

I agree, something doesn’t smell right, but this guy wasn’t ‘the police’ as the article says, the CIA is NOT a police agency, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) is a civilian intelligence agency of the United States government. Its primary function is collecting and analyzing information about foreign governments, corporations, and persons in order to advise public policymakers, the CIA is many things but it is NOT a law enforcement entity…

This is going to be an interesting story as we watch it play out, that is, if it doesn’t just disappear from the face of the earth, but that’s not likely really, is it??

Links never just go *poof*, do they??

Judge Urged Not to Ask About CIA Tapes

December 15th, 2007 . by TexasFred

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Bush administration told a federal judge it was not obligated to preserve videotapes of CIA interrogations of suspected terrorists and urged the court not to look into the tapes’ destruction.

In court documents filed Friday night, government lawyers told U.S. District Judge Henry H. Kennedy that demanding information about the tapes would interfere with current investigations by Congress and the Justice Department.

It was the first time the government had addressed the issue of the videotapes in court.

Kennedy ordered the administration in June 2005 to safeguard “all evidence and information regarding the torture, mistreatment, and abuse of detainees now at the United States Naval Base at Guantanamo Bay.”

Five months later, the CIA destroyed the interrogation videos. The recordings involved suspected terrorists Abu Zubaydah and Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri

Government lawyers told Kennedy the tapes were not covered by his court order because Zubaydah and al-Nashiri were not at the Guantanamo military prison in Cuba. The men were being held overseas in a network of secret CIA prisons. By the time President Bush acknowledged the existence of those prisons and the prisoners were transferred to Guantanamo, the tapes had been destroyed.

Judge Urged Not to Ask About CIA Tapes

Personally, I have NO issue with what the CIA does with these people, if they can gather information that saves so much as 1 American life, what happens to our enemies is of NO consequence to me…

Even if Kennedy accepts the argument that government did not violate his order, he still could demand a hearing. He could raise questions about obstruction or spoliation, a legal term for the destruction of evidence in “pending or reasonably foreseeable litigation.”

You’d better be careful Judge, I don’t know how it works today, but in the past YOU could be the one to come up missing…

I know there has to be some oversight of the CIA, they can’t just run a loose operation and do as they please, there has to be some responsibility, but they can’t go about the job of protecting America with Congress and others constantly poking their noses into every move they make…

The solution?? I honestly have no idea other than for the CIA to go totally covert and stop the leaks regarding the happenings in secure locations and the leaks concerning operations…

I do know that during the Clinton administration the CIA and the U.S. military were cut to bare bones, and they have never fully recovered, and now the Dem controlled Senate and Congress is setting up a cut and bleed party once again, the only thing they lack to bring this into fruition is for the White House itself to back them and once again our military and Intel sources will take a massive hit…

I believe this stresses the reasons that we can’t let the Dems have the White House in ‘08, and why especially we can’t allow Hillary Clinton to ever walk thru the doors of the White House as anything other than a visitor, and even then she needs to watched closely, she steals stuff…

Justice Dept. Asked to Probe Tape Destruction

December 7th, 2007 . by TexasFred

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Senate’s No. 2 Democrat on Friday asked the Justice Department to investigate whether the CIA obstructed justice by destroying videotapes that documented the harsh 2002 interrogations of two alleged terrorists.

A day after CIA Director Gen. Michael Hayden told agency employees the tapes were destroyed in 2005, members of Congress, human rights groups and lawyers for accused terrorists said the tapes may have been key evidence that the U.S. government had illegally authorized torture.

White House press secretary Dana Perino said Friday that President Bush did not have any recollection about the tapes or about their destruction.

“I spoke to the president this morning about this. He has no recollection of being made aware of the tapes or their destruction before yesterday” when he was briefed by Hayden, she said.

Justice Asked to Probe Tape Destruction

What did I say?? What did I tell you guys in THIS commentary??

“I spoke to the president this morning about this. He has no recollection of being made aware of the tapes or their destruction before yesterday” when he was briefed by Hayden, she said.

It’s already started, and from a much higher level than I expected, look, I have NO qualms with the alphabet agencies using whatever tactics they feel are needed to extract information from enemy agents, or other foreign nationals deemed a threat to this nation, but by God, have the balls to stand up and say, ‘Yeah, we did it, we’re protecting America, you got a problem with that?‘…

And look at WHO is doing the crying, the Senate’s No. 2 Democrat, what did I say?? The Dems WILL be all over this, last night I posted the story on the destruction of the tapes and I knew right then, Dem bait, and it didn’t take long for it to happen…

In a letter to Attorney General Michael Mukasey, Senate Democratic Whip Dick Durbin of Illinois asked for a probe of “whether CIA officials who destroyed these videotapes and withheld information about their existence from official proceedings violated the law.”

Dem leadership at it’s very best, doing what Dems in office do best, screwing up the protection of America and working hard to emasculate our Intelligence services, but wait, the Queen of Emasculation has spoken too…

Democratic presidential hopeful Sen. Hillary Clinton, D- N.Y., also called for a full investigation.

“We’ve got to really clean house here and get to the bottom of what’s been going on,” she said Friday.

Look BITCH, the last time you cleaned house you made your gutless husband dismantle the U.S. military and our intelligence capabilities to the point that 9-11 was an inevitability, you and your ‘horn dog’ cut the balls right out from under this nation and you’ll do it again if the American people are stupid enough to EVER elect you to the office of President…

George Bush has his faults, he is a buffoon, he hasn’t put the Intel capabilities of this nation back together like it needs to be done, not fully, but at least he hasn’t cut the military and destroyed our intelligence gathering capabilities…

Hillary and Billy Bob did, and SHE will do it again, and it’s quite likely that ANY Dem that makes it to the White House will as well, these people hate America and will work even harder than our Globalist in Chief at giving Her away…

Americans on the Conservative and Republican side of this battle had better wake up, the very existence of our nation is in danger and we MUST have leadership that won’t work against America…

Bush Administration Credibility Suffers

December 7th, 2007 . by TexasFred

WASHINGTON — The new National Intelligence Estimate — which says Iran had a nuclear weapons development program, but halted it in 2003 — made President Bush’s week play out like a sad country song.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was smiling and called the report a victory. Rush Limbaugh blasted the report as a product of administration sabotage. And Democrats were accusing the president of being a flip-flopper.

The NIE drew fire from nearly all sides, including anti-war Democrats in Congress, foreign leaders the administration needs to hold the line against Iran, and conservatives usually supportive of the administration.

The root issue for many critics comes down to credibility: Credibility of the estimate, credibility of the intelligence community that developed it and the credibility of the administration for whom those agencies work. Bridging that credibility gap might prove difficult for an administration heading into its final months.

Full Story Here:
Bush Admin. Credibility Suffers After Iran NIE Report

1. Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was smiling and called the report a victory, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is a lying little piece of garbage and his regime can’t be trusted any further than they can be picked up and thrown and anyone, read Dems, that would think they can be trusted is an idiot…

2. Rush Limbaugh blasted the report as a product of administration sabotage?? So?? All Limbaugh is, is a political commentator, the same as me and you and most other bloggers, he just has a bigger audience, that’s all, and, he IS the biggest Bush Bot of ALL the Bush Bots, maybe King of the Bush Bots would be a good title for Rush, and maybe he’s not really a Bush Bot at all, maybe he’s just one heck of a good salesman and he sold the Bots a bill of goods, it could happen…

3. The root issue for many critics comes down to credibility… Well, as far as I’m concerned, when the Bush administration pulled a substantial number of troops out of the hunt for Bin Laden and allowed Afghanistan to revert to many of it’s old ways and then declared Iraq to be the new mission, when Bush welcomed the Saudi prince to his home here in Texas and took the Saudi prince by the hand, kissed his cheek and welcomed him as a long lost brother, when Bush tried to force the AMNESTY bill down our throats, when he took the side of the ILLEGAL invaders over that of law abiding, tax paying American citizens, well, along about that time George W. Bush ceased to have ANY credibility in my opinion…

I don’t know the truth of what’s going on in Iran, maybe the Bush administration doesn’t either, all I know is this, I would have thought that by now, after 7 years in office, Bush would have had our intelligence agencies rebuilt to a somewhat credible level, I cut him some slack when 9-11 happened, he hadn’t been in office very long and hadn’t had the time to repair the damage that the Clinton’s had done to our military and intelligence services, but the time for excuses is long past, did our Intel people let the Iranians put one past us?? Did it make Bush look like a numb skull?? Well, it wouldn’t be the 1st time Bush looked like an idiot, and what the heck, he has another year in office, I’m sure there will be at least a few more screw ups before his term is over…

Somehow, I just don’t think history will be very kind to Mr. Bush, and I seriously doubt that we’ll ever hear the words Bush and credibility used synonymously…

Hayden Says CIA Videotapes Destroyed

December 6th, 2007 . by TexasFred

WASHINGTON (AP) - The CIA videotaped its interrogations of two top terror suspects in 2002 and destroyed the tapes three years later out of fear they would leak to the public and compromise the identities of U.S. questioners, the director of the agency told employees Thursday.

The disclosure brought immediate condemnation from Capitol Hill and from a human rights group which charged the spy agency’s action amounted to criminal destruction of evidence.

The Senate Intelligence Committee promised a full review of the situation.

CIA Director Michael Hayden said the CIA began taping the interrogations as an internal check on the program after President Bush authorized the use of harsh questioning methods. The methods included waterboarding, which simulates drowning, government officials said.

“The Agency was determined that it proceed in accord with established legal and policy guidelines. So, on its own, CIA began to videotape interrogations,” Hayden said in a written message to CIA employees, obtained by The Associated Press.

Hayden Says CIA Videotapes Destroyed

The tapes have been destroyed…

I’m sorry your Honor, but I have NO recollection of that incident…

No your Honor, I’m sorry, my memory of that event is very fuzzy, I’m not sure I even know what you’re talking about…

Your Honor, at this time, I am going to invoke my rights under the 5th amendment of the Constitution…

No Congressman, I can’t divulge that information in open session, it’s considered classified and could be dangerous to agents in the field…

The defendants will rise and face the jury…

WHAT THE HELL DO YOU MEAN ‘they got presidential pardons’??

And the beat goes on, anyone want to take bets on it??
