Chicago cardinal asks Rev. Pfleger to step down

June 3rd, 2008 . by TexasFred

CHICAGO (AP) - Cardinal Francis George asked a Chicago priest on Tuesday to temporarily step down from his post to “reflect on his recent statements regarding Sen. Hillary Clinton and her bid for the White House.

Last week, the Rev. Michael Pfleger mocked Clinton at Sen. Barack Obama’s former church, saying the New York senator felt ‘entitled’ to the Democratic nomination for president.

George asked Pfleger to take leave from pastoral duties at St. Sabina Church in order to reflect on his recent statements and actions in the light of the church’s regulations for all Catholic priests, according to a statement Tuesday from the Archdiocese of Chicago.

The leave was effective Tuesday and was scheduled to last ‘a couple of weeks.’

Pfleger, who has apologized for the comments and promised George he would no longer mention any presidential candidates by name, did not believe this to be the right step at this time, according to the statement.

Chicago cardinal asks Rev. Pfleger to step down

There are many things I am wanting to say right now but I will keep this short and to the point.

How big an ASS, and an embarrassment, have you made of yourself when the Roman Catholic Church asks you to step down?

For crying out loud, they don’t ask their pedophiles to STEP DOWN, they just transfer the bastards to another Parish and pay off the victims.

So now all of a sudden the Roman Catholic Church is going all ‘righteous’ over a moonbat priest running his mouth over politics?? Their hypocrisy knows NO bounds.

I heard his excuse today-he didn’t know the “live stream” was working because it had been down earlier in the day.  He assumed that his comments were going to be kept within the church congregation. What kind of an idiot is that?

Rush made a comment on this yesterday and I tend to agree with what he suggested.   He said this thing with Pfleger was all a setup.   They  knew it was being recorded and going to be broadcast on the internet.  Pfleger rantings from the pulpit gave Obama the “excuse” he needed to resign from his church without offending Blacks.  Obama resigned over the racist rankings of a White Catholic Priest, not a Black Preacher.   He was able to save face with his church members while transfering the blame to a White man’s racism, although a reverse racism.

BobF, look at the original post and see the ‘Tagged With’ line…

    Democratic Strategy… :D

And I don’t have the audience Rush has, I should, but I don’t…

As soon as I read that story my thoughts immediately went to the pedophiles too.  I remember hearing stories of cases where they put pedophiles in direct contact with children by transferring them to schools and such.  But they are going to be quick to ask this moron to take a leave of absence?

A political move, in my opinion.  Even Geraldine Ferraro blasted the Catholic Church for Pfleger’s rants.I grew up in the Catholic Church and could not imagine our parish priests acting like this clown.  (my apologies to clowns everywhere).
