NJ men accused in Somali terror plot due in court

ELMWOOD PARK, N.J. (AP) - The young men’s intentions were sinister, investigators say: to head to Somalia to seek terror training from al-Qaida-affiliated jihadists and unleash attacks against fellow Americans.

But their preparations apparently were unsophisticated. They lifted weights, bought military-style pants, tried paintball, played violent video games and watched terrorist videos online, authorities said.

They had no known connections to terrorist groups, and their planned trip to Somalia apparently amounted to a leap of faith that they’d be embraced by the jihadists.

When the two New Jersey men tried to fly Saturday from New York’s Kennedy Airport to Egypt and then continue on to Somalia, investigators who had been following them for years were waiting at their gates, according to federal officials in New Jersey and the New York Police Department.

Make an example of ‘em and then continue doing this with every one of them that comes out of the wood work! I don’t care if they are U.S. citizens, if they attempt to join, or are actually successful in joining a known terror organization, HANG ‘EM. They are traitors to this nation.

Apparently there are some leftist, terrorist loving trolls that disagree.

Some seem to think it’s OK to be a terrorist I suppose, and maybe I am “agitating for the death of fellow Americans“, perhaps that’s how the left looks at it, terrorists as “a fellow American”.

All I see is a lump of garbage that needs to be tossed out. Right along with the leftist bloggers that believe these people are our “fellow Americans“.

Mohamed Mahmood Alessa, 20, and Carlos Eduardo Almonte, 24, are accused of trying to join al-Shabab, which was designated by the U.S. as a terrorist group in 2008. They face charges of conspiring to kill, maim and kidnap persons outside the United States by joining al-Shabab.

Alessa and Almonte were scheduled to appear Monday in federal court in Newark.

If convicted, they could face life in prison.

Life in prison? Sure, send them to prison so they can be further trained by radicals already in place. Send them to Federal prison and let them enjoy 3 square meals, medical care, a place to sleep, all the amenities that they so don’t deserve. Oh, and let us pay for it, for years to come.

I have a very cost effective solution I wish to offer, as opposed to life in prison.

2 potential terrorists, 2 short pieces of rope, a tall tree, a long fall. Some assembly required. The problem is removed in an expedient manner.

Authorities say they recorded Alessa and Almonte talking about attacking Americans. Alessa allegedly said he would outdo Maj. Nidal Hasan, the Army psychiatrist accused of killing 13 people at Fort Hood, Texas, last year.

“He’s not better than me. I’ll do twice what he did,” Alessa was recorded saying, according to court documents.

Hollow words from these guys? Maybe. False bravado? Perhaps, but who knows? Are you willing to take a chance that maybe, hopefully, they are just *trash talking* and are basically harmless idiots? I’m not!

In March, Alessa was recorded telling Almonte and an undercover officer with the New York Police Department that no one else they knew in New Jersey should be included in their plan to join al-Shabab because only the three of them were “serious about their plan and were preparing for it.” Court documents do not indicate that authorities had other targets in the investigation.

Law enforcement became aware of the men in the fall of 2006, after receiving a tip. Since then, during the lengthy investigation, the undercover officer recorded conversations with the men in which they spoke about jihad against Americans, court papers show.

“I leave this time. God willing, I never come back,” authorities say Alessa told the officer last year. “Only way I would come back here is if I was in the land of jihad and the leader ordered me to come back here and do something here. Ah, I love that.”

Traitors. Terrorist wannabes that plan to kill THEIR fellow Americans. But do we hear the lamentations of the brainless morons on the left that support these animals? Do we hear them condemned by the disgusting leftist garbage of this nation? No, we do not. But those same leftist supporters will condemn you and me if we call for these traitors to be severely dealt with.

Personally, I don’t believe that life in prison is a severe punishment. Removing these traitors, by means of extreme prejudice, is the only thing those that seek to emulate their efforts would even remotely understand.

If my calling for them to be put to death, if my calling for ANY American citizen that supports an Islamic terror plot that would kill innocent men, women and children is wrong, then I guess you can look at me, point a finger and call me a BAD American., but, the vast majority of Americans will call me an America 1st Patriot!

When Timothy McVeigh was put to death, I did not mourn him.

When any prisoner that is rightfully convicted of capital crimes is put to death, I do NOT mourn their passing. They too are our “fellow Americans”, are they not?

Americans that are sending, taking or protecting supplies (read: weapons) going to Palestine are supporting capital crimes, as are Americans seeking terrorist training in hopes of coming back to America so that they can return to this this nation to bring death and mayhem on the American people.

I do NOT, and would not mourn their passing either.

Some may consider them to be their “fellow Americans”, but I consider them to be traitors to this nation, and if it were within MY power, they would all be hung by the neck until dead! Along with their supporters as well!

I firmly believe that even if they haven’t yet killed innocent men, women and children, just for their planning to do so, we, as a nation, would be better off to give ‘em a fair trial, and then hang ‘em. We can strip them of U.S. citizenship after they’re dead.
