Ohio Residents, Police on Edge After Woman’s Death During Drug Raid
January 21st, 2008 . by TexasFredLIMA, Ohio — The death of Tarika Wilson during a drug raid has left tensions here simmering between minorities and police.
Wilson, 26, was fatally shot and her 1-year-old son was injured when SWAT officers burst into her home looking for her boyfriend. The officer is white, the victim is black.
Black clergy leaders are nervously waiting for investigators to decide whether to charge a veteran officer who fired the fatal shots.
“This was ready to blow,” said Daniel Hughes, one of several pastors who has been preaching patience while residents demand more answers about the shooting. “It still could go either way.”
More than two weeks have passed since the Jan. 4 death of Wilson, a 26-year-old mother of six. Her baby son, Sincere Wilson, was injured and had a finger amputated.
Little is known about what happened. Family members say Wilson was an innocent bystander. Police have said her 31-year-old boyfriend, who was arrested during the raid, was selling drugs out of the house. The raid concluded a long-term investigation into the sale of illegal drugs from the home, the police chief said.
The shooting has led to much soul searching about the mistrust between minorities and police and what happens to cities when manufacturing jobs move out and drugs move in.

“The root of this is we have no jobs here,” said Artria Knuckles, who manages a Taco Bell and supports four children in this northwestern Ohio city. “They have to do what they can to survive. They have to resort to selling drugs.”
And the above statement ladies and gentlemen, is the very reason there will always be ghettos, dope dealers, a great divide between the races and the various acts of murder and mayhem that accompany the actions associated with drug dealers…
No one is FORCED into this, no one, and when those that DO participate pay the price, naturally the race card is going to be played, of course the cops raided the house because they were BLACK drug dealers, I mean, everyone knows that cops don’t bust WHITE drug dealers, and we ALL know the woman was shot simply because she was an innocent BLACK bystander, it had nothing to do with serious drug deals, and God only knows what other circumstances going down in her house, done by her boyfriend, or whatever he was, or her, I am not passing judgement on her or the officer that shot her or the reasons for the shooting but if there was a long term investigation and drugs were being dealt, she was far from innocent in THIS situation…
‘She was such a good child, she was a wonderful mother, they was jus’ a dealin dem drugs to makes ends meet til she could catch a break and goes back to whorin’ down at the I-75 rest area…’, and truth be known, that is NOT as far from a real statement as one might imagine, anyone that could justify drug dealing and it’s relation to their employment status would seriously use that as more justification, these are the very types of excuses our police officers hear every day, people doing the crimes aren’t actually BAD people, they were just forced into it by economic maladies and life circumstance…
And have you ever wondered?? These people use their lack of work to justify their drug usage or dealing, or both, but they don’t have any money, just sayin’…
‘We wuz jus a tryin’ to keeps food on da table fo’ dem chirrens’…’

Many black environments are simply bankrupt — as in bankrupt culturally, morally, ethically. They have little on which to model themselves. Liberals (read: Democrats) are responsible as they INSISTED that black males leave the family unit with the inception of welfare. Once they took the black male out of the equation, young black males had no one or nothing after which to pattern themselves — no responsible, disciplined, accountable males on which to model. None. They were yanked out of the black family structure wholesale.
What too many overeducated and guilty white males and females simply do not and apparently CANNOT understand is that once you ruin a good social pattern, NO amount of MONEY can bring it back. Only GOOD MORALS and GOOD PEOPLE can brings those aspects back.
Forced to sell drugs? That’s just a lame and brainless amount of BULLSHIT.
The cop shooting itself? No matter the fact pattern, people will find any reason to act as they act. People inclined to riot will riot and those not won’t. Who needs an excuse?
Just remember WHO ruined generations of black families. . .
BZ
Dealing drugs is illegal, period.
If you get in the way when our police officers are trying to arrest someone dealing drugs and you get yourself killed, so be it, better you than me.
How many people did this lady and her family distroy to make ends meet?
Are the families, the people, the kids that she effected not important?
I’m so sick of the crap.
To all police officers out there, do us all a favor and kill every last one of them, black or white or brown or whatever, put them in the ground.
They are the casualty of a war, Fred, a war started in 1964 called the War of Poverty. With great sweeping socialism, the foundations of morality, self-discipline, and personal initiative were swept away. And its Commander in Chief, our own Lyndon Baines Johnson. And his proud successors, HRC, Obama, Edwards, Kennedy, Pelosi, Reid, all zealously following in his footsteps.
Ah the road to hell is paved with “good” intentions.
You think maybe if she hadn’t allowed her boyfriend to deal drugs from her house, she might be alive today? You make your choices in life and you must suffer the consequences.
Where were all these Black Clergy leaders when the drug dealings were going on? Did they ever visit her house and invite her to church? Did the ladies of their church visit and befriend her? Did any of these good Church folks sit in front of this womans house and pray that God would drive the drugs from the neighborhood?
How about the residents who are demanding answers? Where were they when the drug dealings were taking place? You would think these people would be happy a drug house in no longer in their neighborhood?
No there are not innocent bystanders in this event. Choices have consequences, good and bad. The consequences of dealing drugs can be high. Death is a pretty high price for this choice, but it was an option that came with the package.
Notice that none of the above paragraph suggests race as a variable. Race is only a convenient trump card played when the user feels they can have some financial or personal gain.
BZ- You got the situation pegged. Unfortunately, on there road to dreamland they failed to read the warning signs.
I don’t care who does the crime. It can be rainbow striped unix and I would still want the cops to take them out of commission. One way or another.
“…..a 26-year-old mother of six.” A mother of six living in a drug den. You play, you pay.
I have a friend at work who’s relative was tased to death in Texas not too long ago, I didn’t see any outrage from the so called “Justice seekers” I didn’t see any riots in the streets or even many stories from the MSM… Oh I forgot he was white, nuff said.
These drug dealers provide a valued service to our community, they act as a population control, but they are falling way behind. The anchor babies and the crack babies and all the gubmint cheese craving babies being born in the inner cities are outnumbering the OD’s and drug related killings that go on in that atmosphere.
It wouldn’t bother me too much to see the numbers start to even out, bring one in one must leave….Sounds pretty bad but screw it.
