FBI warns extremist letters may encourage violence

WASHINGTON (AP) - The FBI is warning police across the country that an anti-government group’s call to remove governors from office could provoke violence by others.

A group that calls itself the Guardians of the free Republics wants to “restore America” by peacefully dismantling parts of the government, according to its Web site.

As of Wednesday, more than 30 governors had received letters saying if they don’t leave office within three days they will be removed, according to an internal intelligence note by the FBI and the Department of Homeland Security. The note was obtained by The Associated Press.

Investigators do not see threats of violence in the group’s message, but fear the broad call for removing top state officials could lead others to act out violently.

I can’t wait to hear the talking heads on MSNBC as they try to spin this into an anti-TEA Party rant. Olbermann and his even more disgusting sidekick, Tingles, will be all over the airwaves in a full blown effort to connect this to the TEA Party Patriots I am guessing.

Every time there’s a leftwing nut-job, or a far rightwing extremist making threats, the Media makes a rush to judgement and automatically assumes that it must be those TEA Party people at it again.

The TEA Party does seek to bring change to America, but we aren’t seeking to bring about those changes through violence or anarchy. We’re not advocating the overthrow of anyone. We DO believe that REAL change needs to come to America, but that change should come from the ballot box.

The TEA Party is a group of individuals united by our shared core values. We recognize the strength of grassroots organizing powered by activism and civic responsibility at a local level.

*Uphold the U.S. Constitution*

The core values of the TEA Party are the same values upon which the United States of America was founded and are rooted in our belief in Natural Law. They derive from a belief in free will, the primacy of individual and personal responsibility. We will uphold and follow the original intent of the Constitution of the United States.

*Limited Government*

The purpose of our government is to protect our liberties by administering justice and ensuring our safety from threats arising inside or outside our country’s sovereign borders. When our government ventures beyond these functions and attempts to increase its power over the marketplace and the economic decisions of individuals, our liberties are diminished and the probability of corruption, internal strife, economic depression, and poverty increases. Our moral, political, and economic liberties are inherent, not gifts from the government. It is essential to the practice of these liberties that we be free from restriction over our peaceful political expression and free from excessive control over our economic choices. Limited Government simply means the federal government only deals with national issues and inter-state commerce and leaves other issues to the state and local governments.

*Fiscal Responsibility*

Fiscal Responsibility includes demanding a balanced budget, no earmarks or pork, no bailouts and no deficit spending except in a time of war when borrowed funds are only used to support the war.

*Free Markets*

The most powerful, proven instrument of material and social progress is the free market. The market economy, driven by the accumulated expressions of individual economic choices, is the only economic system that preserves and enhances individual liberty. Any other economic system, regardless of its intended pragmatic benefits, undermines our fundamental rights as free people. Free Markets is defined as “the simple process of supply and demand without artificial markets created by government intervention.”

That’s what the TEA Party, and being a TEA Party member is all about. We don’t sit around all day, sipping Earl Grey and munching cookies. We can’t explain ourselves much better than that.
