Join us or die, drug kingpins warn Mexican police

May 18th, 2008 . by TexasFred

CIUDAD JUAREZ, MEXICO — Drug cartels are sending a brutal message to police and soldiers in cities across Mexico: Join us or die.

The threat appears in recruiting banners hung across roadsides and in publicly posted death lists. Cops get warnings over their two-way radios. At least four high-ranking police officials were gunned down this month, including Mexico’s acting federal police chief.

Mexico has battled for years to clean up its security forces and win them the public’s respect. But Mexicans generally assume police and even soldiers are corrupt until proven otherwise, and the honest ones lack resources, training and the assurance that their colleagues are watching their backs. Here, the taboo on cop-killing familiar to Americans seems hardly to apply.

Police who take on the cartels feel isolated and vulnerable when they become targets, as did 22 commanders in the border city of Ciudad Juarez when drug traffickers named them on a handwritten death list left at a monument to fallen police this year. It was addressed to “those who still don’t believe” in the power of the cartels.

Of the 22, seven have been killed and three wounded in assassination attempts. Of the others, all but one have quit, and city officials said he didn’t want to be interviewed.

On Sunday, city spokesman Sergio Belmonte confirmed that Juarez’s police chief had submitted his resignation and said he would be replaced by a military official on leave from the armed forces.

Join us or die, drug kingpins warn Mexican police

I think that most anyone that has read my blog for very long knows exactly how I feel about Mexico and our unsecured border, I have made no secret of the fact that I have no use for Mexico, it’s citizens or it’s ineffectual army and police, and I really have a problem with the ILLEGAL INVASION that this nation is suffering, so, I am not going to preach on those topics this time, I’m going to give them a bit of rest…

What I’m wanting to do right now is ask a few questions, I hope I get some serious answers:

1. Given the candidates in the running at this time, does your choice for the office of the presidency support a strong and secure border??

2. Does that choice support strong and effective enforcement of the immigration laws of this nation??

3. Does that choice have a viable plan to stop this Mexican drug cartel BS from spilling over the border into our nation??

If you’re supporting John McCain, Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton, then the answer is a resounding NO!! Just sayin’…

Are we going to once again settle for appeasers, amnesty supporters, gun grabbers and those that would give the United States of America away in support of a North American Union??

We deserve a lot better America, but we have to take a hard stand and demand that we get that better and stronger government that we should have, we have to demand that the parties run a much higher quality candidate than we are seeing now, we have to demand that the candidates have some real qualifications and not just a great presentation of speech, we can’t just sit back and accept whatever the RNC, the DNC and the MSM tells us is best for us…

We must lose the apathy that has spread over our land, it’s time to think about what’s best for America and who will lead this nation back to the greatness that we, all of us, once took for granted, and we must never again settle for what is perceived to be the lesser of the evils…

And one last question, what are YOU prepared to do, you personally, if this violence does spill over the border and threatens our towns, our homes, our citizens and our way of life??

Several ways to approach this problem.
    1. Institute the death penalty for drug pusher in the U.S. and anyone caught transporting drugs across our borders. (not going to happen)
    2. Build a fence on the Mexican border. (not going to happen)
    3. Join the Mexican drug cartel, what do you get in return ? Money, protection from the law, and a good mariachi band when you need it.
    4. Legalize drugs, collect the taxes.
    5. Keep friends like Smith and Wesson very close.

The problem is that no one with character will run. How can a person of substance and character stand up to the slander and lies of all those who would stand against them.

We were once a nation of bright and shining hope. The best and the brightest stood before us and lead this nation.

Now we have the dimmest and the dumbest running this nation and it seems to be spiraling down out of control.

We no longer seem to be ruled by the majority but the radical minority. The rest of us have little to say and if we should open our mouths we are taken to task in the worst way. The first amendment is no longer the law of the land.

I would love to see a list of real conservatives with brains and clear speech that could stand up and lead this nation.

Fred you know that US Mexico policy has been totally messed up since 1916. I am completely exasperated by it.

Even my favorite president (Reagan) didn’t do anything about it. Congress, even under the Newt revolution nothing was done.

In the Texas Declaration of Independence, the mexican people were declared, “incapable of self government.” That seems to ring true even today. The sad thing is, the American people aint much better. The apathy goes all the way to the bone with most folks.

I know you want some God comments from me. Here goes. Freedom is the gift of an Almighty Creator. Squandering that is a pretty crappy thing to do.

Also, this situation places churches in a bad spot. Every day, Texas churches walk a line between Godly hospitality and aiding and abetting. The US government put the churches in that position by not keeping the border safe.

Forgoing border enforcement to avoid changing immigration policy puts everybody in a compromising position. It encourages the mexican people to break the law. It encourages Americans to turn a blind eye. It invites the kind of crap we get from mexican outlaws.

A lack of border enforcement is ungodly. I think it is even more dangerous than the gay marriage stuff. I think it is even more dangerous than corporate fraud. I do think our nation is constantly shooting God the finger. Not managing our fences is one way we do that.

Big White Hat, the ‘god comments’ was a typo, I guess folks knew that, but ya know, I am glad you made the ones you did, thank you my friend, that’s the kind of comments I am looking for… Thank you, sincerely…

A lot of folks may not know this, but Becky and I got to meet BWH, we had lunch together a while back, and I am not one to hand out compliments just for the hell of it, but BWH is a great guy, very funny, very serious, all American and a Texan to his very core, it was MY privilege to make his acquaintance…

If this violence would stay on the Mexican side of the border then we could do nothing (nor should we then), but it is crossing over the border and starting to destroy OUR towns and cities. US policemen and women are being killed by these cartels. The time is coming when we do invade Mexico to stop the cartels. And we will hear the Tower of Babel scream about Mexican sovereignty and not about American rights.

  8. comment number 8 by: Big White Hat

I forgot to comment on the extortion.

The kingpins are absolutely ruthless. We would be perfectly justified in pulling a war on drugs in Mexico. I supported the war on Escebedo. I would support similar efforts against these folks.

  9. comment number 9 by: Sam Pierce

My choice would be fantastic on the first three questions! Unfortunately Rep. Duncan Hunter is no longer in the race. I doubt there is an ounce of difference in the border plans of any of the three remaining major party candidates.

I’m not sure what I would be willing or able to do, but I am pretty certain I’d die trying to defend my family.

Mexico is a country where corruption is a way of life at its highest levels of government. Their police force and military are nothing but thugs in uniform. Border incidents where military and police provide protection for drug runners are well documented. My nephew was recently held at gunpoint and robbed by six Mexican cops in Cancun.

Mexicans are rapidly becoming the largest minority group in America. Within our lifetime, they will start holding high political office in a majority of states and at the Federal level. The corruption they were raised with will stay a way of life for them here in the US. If you want to see what the US may look like in 20 year, or so, just look at Mexico and Central America.

In that post you ran the other day with Pastor Manning preaching on Obama, at the end of the video, he tells Blacks that in two years, Mexicans will running their lives and signing their pay checks. You would think the NAACP would wake up to this but they’re still supporting Illegal Aliens coming from Mexico.

Sam, that’s exactly my point, Duncan Hunter and Tom Tancredo didn’t even get a half-assed fair shake in this thing, and those 2 would make a tremendous team I believe…

And it’s guys like them that made me come up with the idea of None of the Above because for damn sure, none of the ones running are worth a bucket of warm, uh, water… Yeah, warm water…

Anyone who visits my blog, knows how I feel about Mexico. They have never been able to govern themselves. With the vast resources they have, they should be one of the richest and advanced nations in the world - but they aren’t and never will be. The gutless politicians in this country, led by George W. Bush, do nothing but throw OUR tax dollars at them. Secure the G-damn border, protect Americans, and let Mexico rot is my feelings!

What’s gonna TAKE before the POTUS and Congress actually DO something about the Mexico/U.S. border?!?

Attacks by Mexican drug lords and their thugs on Americans on U.S. soil?

Oh wait…that happened and nothing was done.

Kidnappings by Mexican drug thugs of Americans in Mexico?

Oh wait…that happened and nothing was done.

Kidnappings by Mexican drug thugs of Americans on U.S. soil?

Oh wait…that happened and nothing was done.

Murders by Mexican drug thugs on U.S. soil?

Oh wait…that happened and nothing was done.

I guess the congress critters in Washington have written off their duties under the Constitution to protect Americans from this sort of heinous acts by Mexican drug cartel thugs. Can someone…some organization…bring a class action IMPEACHMENT of all those in the Federal government who are not protecting Americans from this?

Fred, forget a border fence, forget help for the Border Agents already understaffed and overworked, handcuffed by all sorts of red tape, forget about any cooperation from the Mexican government — they JUST DON’T GIVE A RAT’S ASS UP IN WASHINGTON!

I’d like to bitch-slap each and every one of ‘em until they shape up.

    Lock and load, indeed.

We need leaders who are not afraid of enforcing OUR laws on OUR land. Kowtowing to the vocal minority is what got us to where we are.

The list of conservatives who are qualified to lead this country where it needs to go is short; the list of those qualified and willing even shorter. Certainly, none of the “presumptive” candidates for either of the major parties is going to get the job done when it comes to maintaining the sovereignty of the United States. I certainly don’t know who I am going to vote for. The “candidates” decry the “single issue voter” but fail to realize that this one issue drives 75% of the rest of the issues we as a nation are facing today.

I do, however, know this: You will never find out how well armed I am or how well trained my dogs are unless you stop by the house personally. I would suggest you call first if it’s meant to be a friendly visit.

Bring the troops home from Iraq & Afghanistan, we got serious problems right here in ‘River City’. Invade Mexico and take it ‘all’ like we should have done after the Mex/American war. (Be a lot cheaper logistic wise, as well as a good idea) Kill with extreme prejudice anyone associated with these cartels on both sides of the border. Be a lot of whining about this in the UN and so on. That’s no problem as we just tell the whiners MYOFB or you’re next. I’m fucking tired of talk, talk, talk, and nothing is ever done. If the job is to drain the swamp and build the road and the gators in the swamp are attacking us, kill the fucking gators and get on with the job!

Isn’t that the same thing the Islamists say, Convert or Die?

The situation on the border is getting worse by the day. The situation in Mexico is leading to a failed state in Mexico. Mexico won’t be the only country suffering, the US will feel the brunt when things collapse.

I agree with JimmyK, (except on No. 3), and with Murray. I want the fence and want it now. I want every property owner in bordering states to support the fence. Those who do not? They are my enemy, and near treasonous. To say that their property is being grabbed…I don’t think so. Surely there is some kind of government set-back allotted for utilities, or whatever, no matter where, or how remote, the property. Put the fence there.

Take every Mexican criminal that we cannot keep in prison to the farthest point in Mexico and drop him/her there without a dime on his person. Fly them there, ship them there. Eisenhower did it, and it worked.

Stop anchor babies. Get serious about allowing border guards to actually secure the border, and let Ramos and Compean out of prison.

Term limits so that no one needs illegal votes of any kind.

Of course, I cannot do any of this, and I’m from a Conservative State whose Congressmen usually vote the way I want them to. Start with the fence and vote everyone out of office that does not secure borders.

Debbie Pointed to the real problem.

Mexico is falling into anarchy and with our porous borders we are vulnerable to the fall out from this battle. It will be a major battle. We have only seen the beginning. A full on war will soon ensue between these drug cartel groups and they have purchased some pretty nasty weapons to do the job.
Without serious border patrol and clear borders we are going to have the war right here in America. San Diego and Los Angels have warring parties now doing drive bys and full on battles.

None of our presidential hopefuls has a clue or are willing to admit to the problem. Vote pandering and flip flopping is all we are going to get.

I’m a moderate and I have never owned a gun nor have I seen a need to but two weeks ago I called my daughter (who does own guns) and told her that I thought it was time for me to become armed. She is going to take me to a firing range first and rent guns and go from there. I never thought our country would reach this point where I would fell this unsafe.

I have been a tent camper for sixty years and I have camped all over this country with never a problem but now I am actually afraid. Now that I am retired I planned on going down to Texas during the winter and explore your mountains but there is no way that I would do it now

This past legislative session our legislature (Kansas) tried to pass a bill limiting illegals rights and penalities for those businesses that hire them. The large business here screamed bloody heck and the Catholic church joined in with them. The bill quietly died.

So what am I willing to do? Get a gun, vote against all incumbents, try not to do business with anyone who hires illegals and keep on writing letters. And also be mouthy as hell any time the subject comes up. I think we should offer illegals two choices: be sterilized and stay here as a citizen or go home.

Good post Fred, great comments, and here’s my outlook:

Sadly, It’s looking pretty bad for this country and it’s continuation in it’s present and previous form, as even with so called Republicans in office for the past decade the country is now infested from border to border with so called “undocumented aliens, (I prefer the words criminal aliens) many of them bringing the drugs, their connections to the drugs and long absent diseases with them to all our cities and towns.

They will not be leaving anytime soon, if ever at this point.

So with a certainty that a liberal is now headed for the presidency, we can only expect that this will continue full bore, and it’s only a question of which color the person is sitting in the oral office will be at this juncture. They’re both kissing the a**es of the Mexican lobby and the Government, so we’ll just keep losing tax dollars to the south as

I’m armed to the hilt and fully expect this country to lose all it’s bearings during the next administration and onward. Sadly, the great country we grew up in and were given custodianship of is gone forever , having been fully hijacked by sick socialist liberals and mostly illegal alien criminals, and is headed the way of ancient rome if anywhere along with the rest of the world, so as I said I fully expect the worst from here on out, and will be fighting it every step of the way, guns blazing if need be.

Until we get politicians with the kahoonas to actually send troops to the border and enforce our sovereignty, we will continue to be victims of those who have no respect for human life. Unfortunately none of the 3 running for POTUS have a set between them and neither do 90% of the legislators.

“More than 3 million square miles of territory to protect, 10 thousand miles of border to guard and a fence to build 10, 11 or 12 miles high. It is better to have less thunder in the mouth and more lightning in the hand.”

“I’d like to bitch-slap each and every one of ‘em until they shape up.”

The first thing I pictured when I read the above was that scene in “Airplane” where the entire plane is lined up to bitch slap a hysterical passenger. It was a hilarious scene, but appropriate for this congress.

I live in Arizona and it’s hell here. The Employer Sanctions law was voted in and has been working spectacularly. It is being challenged-and has been continually challenged since it was voted in-by all the civil rights groups like La Raza, Aztlan, etc. However, it’s working. Phoenix has Sheriff Joe (damn I wish we could clone him).

We have a morning radio talk show host who came up with the idea of “What If America?”-a plan where, if the government won’t build the fence, the citizens will. They are at the stage of logisitics right now. Funding? Pledges from people using their “stimulus” checks. Throw the government money into something the government won’t do. You can google it and go to the site to see what it’s all about. Yes, I have pledged my stimulus money to this effort.

Ultimately, while people screech about vigilantism, it may very well come to that-if the government won’t do its job, the citizens will do it and on this issue the plans are in the works.

Don’t forget about the latest troop funding bill and HR5515 in Washington now, either-another attempt to ram this down our throats and in the case of HR5515, we won’t have the rights to defend ourselves against these invaders.

    Just my two cents worth.

  28. comment number 28 by: Faultline USA

Fred that’s a great post and you’ve got some great answers. I’m not at all optimistic. Unless we Americans can get behind a real conservative LEADER who is willing to take on the entire U.S. government (that apparently is content with the Mexican invasion), I don’t believe the fight against illegal immigration will go anywhere. Most Americans have lost the concept of states’ rights. Most American conservatives are so ruggedly independent that we can’t come together to support anyone en masse. One idea that you and I floated a couple of weeks ago was the “Come and Take It!” symbol. At least, we would have a unifying symbol of resistance!

  29. comment number 29 by: GUYK

Basti is right..this country has been invaded my millions from south of the border..invasions have historically been considered an act of war thus the Mexican people have declared war on the USA..blow ‘em to hell and then go on and take out Chavez.

And then Hassan Obama can talk about 57 states and be right..

  30. comment number 30 by: Panhandle Poet

The fact that the Cartel feels threatened enough to put out their death list is a bright spot. It means there are a few who are not in their pay. It kind of reminds me of a few old Westerns……

  31. comment number 31 by: LoneRider

So, we can use imminent domain for a Football stadium, but we can’t for a fence to protect the nation, hmmm.

I sometimes muse what it will take to get the attention of the average Joe, 3rd world diseases (TB, bed bugs, etc.) have been on the rise for a few years, murdered Americans, they are raping our children and woman, draining our social services, and so on. What will it take. Arggg, even gun fights in Laredo don’t get much attention.

Sadly, I can’t help but wonder, if the drug cartels start to really flex their muscle, the only effect N. of the border may be to send more money to the Mexican Government to help them fight crime.

If I was king, I would do exactly what has been proposed by a few of the people here, stop sending money to a resource rich country, build a fence and give those who defend it the authority to actually defend it.

    3) Not applicable
    4) I’ll shoot first and ask questions later

Immigration takes a back seat to global warming with me, but as a card-carrying member of the NRA, maybe you folks will kindly give me a pass on that one. I got an e-mail asking me to weigh in, so I’ll do it.

Politicians in Washington have contracted “DirecTv syndrome” on the immigration issue.

DirecTv syndrome is the misguided compulsion for one to offer better incentives to potential new customers while simultaneously ignoring the customers one has already earned.

Want a free DVR? Nope. You’re not a new customer. You’ll have to pay $300. However, if you weren’t an old customer, we could have given you a free one.

    Sound familiar?

I don’t pretend to have a solution to this. All I know is the simple math:

20 Million (conservative estimate) new citizens added to the lower class + climate change treaty = a bear market the likes of which we have never seen in this country’s history.

Am I worried? Yes. But I know that people like yourselves & me will ultimately take over & start running the show if these two components ever see the light of day. We’re trying to get the message out now, but no one will ultimately listen until the proverbial poop has hit the fan.

Yes, you are correct. Guess my frustration at the GOP still hasn’t subsided even after having left the party two years ago.

My choices are Bob Barr as the (likely) Libertarian candidate and penciling in my own name as a write-in. I haven’t read up on Barr’s positions just yet, either on border security or on my pet-peeve subject.

As for the remaining 3 stooges in the lineup, I refuse to vote for any of them….not that Clinton & Obama were ever a consideration.

It’s almost too depressing to think about. The politicians will sell their own souls for votes, they aren’t going to do anything to protect our border. Before we know it Americans will be the minority in America. Then what?
