Obama tells Tenn.’s GOP: ‘Lay off my wife’

May 19th, 2008 . by TexasFred
WASHINGTON (AP) - Democrat Barack Obama has a message for Tennessee’s Republican Party: “Lay off my wife.”

Obama, his party’s presidential front-runner, and his wife, Michelle, were asked in an interview aired Monday on ABC’s “Good Morning America” about an online video last week by the state’s GOP taking her to task for a comment some considered unpatriotic.

“The GOP, should I be the nominee, can say whatever they want to say about me, my track record,” Obama said. “If they think that they’re going to try to make Michelle an issue in this campaign, they should be careful because that I find unacceptable, the notion that you start attacking my wife or my family.”

He called the strategy “low class.”

The video, posted on YouTube, centered on remarks Michelle Obama made while campaigning in Wisconsin last February, when she said: “For the first time in my adult life, I am really proud of my country.”

The four-minute video replayed the remark six times, interspersing it with commentary by Tennesseans on why they are proud of America. In a news release that included a link to the video, Tennessee’s GOP said “the Tennessee Republican Party has always been proud of America.” It urged radio stations to play “patriotic music” during Michelle Obama’s visit to Nashville last Thursday.

Obama tells Tenn.’s GOP: ‘Lay off my wife’

To Sen. Barak Obama: Screw off crybaby!!

If she opens her mouth on the campaign trail, she’s fair game.

If she places herself in a position that opens her to criticism, she’s fair game.

If you can’t handle it, put your big boy britches on, stop crying and tell the bowlegged ugly old bat to keep her mouth shut, in other words, get used it.

We can talk about what ever we want. This is still America. Besides, shouldn’t a presidential nominee support the Constitution? y’oud think….but you might be wrong!

She put herself in the public arena and is fair game - and an easy target…….

    Don’t attack her?

But - she’s been attacking these United States since her husband reared his ugly head. It’s justifiable self-defense!

When it walks like its campaigning for Obama, talks like its campaigning for Obama, taking shots at others like its campaigning for Obama, then it is in fact campaigning for Obama and subject to every bit of focus and scrutiny and, further, it takes it upon itself to speak FOR Obama.

    So, yes, skewer away.

I thought Obama was a liberal that believed in women’s rights. I’m confused. He’s acting like a chauvinist (or at least in the liberal meaning of the word) - protecting the little lady. Can’t she take care of herself? The feminazis should jump on this, but they won’t.

Bill Clinton has been attacked repeatedly during the primary. He’s not the candidate. Why is that okay and Obama’s wife is off limits?

The minute Michelle Obama opened her mouth and entered the political arena she became fair game. If Hussein Obama wants his wife not to be attacked for what she says, then he should tell her to shut up.

    MEMO TO BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA…

I am sick of you left wing cry babies whining about ‘negative campaigning’ when it is you that have been more negative and unfair for the entire length of the Bush term - two terms, by the way, and you couldn’t stop it….
