Death penalty possible in Vermont kidnap case
July 3rd, 2008 . by TexasFredBURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) - Federal prosecutors have filed kidnapping charges that carry the death penalty against a Vermont man whose 12-year-old niece was found dead near his home.
The federal charges against Michael Jacques provide for the death penalty in kidnappings resulting in a child’s death.
State and federal prosecutors spoke in Burlington on Thursday as 42-year-old Jacques was charged with kidnapping Brooke Bennett. Brooke was missing for a week before her body was found Wednesday evening.
In court papers, authorities accused Jacques of carefully orchestrating events and e-mails to make it look like Brooke had gone to see someone she had met online.

The death penalty is on the table in this particular case, but the prosecution had best hurry, otherwise the 5-4 SCOTUS may well rule that his death would be cruel and unusual.
My personal opinion is that the death penalty should be on the table in ALL cases of child rape, and even if it’s NOT a child, the rapist should face the most severe punishment we can possibly administer.
Cruel and unusual? I am certain that the liberal Justices never even considered what the victim feels, in typical libber fashion, they are more concerned with the rights and feelings of the guilty criminal.
BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — The body of a missing 12-year-old Vermont girl was found Wednesday buried near her uncle’s home, hours after documents surfaced that accused the man of planning to initiate her into a child sex ring.
Brooke Bennett’s body was found about 4:45 p.m., about a mile from her uncle’s house, said State Police Director Col. James Baker. Police who had been searching the uncle’s property noticed the ground was disturbed and found her body buried underneath.
The girl’s uncle, Michael Jacques, who has been in custody since Sunday on sexual assault charges involving another underage girl, is to be charged in federal court with kidnapping, police Sgt. Tara Thomas said.

This uncle is apparently nothing more than a pedophile, an animal that preys on the weakest and most innocent among us, and being her uncle it’s almost a certainty that he played on her trust as well.
Maybe it’s the *Dad* in me, maybe it’s my staunch Conservatism, maybe it’s because I know that pedophiles are simply useless slugs of humanity, whatever the case may be, I am nothing less than disgusted with the recent ruling by the SCOTUS concerning the death penalty not being imposed on child rapists.
And somehow I can’t help but believe that the ACLU, NAMBLA and various other groups of perverts and assorted libber trash will be springing to the defense of this animal, Michael Jacques.
If the government doesn’t execute you Jacques, you’re still going to burn in hell, and even that is too good for you, your ilk and your supporters.

As much as we talk about crime and punishment or lack there of… I wonder will it ever change? will we ever get to a point that a line has been crossed and punishment will actually fit the crime?
We all know that back in the day punishment was directly administered according to the crime committed, since we have “evolved” the punishment is more of a “well we have to do something” than an actual message to those that might perpetrate the same crime later.
I would like to see a more painful and public way for our country to deal with these type of folks, the damage done to families can not me measured. However; a ball bat in the hands of a victim’s family member after sentencing can give them some form of closure…
Give me just 10 minutes alone with each of these creatures. I can assure you they would never do this again!

In MY country, the victim’s family will be able to select the implement of their choosing and utilize said implement in whichever way THEY wish against the suspect after having been found guilty in a court of law.

I sat on a jury many years ago that involved an incredibly brutal rape, torture, and murder. We, the people determined that the bastard deserved the death penalty. The Supreme Court decided that it , the death penalty, and all at that time were Un-Constitutional. I am still pissed …

I watched alot of this on Nancy Grace with my mother in law. We both asked the same thing about the mom and her sister - WHY would you stay married to a pervert? Why would you allow your children to be put in such a situation?
Castration then a slow, painful death isn’t enough punishment for these creeps, but what would make a woman put her children in such a situation?
I find it hard to believe the women who were married to these creeps didn’t know what they were about.
Yes, the mom is grieving - I cannot imagine how it must feel to lose a child, but I AM a mom and would never, ever put my child in danger for any man - this includes the women married to dope heads, gang bangers and drunks, especially if they aren’t the natural fathers.
