U.S. Raids Baghdad Slum; 26 Iraqis Die

BAGHDAD (AP) - American soldiers rolled into Baghdad’s Shiite Sadr City slum on Saturday in search of Iranian-linked militants and as many as 26 Iraqis were killed in what a U.S. officer described as “an intense firefight.”

But residents, police and hospital officials said eight civilians were killed in their homes and angrily accused U.S. forces of firing blindly on the innocent. Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki condemned the raids and demanded an explanation for the assault into a district where he has barred U.S. operations in the past.

KANDAHAR, Afghanistan (AP) - U.S.-led airstrikes targeting Taliban militants who had attacked NATO forces slammed into civilian homes in southern Afghanistan, killing both civilians and insurgents, Afghan and Western officials said Saturday.

Like most battles in the dangerous and remote regions of Afghanistan, casualty estimates varied widely.

Most of my regular readers already know this, but lately I’ve been picking up a few anti-American trolls that seem to think that no matter what America does, it’s wrong, well, here’s a bit of that REAL DEAL truth I am known for handing out, in WAR, people die, and not all of them are combatants either…

There are some that will try their very best to construe any and all civilian deaths as the President either committing an act of murder or having actually ordered these deaths so he could gloat in his commission of WAR CRIMES…

Recently I engaged in a robust debate with a couple of very dedicated libbers HERE and they are just foaming at the mouth for Bush to be impeached for WAR CRIMES, treason and other ‘high crimes’, and while I personally don’t agree with us going into Iraq, I FULLY agreed with us going into Afghanistan, but in either case, I see NO war crimes or acts of mass murder being committed as claimed by the libbers in the linked comments on another blog…

And you know what really scares ME?? The fact that I was forced to agree with Barack Obama and Nancy Pelosi on their views regarding the impeachment of President Bush, points that totally escaped the flaming libbers involved in this discussion as they continued to spout off with ‘Bush must be impeached at ALL costs’ as they let their hatred for Bush blind them of ANY common sense…

I would encourage my readers to actually read the post and comments at Pen and Sword and offer your comments as well, I know Jeff would appreciate the visits and I would love to see how some of you handle the same libbers, and please, be somewhat polite, it’s Jeff’s blog and while he does lean a bit to the left, he’s NOT a moonbat, not by ANY stretch of the imagination, Jeff Huber is a reasonable guy that served this nation well, he’s a retired U.S. Navy Commander and a writer of some note, he is regularly published at Military.com and I have a great deal of respect for him personally…
