US, Iraqi Civilian Deaths Fall Sharply

October 1st, 2007 . by TexasFred

BAGHDAD (AP) - Deaths among American forces and Iraqi civilians fell dramatically last month to their lowest levels in more than a year, according to figures compiled by the U.S. military, the Iraqi government and The Associated Press.

The decline signaled a U.S. success in bringing down violence in Baghdad and surrounding regions since Washington completed its infusion of 30,000 more troops on June 15.

A total of 64 American forces died in September - the lowest monthly toll since July 2006.

The decline in Iraqi civilian deaths was even more dramatic, falling from 1,975 in August to 922 last month, a decline of 53.3 percent. The breakdown in September was 844 civilians and 78 police and Iraqi soldiers, according to Iraq’s ministries of Health, Interior and Defense.

Of course the deaths are down, the surge has worked, for Baghdad, and that is where the majority of the deaths in Iraq have occurred, by far…

If you force the insurgents out of Baghdad you WILL get much more favorable numbers, by taking them out of Baghdad you take away the almost innumerable targets of opportunity, by driving them out to the smaller towns and villages you force them to lay low, in the smaller areas the population is well known to itself, in Baghdad there is an anonymity that any big city has to offer…

Don’t get me wrong, I am ecstatic over the numbers, this is great news, but can it be maintained??

Once the surge ends, and assuming that U.S. forces will be downsized over the next year or so, can the Iraqis keep this level of security in Baghdad and keep those numbers down to their current level, or take them to even lower levels and deny the insurgents any level of success??

I don’t believe they can IF they are forced to play by the PC rules that Mr. Bush wants the world to conduct it’s business by, let’s face facts, Saddam was an evil tyrant but did you hear of any terrorist or insurgent attacks under HIS regime??

And if Iraq can install a hard-core leader that will rule with an iron fist and keep Iraq as a nice, quiet and peaceful place, and IF we can make that leader a solid U.S. ally and not some moonbat Muslim supporter screaming Death to America as soon as we put him in power, this may all be worthwhile in the grand scheme of things, but if Iraq goes the way that Afghanistan appears to be headed as Karzai offers an open hand and political positions to the insurgents and Taliban, none of it has been worth ANYTHING and we will have wasted all the American lives and tax dollars that have been lost in Iraq…

Look folks, I don’t care WHAT all the ‘Rah-Rah Bush Bot’ sites tell you, Iraq is NEVER going to be the USA, it can’t, at least not until such a time as the USA surrenders to the moonbat Muslims and we are governed by Sharia law, until that time, or given the emergence of a STRONG Iraqi leader, Iraq is going to remain exactly what it is, a dangerous, divided land that has 3 sects of Islam fighting each other for supremacy, that area of the world has been in almost constant conflict for centuries and there’s not too much we can do to change it, we can suppress the violence as long as WE maintain a High Profile Presence but as soon as we back out and stand down, it’s on again, do YOU want to have an American troops presence in Iraq 50 years from now??

Maybe I’m being too one way about this but if we can’t use Iraq to OUR advantage, WHY the hell are we there?? Cheap oil?? Yeah, right…

I think we should build our largest Military base yet, nuclear weapons and all, right in the middle of Iraq. Let the Muslim countries around Iraq know that we’re here and we’re not going anywhere. Station 3 hundred thousand or more troops there at all times.

This would give us a great launching pad to start taking them out, one at a time.

Take one out, build a base.

This would make it all worth while, IMO.

Turn the oil fields over to an American company and let the party begain.

Could it be that victory is in site? In Iraq anyway? Now it’s time to deal with Iran.

I see where a volcano erupted near Yemen after and earthquake. I take this as a sign that Allah is upset that his moon-bats haven’t thrown the infidels out of the Middle-East. We just might by accident be doing something right, it can’t have been by careful planning, as we don’t know how to do that any more!!!
