Analysis: Many in child-sex cases serve no time

October 22nd, 2007 . by TexasFred

DALLAS — Despite new get-tough Texas laws aimed at harshly punishing child rapists, many offenders sentenced in the most heinous of child sex crimes initially receive no prison time at all, according to a newspaper analysis published today.

Research by The Dallas Morning News found that in 13,000 cases involving aggravated sexual assault of a child since 1991, four of every 10 sentenced offenders received deferred adjudication.

When an offender was sent to prison, less than one in five got 25 years or longer.

Under stricter sentencing laws passed in Texas this year, prosecutors can seek the death penalty for some repeat child rapists. But experts say that dealing harshly with sex offenders isn’t as easy as it seems.

One reason: Federal statistics show that 93 percent of juvenile sexual assault victims know their perpetrator, and parents are often reluctant to take a relative or friend to trial.

Analysis: Many in child-sex cases serve no time - Houston Chronicle

In MY opinion, ANYONE convicted of child rape, or pedophilia should be put to death, one strike and you’re out…

Look at that sick freak up in Seattle, Jack McClellan, he has a ‘how to’ blog on where to find little girls, and he has openly admitted that “If it weren’t illegal, I’d have sex with girls as young as 3 years old…”

I make NO apology in saying this, anyone that would do something like that doesn’t deserve to draw another breath…

It doesn’t matter if it’s a family member or a total stranger, these MONSTERS have got to be removed from society, some guy made a few sick comment in the comment section of the Houston Chronicle article saying that in some cases it has to be the child’s fault, and that is the statement of either a pedophile or a pedophile in waiting, no SANE person would make such a statement…

Our children are the most valuable natural resource on this planet, and they are the most innocent among us, we MUST protect them from the pedofreaks and their supporters…

Having worked Child Abuse, I can tell from many personal experiences what a devastating blow this kind of crime has on literally everyone across the board. And in terms of application, TM, California state law, for example, makes a clear delineation between persons 14 and below, then 14 and above. Those are generally two entirely separate categories with two entirely separate sets of circumstances. Abusers are “ageists” and, once children pass out of their age-range preset, they are mostly uninterested.

That written, I would go for something like Two Strikes. Three is simply one TOO many. If you’re looking for a predilection, two will indicate.

I received an email from this TM asking me to delete their comment, I must have done so just before you posted BZ, sorry…

And I still think a .40 behind the ear would put an end to ANY pedophiles dreams of molestation, and never to be a predator again…

Fred, I would agree with you except for one point. I know a person sitting in jail right now accused of doing something I would guarantee didn’t happen to his daughter. This little girl he devoted so much of his time to, turned on him and reported unmentionable deeds to child services just to get out of grounding and punishment. She even got herself placed in the very house her father refused to allow her to go back too.
He has nothing and can afford no legal help. His daughter has been having the time of her life. State money, free car, seventeen and wild.

Here he sits assumed guilty of the most horrible acts. He is a retired Navy Seal and one hell of a man. His life will be marked forever. I wish I could do more to help him.
