Iraq Leader Warns Iran on Attacks Abroad

April 29th, 2007 . by TexasFred

BAGHDAD (AP) - Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki told an Iranian envoy Sunday that the persistent attacks in Iraq are also a threat abroad, a pointed warning amid U.S. accusations that the government in Tehran is stoking the violence by supporting Shiite militias.

That may be construed as a pointed warning in some circles but seriously, what is al-Maliki going to do other than talk and beg?? Without the USA backing him, al-Maliki is a toothless tiger and Iran is fully aware of that fact…

Al-Maliki met with top Iranian envoy Ali Larijani in Baghdad as Iran agreed to attend a major U.S.-backed regional conference on Iraq set for this week in Egypt, raising hopes that bringing Iraq’s neighbors together will help stabilize the country.

U.S. backed talks may be the way to settle this but I’m not so sure, history points out, quite clearly, the Arabs and Persians and most other people of that region of the world have been killing each other for centuries, over the most minor insult, and full blown tribal and sectarian wars are fought over a difference of opinion in religious interpretation, what makes us so confident that we can change centuries of tribal aggression with some talks?? Until there is a change in attitude by the Muslims, nothing else will change…

“Terrorist operations targeting Iraq will affect all countries in the world that are supposed to be supporting the Iraqi government in its war against terrorism,” al-Maliki said in a statement issued by his office, adding that the prime minister also thanked Iran for agreeing to participate in this week’s conference in Sharm el-Sheik.

al-Maliki is shooting in the dark, he’s hoping his brethren will rally to his side if he makes an impassioned plea for unity and support, we ALL know where the terrorists and insurgents come from and we ALL know why they have descended upon Iraq, no one in the Islamic world wants to see a viable, working democracy in play in Iraq, that is a sign of defeat as far as the Muslims are concerned and that is the very reason the insurgents and terrorists are fighting so hard to turn the tide of the Iraqi people themselves…

Larijani said that “countries that want security and stability in the region have no choice but to support Iraq’s elected government.”

And the gentleman from Iran may well be correct but until Iran itself steps up and makes serious peace overture, no one is going to take his rhetoric seriously…

The bottom line for Iran is put up, shut up and play by the rules, otherwise, they aren’t part of the solution, they are part of the problem

Trust Iran to be a part of the solution? Oh yeah. as long as the solution is sharia law in Iraq, and a total Islamic state like Iran. THAT would be a great thing for the world.

    Such a simple solution…

You bomb them, us or anyone else and Mecca will be removed, a Muhommad T-Shirt Shop will be built in it’s place - final warning.
