Pentagon: Taliban a resilient force in Afghanistan
June 27th, 2008 . by TexasFredWASHINGTON (AP) - The Taliban has regrouped after its initial fall from power in Afghanistan and the pace of its attacks is likely to increase this year, according to a Pentagon report that offers a dim view of progress in the nearly seven-year-old war.
Noting that insurgent violence has climbed, the report said that despite U.S. and coalition efforts to capture and kill key leaders, the Taliban is likely to “maintain or even increase the scope and pace of its terrorist attacks and bombings in 2008.”
The Taliban, it said, has “coalesced into a resilient insurgency.”
At the same time, the Afghan Army and national police are progressing slowly and still lack the trainers they need.

Pentagon: Taliban a resilient force in Afghanistan
We had the Taliban on the run, we had them all but defeated, we were doing one hell of a job in Afghanistan, and that is exactly where we needed to be, and our wonderful troops were kicking ass and taking names, and then what happens?
Gooooooooooddddd Morning Baghdad!
We draw down our forces, we lose focus on the battle where the battle really was, and check it out, now our troops have to go in for a *do over*, a damned *do over*, all because our ADD president had to rush off to Iraq to vindicate *Daddy* and his good name.
You know the old adage, you get what you pay for? Well, you get the government you elect too, and come November, no matter which one of the liberal Democrats running gets elected, it’s going to only get worse for America, it’s just a question of how much worse and how fast.
And as we continue to slip into the abyss that the radical Islamics are hoping we do, our money is worth less on foreign markets, we lose even more respect in the eyes of the world, our oil resources are dwindling, OPEC has us in a choke hold, the Dems still have their heads buried in their asses and refuse to open up drilling anywhere in the USA and America is rapidly falling from any kind of position of power.
McCain will be a continuation of the Bush debacle, Obama will be the death of America, and the Conservatives of this nation tried our very best to guide the American voters to REAL Conservative leadership.
As I said, we’ll have the government that we elect, and it’s killing us.
