Obama calling for better security for computers

Obama calling for better security for computers

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama is calling digital security a top priority, whether it’s guarding the computer systems that keep the lights on in the city and direct airliners to the right runway or those protecting customers who pay their bills online.

To oversee an enhanced security system for the nation’s computer networks, Obama is creating a “cyber czar” as part of a long-awaited plan stemming from a review he ordered shortly after taking office.

On Friday, Obama is expected to lay out broad goals for dealing with cyber threats while depicting the U.S. as a digital nation that needs to provide the education required to keep pace with technology and attract and retain a cyber-savvy work force. He also is expected to call for a new education campaign to raise public awareness of the challenges and threats related to cyber security.

The review, however, will not dictate how the government or private industry should tighten digital defenses. Critics say the cyber czar will not have sufficient budgetary and policy-making authority over securing computer systems and spending.

OK, I am not going into instant *They are out to get us* mode, I don’t have to. The federal government KNOWS what WE say on our blogs. The know what we are communicating between one another in our emails. It’s already a done deal, Obama just wants MORE of it! And there is not too terribly much we can do about it, other than to keep on telling it like it is and let Obama and Company know, we’re NOT backing down and we DO have you outnumbered.

To bring up another matter. Look closely at this picture. It is taken from the original story.

Look at his face, an expression of total disgust, disdain, whatever it may be, the eyes nearly closed so he doesn’t actually have to look at the Marine. He has NO respect for that Marine, he is only going through the motions, and it pains him greatly to do so. It is MY opinion that Obama is giving a very weak salute simply because he saw George Bush return salutes. George Bush was a military officer, a salute means something to him. Obama HATES the military, he never was a member OF the military and his displeasure is obvious! OK, I got that out of my system.

Back on topic: Obama wants to strengthen the security of the web?? Obama wants to eventually exercise control over everything ON the web. So, how about we try this? Better security on our southern border too? Oh, wait, that won’t give Obama any real control over the American people and it may anger some of his future voting base.

Make no mistake about it, this individual never does anything without an ulterior motive, and now they can go ahead and place me on that Domestic Terrorists watch list!

NAACP Branch Readies for Confederate Flag Fight

NAACP Branch Readies for Confederate Flag Fight

A flag fight is brewing in southern Florida.

Members of the Miami-Dade branch of the NAACP want the Confederate flag banned from the Homestead-Miami Motor Speedway, and they will meet Thursday to decide whether to boycott a NASCAR race slated there for November.

Debra Toomer, the branch’s chairwoman of press and publicity, said a planning session has been scheduled to decide on a course of action regarding the display of the flag at the Nov. 20-22 event, as well as its presence at city-sponsored events like last year’s Veterans Day parade.

“The concern is there,” Toomer said of Confederate flags. She declined to comment further before the meeting.

But officials at NASCAR and the raceway say there’s little they can do to prevent spectators from displaying or waving the Confederate flag.

NASCAR spokesman Ramsey Poston told FOXNews.com that NASCAR’s “longstanding policy” prohibits displays of the Confederate flag on its cars, uniforms, licensed merchandise or in advertisements.

I have a very special, and personal message for ALL the members of the NAACP, La Raza, ACORN and any other bunch of moonbats that have a problem with the Flag of the Confederacy, and it’s very similar to the message I am sending to any and all that are offended by the United States flag.

You can all, each and every one of you, collectively or individually, KISS MY AMERICAN REBEL ASS!

Now you people have something else to be offended over!

National security adviser: US safer under Obama

National security adviser: US safer under Obama

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama’s national security adviser laid out a sweeping rebuttal Wednesday to former Vice President Dick Cheney’s charge that America is less safe under the new administration.

Pointing to increases in defense spending, efforts to get out of Iraq and revamp the strategy for Afghanistan, and a broad campaign to repair the U.S. reputation abroad, retired Marine Gen. James Jones said the nation is safer today than it has been. But, he added, no administration is perfect.

“I think that the former vice president knows full well that perfection is an impossible standard,” said Jones, adding that the U.S. can only do everything it can “to keep threats at bay and as far away from our shores as possible.”

In recent speeches, Cheney has condemned Obama for ordering the shutdown of the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and banning certain harsh interrogation methods for suspected terrorists. Overturning those Bush administration programs, he said, has made the country less safe.

You know, sometimes I really get into the commentary. Once in a while there’s nothing left to say, the commentary just writes itself! The U.S. is safer under Obama?

Iran is threatening their nuclear stuff again. North Korea is setting off test nukes, launching missiles, and making threats saying they will attack South Korea and our naval vessels.

And WE are safer under Obama…

Woman Upset After American Flag Taken Down At Work

MANSFIELD (CBS 11 News) Is it okay to show your patriotism at the office?

For one Arlington woman, the answer was “no” after she hung an American flag in her office just before the Memorial Day weekend.

Debbie McLucas is one of four hospital supervisors at Kindred Hospital in Mansfield. Last week, she hung a three-by-five foot American flag in the office she shares with the other supervisors.

When McLucas came to work Friday, her boss told her another supervisor had found her flag offensive. “I was just totally speechless. I was like, ‘You’re kidding me,’” McLucas said.

McLucas’ husband and sons are former military men. Her daughter is currently serving in Iraq as a combat medic.

OK, MY very 1st reaction was, ‘What?? You have got to be kidding me. An AFRICAN supervisor, in an American hospital, in TEXAS, and that supervisor is offended by the United States flag being displayed in an American citizens office?’, I went into instant ANGER mode!

I was about to go into instant BLAST-OFF mode and then the 1st rule of journalism hit me like a hammer, VERIFY! So, I called Kindred Hospital in Mansfield, Texas and talked to Rhonda Williams, administrator, and she informed me that this situation has been resolved. She was kind enough to send me the press release they have just sent to the MSM. Here is a copy of that press release:

May 27, 2009

Kindred Hospital Mansfield has a great deal of appreciation for the service that many of our employees and their families have given to the country. We honor our veterans and active military through a variety of benefits and service programs. This was an isolated incident between two employees that we are working to resolve amicably. Both employees have family members who have served in the military. The disagreement was over the size of the flag and not what it symbolized. We have invited the employee to put the flag back up. We share their love of country and we appreciate the service of their family members as well as all members of the armed forces.

Rhonda Williams
Kindred Hospital Administrator

And this is the information for the hospital in Mansfield, Texas.

I have to applaud Kindred Hospitals and their administration staff for getting involved and bringing this highly volatile situation to a reasonable conclusion!
