Official: 72 found dead in Mexico may be migrants

MEXICO CITY – A survivor has told police that 72 people found dead at a ranch near the Mexican border with Texas were migrants kidnapped by an armed group, a federal official said Wednesday.

The bodies of 58 men and 14 women were discovered Tuesday when Marines manning a checkpoint on a highway in the northern state of Tamaulipas were approached by a wounded man who said he had been attacked by gang gunmen at a nearby ranch.

A federal official said that man had identified himself an illegal migrant. The man said he and other migrants had been kidnapped by an armed group and taken to the ranch in San Fernando, a town about 100 miles (160 kilometers) south of Brownsville, Texas, according to the federal official, who had access to the investigation. He spoke on condition of anonymity because the was not authorized to speak publicly about the case.

The official said police believe the migrants were mostly from Central America — a population that has been increasingly targeted by drug gangs who demand money from U.S.-bound foreigners or who kidnap them to claim ransoms from relatives in the United States or their home countries.

It’s all about perception.

Perception – noun
1. the act or faculty of apprehending by means of the senses or of the mind; cognition; understanding.
2. immediate or intuitive recognition or appreciation, as of moral, psychological, or aesthetic qualities; insight; intuition; discernment: an artist of rare perception.
3. the result or product of perceiving, as distinguished from the act of perceiving; percept.
4. Psychology . a single unified awareness derived from sensory processes while a stimulus is present.
5. Law . the taking into possession of rents, crops, profits, etc.

It’s ALL in how you look at it! :P

How many times have we heard those that support and defend the ILLEGALS that are flooding this nation and helping to further tank our economy say, “But they’re only seeking jobs and a new homeland. They only want to do the jobs that Americans won’t do.”

Well, it looks like the cartels are, in a ’roundabout way’, actually DOING the job that Americans won’t do. They are keeping a great many potential ILLEGALS out of the USA.

I can almost hear the cries of racist and bigot coming from Long Beach…

Investigators have not determined who was behind the massacre, but the federal official noted that the area is controlled by the Zetas drug cartel, which has diversified into kidnapping migrants.

I would say that Los Zetas would be an excellent place to start looking for suspects.

The scale of the massacre of migrants appeared to be unprecedented even by the gruesome standards of Mexican drug cartels.

Obviously, the cartels are stepping up their efforts to control their territory and instill fear in ANY that dare to cross paths with them. I include the Mexican government in that too. The cartels want the government to fear them, and indeed, I believe they do.

The newspaper Reforma, citing a police report, said that that the migrants were trying to reach the U.S. border and were killed when they refused to pay extortion fees demanded by the armed group. Reforma said the survivor was from Ecuador. The federal officials could not immediately confirm those details.

I don’t suppose it matters where they are from, they were headed to the USA, and were, pardon the pun, dead set on entering OUR nation illegally.

The Navy said it dispatched aircraft to check out the man’s report and when the gunmen saw the marines, they opened fire and tried to flee in a convoy of vehicles. One marine and three of the suspects were killed in the shootout.

Mexico: Prison guards let killers out, lent guns

Mexico: Prison guards let killers out, lent guns

MEXICO CITY — Guards and officials at a prison in northern Mexico allegedly let inmates out, lent them guns and sent them off in official vehicles to carry out drug-related killings, including the massacre of 17 people last week, prosecutors said Sunday.

After carrying out the killings the inmates would return to their cells, the Attorney General’s Office said in a revelation that was shocking even for a country wearied by years of drug violence and corruption.

“According to witnesses, the inmates were allowed to leave with authorization of the prison director … to carry out instructions for revenge attacks using official vehicles and using guards’ weapons for executions,” office spokesman Ricardo Najera said at a news conference.

The director of the prison in Gomez Palacio in Durango state and three other officials were placed under a form of house arrest pending further investigation. No charges have yet been filed.

These are civil servants working for the Mexican government. The SAME government that Barack Hussein Obama fawned over, the SAME government that is presided over by a man that stood on the floor of OUR Congress and denigrated Arizona, it’s push for REAL immigration reforms, and America in general, Felipe Calderon.

I am not an alarmist, I am a truth teller.

I have a lot of very strong ideas and attitudes concerning Mexico, the folks that run the place, as well as the ILLEGALS that filter through there and into our nation and economy, but I reserve my most vehement contempt for the government of this United States of America and those in power in Washington, D.C., from the President right down to every Senator and Congressman!

Their utter lack of doing ANYTHING to truly protect this nation from the SCUM that lies just below our southern border, or that which has seeped into this nation and brings us down to Third World status is what angers me the most. That, and the continued stupidity of the Obama Regime as they continually try to foist Calderon off on Americans as a caring, benevolent leader and ally.

Prosecutors said the prison-based hit squad is suspected in three mass shootings, including the July 18 attack on a party in the city of Torreon, which is near Gomez Palacio. In that incident, gunmen fired indiscriminately into a crowd of mainly young people in a rented hall, killing 17 people, including women.

The situation in Mexico brings many thoughts to mind, first and foremost for me being the utter corruption that runs rampant throughout the entire nation.

All levels of Mexican government, the military, Los Federales, Los Policia and politicians, ALL of them are totally corrupt, with a hand out for any form of graft they can find. And Obama seems to be OK with that, from a country he calls a strong ally and friend.

Over the weekend there was a story that went viral on the web, Ranches had been invaded in Texas. The story has so far turned out to be totally false.

There have been a few reasonable blog sites that discredited the story right from the start, this blog was one of them, because, you see, I DO have great resources here in Texas and I was shocked that those sources couldn’t confirm an INVASION. :?

There IS a possibility that a story such as this could actually come to fruition in the near future, a very distinct and believeable possibility, given the weak border defenses we have with Mexico. What this bogus story DID do is point out the possibility of armed invasion as a real threat.

Given the propensity of the Mexican government, the Cartels and many Mexican citizens to break laws, OUR LAWS, and given the obvious lack of *give a damn* exhibited by the Obama regime, it only stands to reason that a corrupt nation such as Mexico could, and probably WILL spawn an armed invasion across our border.

What do you suppose the reaction from the Obama regime would be?

Mexico has long had a problem with investigating crimes, catching criminals and convicting people. Reports estimate less than 2 percent of crimes in Mexico result in prison sentences. But Sunday’s revelation suggests that even putting cartel gunmen in prison may not prevent them from continuing to commit crimes.

West Texas town bolsters security as Mexican deaths continue

West Texas town bolsters security as Mexican deaths continue

FORT HANCOCK - They can’t keep burying the bodies here. Not just because the small cemetery in this remote desert town can’t handle the volume - because somebody could get killed.

On a still, sunny spring morning in Fort Hancock, about 60 miles east of El Paso, two elderly Hispanic men sit on the tailgate of a pickup, surrounded by graves.

Francisco Estrada and Alberto Rosales munch on pieces of fruit, legs dangling above the dusty earth where many former residents of this rural outpost make their final repose. As caretakers for the Fort Hancock Cemetery, they put in about 20 hours a week. It’s mostly quiet work, meant to occupy their aging minds and bodies.

This spring, though, as the drug war enveloped Fort Hancock’s Mexican sister city, El Porvenir, their stress levels spiked. “What they’re starting over there, they’re going to finish here,” Estrada frets.

I learned a long time ago, you’d better listen to these OLD men, they didn’t get to be that old by being stupid!

I hope you’ll take the time to read the full story that this post is based on. It gives a lot of good information about what the Mexicans are facing and what the people, and the Sheriff of Ft. Hancock are facing. It is an ugly story.

Estrada and Rosales point to white and yellow silk flowers that adorn one of the most recent additions to the cemetery: the resting place of Manuel Morales Lerma, who was shot at his home in El Porvenir. Fearing cartel leaders would next target his family, Morales Lerma’s relatives moved his funeral to Fort Hancock’s tiny cemetery.

I have said, many times, I detest, and have no sympathy for the ILLEGALS that are invading this nation. I still detest the ILLEGAL part. But I can’t help but have at least some sympathy for the innocent victims in Mexico, and there truly are some innocent victims.

They are the victims of a corrupt government, a corrupt federal police force, a corrupt military and a deadly mix of drug cartels that have no regard for human life.

I truly hate what the huge influx of ILLEGALS is doing, and has done to America, but I can see why a hard working and hopefully honest family would come here to escape the corruption and violence of Mexico.

Sadly, they bring with them, much of that crime, violence and corruption.

People here describe the ceremony like a scene out of a spaghetti western. Sheriffs’ deputies from all around came to stand guard. Some mourners hid in the bushes with guns, says Hudspeth County Judge Becky Dean Walker.

It’s not just in remote parts of far west Texas. Texans are faced with dangers from ILLEGALS every day, all over Texas. We carry guns to protect ourselves and our families. I remember a time in Texas when you carried a gun if you were out in the field, in case you ran across a snake. Now, you need heavy weapons if you are out in the country, you never know what kind of drug or invasion operation you’ll run into.

It’s an astonishing death rate. If the pace of killings continues this year, the murder rate could reach 1,600 homicides for every 100,000 people (in New Orleans, the 2009 murder rate was 52 per 100,000, the highest in the nation, according to FBI data).

Cartel leaders have told entire towns to vacate or be decimated. They’ve burned homes and churches and left in their wake residents paralyzed with fear. The aftershocks extend far from the epicenter of the violence, bringing fear and confusion - along with legions of armed guards, and refugees from the bloodbath - to Fort Hancock and other rural Texas border outposts.

So, Texans prepare to protect themselves. It seems that the U.S. government isn’t going to do too much other than talk. The Obama administration loves to talk. And LIE!
