Voter Registration Fraud Uncovered
August 28th, 2010 . by TexasFredEvidence of apparent voter registration irregularities are found in Harris County. Samples of incomplete, inaccurate, or false voter registrations were unveiled by Harris County Voter Registrar Leo Vasquez.
The questionable voter registration applications, collected by a group operating under the name of Houston Votes, included voters that were already registered, applications submitted by the same voters, and applications with incomplete or erroneous information. Harris County Tax Assessor-Collector Leo Vasquez says representatives of Houston Votes assured him that the problems would be corrected, but were not.
“This amounts to over 5-thousand deficient voter registration applications which have inundated our office. Based on this performance pattern, we will be terminating a number of individuals from this volunteer deputy program.”
He says the pattern of the erroneous voter applications is serious.
“We have evidence indicating violations of the Texas election code, falsified documents being submitted to this governmental office, and possible violations of federal election laws.”
Vasquez says he is referring the irregularities along with associated documentation for investigation and possible prosecution to the Texas Secretary of State and the Harris County District Attorney’s Office.
“It is my sincere hope that this episode will bring more attention to the general public about the importance of voter registration. Hopefully, this will also spur legislation on both the federal and state levels, to put more teeth into election fraud penalties.”

Voter Registration Fraud Uncovered
It appears that Houston, we have a problem, may be more than just a catch phrase once again.
I told a fellow blogger the other day, “We get a few things wrong here in Texas, but we get a lot more RIGHT.” Well, I wasn’t taking Houston, and Harris County corruption into account when I made that statement.
I know, there’s going to be some that say, “Fred, ALL areas have corruption.” and you’d be right in that assumption I believe. I’m originally from Louisiana. Louisiana Politics runs Chicago a close 2nd on ways to flaunt corruption, but I think Harris County may have some folks that are just as creative and just as crooked as Chicago and Louisiana combined..
Here’s why I say that.
Fire destroys all Harris County voting machines
Harris County Clerk Beverly Kaufman Friday morning said she is confident of timely, clean elections in November, even after a fire that destroyed the county’s entire inventory of 10,000 electronic voting machines.
Kaufman urged voters to cast their ballots early to help the county cope with a possible shortage of equipment on election day.
“Because I don’t expect to have 10,000 pieces to work with, no matter what we do, I’m sure that we’re going to be putting on a full court press urging people to vote early,” Kaufman said.
Kaufman said she expected that the fire in a county warehouse in the 600 block of Canino, in north Houston, has destroyed $30 million worth of equipment and caused $10 million more in damage to the building.
Kaufman hopes to cobble together a collection of voting machines through loans from other counties and replacement equipment from its vendor, she said. All five members of Commissioners Court contacted her Friday morning to pledge their support in helping her with the resources needed to stage a successful election in which early voting begins in just 52 days, she said.

Normally, I’m not one that goes for conspiracy theories, but c’mon. This is pure coincidence?
