Parents: Slain anchorwoman was sexually assaulted

LITTLE ROCK (AP) — The parents of the television anchorwoman who was beaten to death said Monday there is evidence their daughter also was sexually assaulted, and that she broke her hand fighting her attacker.

Five days after a suspect was arrested in the Oct. 20 beating of KATV anchorwoman Anne Pressly, Guy and Patti Cannady said on NBC’s “Today” that the family still has many questions about the killing.

Guy Cannady said that while the police theory is that Pressly interrupted a random robbery, he isn’t convinced of that.

“Well, it’s just unbelievable that a random robbery like this would involve the brutal slaying of Anne in this way. There just seems to be a lot more to the whole story than just a robbery gone bad,” he said. “I think he could have been a stalker.”

They said there was evidence of sexual assault.

If there is ANYONE that doesn’t believe that we NEED the death penalty in this nation, and if this particular case doesn’t sway you opinion, then there is NO hope for you.

I DO realize that the suspect, Curtis Lavelle Vance, is considered innocent until proven guilty, but I also feel that unless Arkansas has seriously messed up their investigation, Curtis Lavelle Vance WILL be found guilty of murder.

I am not familiar with the law in Arkansas, I don’t know how their murder designations read regarding 1st degree, 2nd degree, manslaughter and so forth but I do know this, Arkansas DOES have the Death Penalty on the books, and it is my most sincere hope that if this animal Vance is found guilty, the state of Arkansas WILL impose that sentence, and not take several years to carry it out!

My most sincere sympathy to the family and friends of Anne Pressly, she was taken from you in the most heinous manner, and ALL decent Americans share in your loss!
