Burnout Happens!

February 26th, 2008 . by TexasFred
What the hell, there’s really nothing outstanding to blog about, Bush is still in the White House, we’re still wasting BILLIONS of U.S. tax dollars in Iraq, Darfur is still a debacle, the U.N. is still useless, Hillary and Obama are still going at each other, McCain is still a shit for brains and I am tired of blogging about it, I am taking the day off, screw it, every blogger in the nation is ranting and raving about the same things, over and over and over and quite frankly, I refuse to sound like some shrill bitch that’s got a lot of Hot Air and little else…

Maybe tomorrow I’ll feel more like getting back into the fray but if not, to hell with it, LIFE, real LIFE, does go on and right now it’s calling loudly…

Would love to but my Son, Daughter in Law, 1 year old grand son and the oldest of my twin girls are coming up Thur, Fri, Sat and Sun… :D

We’re going to have a great time, gonna go eat Chinese food, hit the gun range and shoot my sons new XD-45 and M-4, raise all kinds of hell, drink, BBQ and who knows what…

Ya know, my Dad was BIG into fly fishing, me, I’m into bass fishing, love to take on a 6 or 7 pounder on a light setup and see what happens…

And we do some seriously awesome bass fishing here in Texas…

When we were still living in the country house out in Van Zandt county we had 15 acres and about a 3 acre pond, well a few years ago one of my buddies that IS a professional bass fisherman, he’s on the Skeeter Bass Team, he was in town for the tourney at Lake Fork, well, 1st morning of the tourney just over 800 teams checked in that Friday AM, by noon Saturday, over 400 teams had checked out, the lake was DEAD, they were weighing in with 3 pound fish…

So he and his wife come out to our place, park his new 3/4 ton Ford P/U and Skeeter Bass Rig in front of my water well, and we go out to my pond to do a few casts with some of his new bass rig stuff…

James, my buddy, casts about 3 times and nails something so he sets the hook and starts reeling it in…

Well, turns out to be a 5 pound bass…

Now my buddy is damn near in tears, I got a pic of him ‘kissing his BASS’ before he turned it loose, well, he looks at me with a tear in his eye and says, “Fred, THIS bass over on Lake Fork right now, would be worth $10k and a new bass rig, THIS SOB would be the winning fish… ”

I looked him in the eye, and told him, “Drop the SOB in the live well and let’s got back to the lake from one of the back water launches, I can use $10K and a new bass boat…”

We didn’t, but I wish that fish had been in Lake Fork…

I know how you feel. Oh yeah. I feel kinda stuck in a rut. I still got some snow this weekend, then it rained in sheets on Sunday. And I’ve got bronchitis. Yippee. One thing that pissed me off: the Sacramento FM station that I could actually pick up in the mountains — where I could listen to Hugh Hewitt, Dennis Prager, Dennis Miller and some of my other favorites — got changed into a friggin’ MEXICAN station.

What a great story Fred, fishing stories are always the best.

We don’t have to go this week-end, we can go anytime. Maybe someday you can take me Bass Fishing and I’ll take you Fly-Fishing, what great stories we could tell, what fun we would have.

I tell you what, maybe we can go on Novemeber 4th, beats the Hell out of Voting, LMAO!

Your so right, this (blogging) ain’t living. Holding your 1 year old grandson is living. Enjoy each and every minute with him and your family.

My goal is to put one peice a week up on my blog. I usually beat it but it seems like a reasonable goal given my current commitments.
I still read about 20 different new sites a day. It takes a bit to set me off, but when it happens you can read about it on my blog, because Some Things Just Need To Be Said.

Fred, you enjoy the time off. Your first reply to Ranando was pretty good reading by itself. One of those as a post once in a while might keep the blood pressure down and the enjoyment level up.

Well, it would keep MY enjoyment level up, and we all know that you’re here for our enjoyment!

    :D

A big earthquake with the strength of 8.1 on the Richter scale hits Mexico .

Two million Mexicans have died and over a million are injured.

The country is totally ruined and the government doesn’t know where to start and is asking for help to rebuild. The rest of the world is in shock.

Canada is sending troopers to help the Mexican army control the riots. Saudi Arabia is sending oil.

Other Latin American countries are sending supplies.
The European community (except France ) is sending food and money.

The United States , not to be outdone, is sending two million Mexicans to replace the dead ones.

    God bless America !!!!

Hope you enjoyed your day off and I fully agree - the same crap every day — I have been taking a few days off here and there just to clear my brain! I don’t read anything political, the only thing “trucking” is the sound of the diesel engine taking me to someplace warm (Florida is nice this evening) and watch The X-Files or Star Trek (Have both series on DVD) all day…..

    Gads! After all these years!

A Three pound Small-mouth is a hell of a fight on light fly tackle! It, is pure fun.

I piss off the weird ones all the time. It’s my blog… I do politics, then economics, then outdoors, etc. I respond when the hell I get back to them.

God Bless each and all. My comp is almost all the way back up, and running.
