California’s top court legalizes gay marriage

May 15th, 2008 . by TexasFred

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - California’s Supreme Court declared gay couples in the nation’s biggest state can marry - a monumental but perhaps short-lived victory for the gay rights movement Thursday that was greeted with tears, hugs, kisses and at least one instant proposal of matrimony.

Same-sex couples could tie the knot in as little as a month. But the window could close soon after - religious and social conservatives are pressing to put a constitutional amendment on the ballot in November that would undo the Supreme Court ruling and ban gay marriage.

“Essentially, this boils down to love. We love each other. We now have equal rights under the law,” declared a jubilant Robin Tyler, a plaintiff in the case along with her partner. She added: “We’re going to get married. No Tupperware, please.”

A crowd of people raised their fists in triumph inside City Hall, and people wrapped themselves in the rainbow-colored gay-pride flag outside the courthouse. In the Castro, the historic center of the gay community in San Francisco, Tim Oviatt wept as he watched the news on TV.

I have very little to say in regards to this atrocious ruling from the California Supreme Court, I am not a big Bible thumper but I know what the Bible says about homosexuality and the Bible is God’s word, and as far as I am concerned, God has spoken…

Lev 18:22-23 “You shall not lie with a male as one lies with a female; it is an abomination.”

Lev 20:13 “If there is a man who lies with a male as those who lie with a woman, both of them have committed a detestable act; they shall surely be put to death.”

1 Cor 6:9 “Or do you not know that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived; neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor homosexuals”

1 Tim 1:9-10 “realizing the fact that (civil) law is not made for a righteous man, but for those who are lawless and rebellious, for the ungodly and sinners, for the unholy and profane, for those who kill their fathers or mothers, for murderers and immoral men and homosexuals and kidnappers and liars and perjurers”

Rom 1:26-27 “For this reason God gave them over to degrading passions; for their women exchanged the natural function for that which is unnatural, and in the same way also the men abandoned the natural function of the woman and burned in their desire toward one another, men with men committing indecent acts and receiving in their own persons the due penalty of their error.”

I know there are some good and decent people in California, and it’s a real shame that their wishes have been ignored by their judges, and it’s an even bigger shame that they have to suffer through the indignation that this law will bring to the people of California…

Don’t be surprised if the wrath of God is brought down on California either, and if you have a problem with this posting, take it up with God, it’s HIS law, I’m just quoting from His word…

I am not religious, and in my opinion this is a slap in the face of all the great men and woman who built this country!

This country has lost its judaeo christian ways, and I wish we could find it. I do not know how far we have to go back, but there are some serious things that are just broke.

To keep my comments on track, I do not care what two consenting adults do in the privacy of their home; AFAIK the social/tax benefits marriage where put in place to support the nuclear family. Where a parent (don’t care which) goes to work to support the other and the children.

Now some would argue that is still the case with a same-sex relationship, but I fear I am getting to traditional for that.

I really wonder if enough people in this country are going to get sick of the tail wagging the dog and vote people in to stop the mess. France and Italy seem to be taking steps in the right direction, how far will we have to fall before we can follow suit.

And that echos my sentiments exactly…

What 2 grown people do alone in private is their business but when it’s thrust into our faces in this manner, that’s where I draw the line…

And even if I don’t care what they do or don’t do, they don’t have to answer to me, but if God is everything we have been taught, there will be a day of reckoning…

And it’s gonna take a lot of people by surprise…

As does California, so goes the rest of the nation.

You`re right, God calls it an abomination. To me that is pretty strong language.
The other day I was checking out at Petsmart, and made a comment about something being ” gay “. I think it was that if I put a pink collar on my dog, that would be gay, anyway.Everyone close enough to hear it was ” taken back ” by my comment. In other words… shhhh don`t say stuff like that, someone might be offended.
Why are they offended by a comment about being gay ? Could it be a little guilt deep down in there somewhere ? Probably.

Not only is God’s word clear on the issue, it logically makes no sense. There is definitely a design issue involved. Oh, but the politically correct lefties and misguided individuals in this country don’t believe in design either.

Man GETS AWAY with nothing. Eventually, we will be called upon to pay for our misdeeds. If not in this life, certainly in the next. I would refer our friends to one single piece of scripture from the book of Hebrews in the New Testament:

“It is appointed unto man once to die… and after death… the judgement…”

I would have thought that with all the volcanoes popping their corks around the globe these days, and with California sitting, as it does on the so-called “Ring of Fire”, it would have avoided such blasphemy. It would seem I have granted them too much credit for having common sense.

    God will not be mocked!
