Hurricane Gustav: Just to let folks know…

September 1st, 2008 . by TexasFred

I am not posting right now, politics is far from my mind today.

My daughters and grands are OUT of south Louisiana, they are safe with family in north Louisiana right now and I am in contact with them several times a day.

My Son and his National Guard contingent, the 256th BCT La. Army National Guard, are at the NOLA Airport in Kenner, they are getting NO recent news or reports, other than rumors, and I am sending them as much info straight from the news wires as I possibly can.

It appears that my son and some of his herd will be on patrol tonight, backing up local law enforcement officers. As most of you know, my son is a SGT in the Guard and has a 1 year combat tour to Iraq under his belt already. He is also a Sheriffs Deputy, that is his full time job, has been for the last 2 years, so, he is in his element and doing his job with some very well trained cohorts.

I don’t mean to be cutting anyone short on email or IM response right now but my Son and his Guard Unit are 1st and foremost in my mind and until this is ALL over, they will get the bulk of my time, attention and efforts. I will update this post as time allows.

Thanks to all that have messaged and emailed, I can’t answer all of you right now, I am just too busy, I hope you all understand. Please keep ALL of the residents of the Gulf Coast in your prayers, and the 1st responders that are out there doing their best to keep them safe.

Sincerely, TexasFred

EDIT TO ADD: P.S. Looks like we’re not gonna have to water the lawn this week. :?
