Report: Illegal immigrant minors mistreated by US

DALLAS (AP) - Federal authorities have compromised the rights and safety of some unaccompanied illegal immigrant children they have detained, and inadequate government guidelines are partly to blame, according to a Texas-based research group.

Many children appeared before immigration judges without legal representation, some were transported home in shackles or cages, and the medical needs of some were ignored, according to a report released Thursday by the Center for Public Policy Priorities, a nonprofit think tank.

“There’s no consistent policy. There’s nobody who’s responsible for these kids, in looking out for their safety,” report author Amy Thompson said. “It’s being handled in ad hoc fashion.”

The Department of Homeland Security, which oversees immigration and border enforcement, disputes the center’s findings.

“DHS and its component agencies treat all minors, including unaccompanied alien children, with dignity, respect and special concern for their particular vulnerabilities,” spokeswoman Laura Keehner said in a statement Thursday evening.

Report: Illegal immigrant minors mistreated by US

Get ready for it Conservative America, it is coming just as surely as you are reading this story!

George W. Bush, nearly ALL the Dems and far too many so-called Repubs tried to ram AMNESTY for ILLEGALS down our throats a while back but folks like us launched a huge campaign of phone calls, emails, snail mail, whatever it took, and we got it stopped. We ALL worked together and we accomplished the feat of turning the wants of the president and many legislators around and we got this travesty stopped.

It won’t happen again, not anytime in the near future.

We are about to be saddled with the most liberal/leftist president in the history of this nation, and a Dem/libber controlled House and Senate. They are going to give these *poor immigrants* more rights and benefits than WE have. And who do you think is going to be paying for it?? Yeah, that’s right, you and me!

Until 2 years ago our RINO president had a RINO majority in the House and Senate and he still couldn’t find his ass with both hands and a set of directions. Don’t for one minute believe that Obama will be so challenged. He will take FULL advantage of his Dem/libber majority and use it to the fullest extent when it comes to matter such as ILLEGALS in America, they will NOT be ILLEGALS for too much longer.

Obama will have the support of asshat RINOs like John McCain, Kay Bailey Hutchison and the like, RINOs and socialists, that is what the Republican party has become, and we can expect nothing from 90% of what is left of the Repubs in Washington! And to be even more honest, even if McCain would have become POTUS, this would still be the likely outcome, with a Dem majority in Congress, McCain would have been comfortably within his element, he is, after all, the biggest RINO, FAUX Republican and anti-Conservative, anti-guns, pandering LIAR that has ever been foisted off on the American people. And a huge number of supposedly intelligent people fell FOR that too!

The debacle that America is about to become would happen regardless of which party won, simply because there is NO real difference between the 2 parties, and the Bush administration was as far from being a REAL Conservative administration as one could ever imagine, that is the precise cause of our current maladies.

There is a bright side though, at least for some people. The *poor immigrant* that is only trying to make a better life for himself and his family will soon have that better life, at OUR expense, as OUR lives spiral downward because OF it!

Fred, I’m sorry to say that I believe that aspect is only the tip of the fiscal iceberg; that’s only ONE issue where we’ll be tapped senseless budgetarily. There are oh-so-many-more.

As you know, I try to be as positive as possible under the circumstances. Certainly our nation has survived any number of political asshats. These days, though, because the paradigm of the electorate has so changed, I am beginning to actually have my doubts. So many of this nation’s people have their hands out for the Free Cheese. There are more takers and fewer givers. It seems to be we are actually closer to an equilibrium regards Takers and Givers and that, dear sir, is a truly frightening proposition.

When the equilibrium starts to spill the other direction, when the Takers do in fact outnumber the Givers, this nation really WILL be on Hayek’s Road to Serfdom.

So..those unaccompanied illegal minors are supposed to be represented by whom? Are we supposed to pay for their parents or guardians to be shipped from Mexico in order to be represented? Are we supposed to pay for one of our American public servants to represent them?

I think you may be right there Fred - but - considering 85% of Americans blasted their senators and representatives the last time they tried it - unless they ram this through without public knowledge - I think there will still be an uproar of Americans who will try to stop anything that amounts to Amnesty - even for those poor illegal alien unaccompanied minors.

There’s nobody who’s responsible for these kids,

Uhh, how about the parents? Aren’t they, ultimately, responsible for their own kids?

Get the petitions ready, folks - they’re gonna try to pass more amnesty soon…

    Fred
I spent two years working in Hazleton, Pennsylvania, a town that made national news when Mayor Lou Barletta tried to do something abou illegals.
It’s really something when someone who can’t put together a coherent sentence in English can have things done to his car that I wasn’t able to afford.
Maybe it’s just as well I got laid off, they’ll really be running amok now.
    But as Mayor Lou said:
“This fight is far from over.”
    Saddle up folks.

We are experiencing the biggest financial collapse EVER in California, YET not one politician is saying ANYTHING about the 10 BILLION dollars a year it costs to keep allowing the flood of Illegals to feed at the trough of the LEGAL population.

I didn’t fall for anything, I knew when I voted for McCain I was voting for another 4 years of a Bush admin, but I also knew I wasn’t voting for extreme socialism/marxism with a dash of racism.

It took the Roman Empire many hundreds of years to descend into a dictatorship and into economic chaos. Its taken the US just 232 years to reach the same point. We’re FUBAR for sure an the worst is yet to come in regards to illegals, the economy, and the real value of the dollar. Just wait until uncontrolled inflation gets going as more and more money is printed to finance the ‘Marxist Revolution’.

Fred, you’re absolutely right in that they’re not going to listen to us. Shoot, they didn’t listen to us on the Bail Out Bill, why should they on this?

Hmmm, watch GM declare bankruptcy, disband their union contracts, fire former union workers and hire illegals. Think it can’t happen? Talk to the former workers in Kansas meat packing plants.

Well, I am forever the optimist. After all, there is a market for them. Just get a hold of your neighborhood MI 13 gang member, and you can ship those kids off to the Sudan at a profit…

I don’t think it’s right for minors to be treated like that, whatever their legal status is if the facts presented in this story is true.

I also don’t buy the line that illegals are costing us so much. Every study so far that shows that illegal immigrants cost us so much money does NOT take into account the benefits we reap from their cheap labor.

Our system is one that tells all of our children that they must go to college and get their business degree and aspire to work in ivory towers behind a desk. Is this a sustainable model? Who will do the work? How many of the readers on this blog hope for their children to be roofing houses, digging ditches, etc? As a cattle rancher in Texas I must say; Americans are becoming VERY LAZY!! I’ve gone through 6 American workers in the last 3 years and none of them have lasted. My neighbor has had the same illegal Mexican immigrant that whole time and I’ve payed over double to my workers compared to what he pays his. It is getting very hard to find American laborers to do the job regardless of how much I pay them. These illegal immigrants are an asset in my opinion. Have you not noticed just how lazy, selfish, and spoiled our young generations have become? They voted for Obama for fucks sake.

evil, what you wrote reminds me of a saying about 150 years ago in America: Who’ll pick the cotton.

Illegal aliens are costing California 10 billion a year to care for them. Rep Tom Tancredo said Colorado would save almost $3,000,000 in one day if illegals do not access any public services. They may be good for cheap “slave” labor but many of them are now taking high paying jobs and forcing Americans into the streets. You see, they won’t “unionize” or complain about working conditions. That’s why Howard Industries in Mississippi replaced over 600 Americans Citizens with Illegals. Howard Industries is the worlds largest manufacturer of distribution transformers.

Besides, is you neighbor paying the illegals a fair wage? Is he paying Social Security taxes on his illegal laborers? How about disability and unemployment compensation? Do they refer to him as “Master”?

Bob, Evil Furball was a comment maker here a while back, give it time, it gets worse… But there’s a big difference this time, we have better tools and I KNOW how to use em… :P

evilfurby; Care to back up what you say..?

I’ve seen plenty of real studies that end up with illegal aliens being a draw on this country. I also know that after a raid takes place on a work site that “Americans” will not do the work at, the next day there are three plus people applying for those very same jobs at the very same wages.

What kind of rancher are you? A whiner? I know plenty of ranchers that pay well, and have no problem keeping good hands there.

Hell, it is very difficult to find non seasonal employment on those ranches because the people have all been there for so long that they are considered family.

Tell ya what an old cow hand said to me one day: “If it looks like cow shit, and it smells like cow shit, then you step in it while you are stretching wire and slip? Then most likely, it’s bullshit.”

Your post sure look slippery to me…
