ACLU: Louisiana Court Must Take Jesus Picture Down

June 28th, 2007 . by TexasFred

SLIDELL, La. - The American Civil Liberties Union has set a Monday deadline for Slidell City Court officials to remove a portrait of Jesus from the court’s lobby.

The ACLU had set yesterday as the deadline to remove the portrait, which is included in a display that also contains the words, “To know peace, obey these laws.”

Judge Jim Lamz received a letter from the Louisiana A-C-L-U granting the extension until Monday.

Lamz says the organization was trying to strong-arm court officials into a making a quick decision by creating a controversy when no one had ever complained to court officials about the display, and then setting a short, arbitrary deadline for its removal.

The court has asked an expert on constitutional issues to help determine whether the display is against the law.

The dispute began June 20th when the A-C-L-U sent a letter to the court saying the display violates the First Amendment and must come down, or the court could face a lawsuit. Specifically, the organization thinks the display violates the establishment clause, which holds that church and state must remain separate.

Yeah well, God knows we can’t have a picture of Jesus up in the LOBBY of a court.

Oops, I said ‘God knows’, I bet that’s unacceptable too, for the ACLU anyway.

Here’s MY message for the ACLU, this picture isn’t being used to dictate the LAW of the LAND, it’s a picture, and it hurts no one, get over it you Godless bunch of heathens.

The ACLU is a scourge on the American landscape and should be totally abolished, they serve little, if ANY purpose other than to try their very best to force the United States into a position that closely resembles Communism.

I hate doing this…..you know I am right there with you Fred….but….the ACLU did do ONE thing…..they stopped double jeopardy for the military guys….in my time punishment downtown also meant punishment on the base….they stopped that one cold…..right after that is when they turned into a bunch of ASSHATS…circa 1966 give or take…

A lawsuit requires an actual aggrieved party.

The ACLU, as an organization, cannot be an actual aggrieved party.

Do not think for a moment they will foment a prototypical “aggrieved party” and perhaps out of some type of thin air.

As I am wont to say, occasionally: “fuck the ACLU up the ass with a hot piece of rebar.”
