Burris denied seat in US Senate to succeed Obama

WASHINGTON (AP) - Roland Burris announced Tuesday he was rejected for Barack Obama’s Senate seat, in a bizarre rainy-day scene on the Capitol grounds as lawmakers awaited the gaveling of the 111th Congress into session.

Standing amid a huge throng of reporters and television cameras in a cold and steady rain, Burris, 71, declared that he had been informed that “my credentials are not in order and will not be accepted.”

The former Illinois attorney general said he was “not seeking to have any type of confrontation” over taking the seat that he was appointed to by embattled Gov. Rod Blagojevich. But Burris also said he was looking at options for taking the seat.

It was a spectacular demonstration of political gridlock at a time when the Democratic-controlled Congress has been eagerly awaiting Obama’s inauguration while nervously anticipating tense work on a much-discussed stimulus program to steady the faltering economy.

I can’t wait to hear the libber left and their cries of *RACISM*, you know that some of them want to. But wait! It’s not the Republicans or the hated Conservatives that are stopping Burris from taking his seat in the U.S. Senate, it’s the Democrats.

Yeah, I know! Those Democrats, liberal and progressive Democrats. Can you imagine? They actually grew a set and are standing up for what’s right for a change. I hope this doesn’t disrupt the whole Earth, Space and Time Continuum thing!

This isn’t about Roland Burris, and most folks DO realize that. It’s about his appointment being made by a man that is thought by many to be THE most disgusting and corrupt politician in America today, one Gov. Rod Blagojevich.

This isn’t about RACE either, it’s about right and wrong. But I’d be willing to bet serious money that there will be many screaming that Roland Burris wasn’t seated simply because he is a Black man! In fact, I would count on it!

For those of you that are too young to remember the folly of the Jimmy Carter administration, pay attention, pay close attention. This Democratic Congress and Senate, coupled with the imminent swearing in of president elect Barack Hussein Obama, they collectively will make Jimmy Carter look a lot better than even the current Moron in Chief has done.

I’m enjoying watching the Demorats ALREADY begin to self-immolate — and The One has not YET even been inaugurated.

Blagojevich hasn’t done anything any other Democrat in power hasn’t done. Normally a Democrat getting caught like he did wouldn’t amount to a hill of beans but Blago did something different. What Blago did different was that he embarrassed the anointed one, Obama. He put a stain on Obama and Chicago politics and that’s why he’s an outcast with Democrats. Normally his actions would have gotten him a high level appointment.

The wrong of this episode is that the MSM would not shut up about racism if the leader of the Senate were Republican.

    You know it.

    I know it.

But because Harry Reid wears a D the MSM isn’t screaming racism. Even when Reid has been caught declaring to Blago three names of blacks he doesn’t want and two names of non-blacks he would allow the MSM is not calling it racism.

It isn’t that I feel that Burris should have the seat. I just want the double standard to be acknowledged for what it is.

Didn’t take too long to get your wish. From Fox News:

“U.S. Rep. Bobby Rush, D-Ill., one of Burris’ top cheerleaders on Capitol Hill, even accused the Senate leadership of racism. Burris is black and if seated would be the only black member of the U.S. Senate, a distinction Obama once held.

“While they might not be termed racist, their action is racist,” Rush told FOX News. “I think that if Roland Burris hadn’t been an African American, then he would have been allowed to accept the appointment and become a senator.”"

Bobby Rush, liberal Democrat race-baiter from Illinois.

Bobby Rush is a bigger racist than Klan guys are, Rush is nothing more than an idiot…

I heard that tongue-tied moron on FOX News today, he is exactly what his district deserves to have representing them, a MOONBAT!!

There you go again Fred… Insulting Moonbats!

Seriously, Burris may be a decent man. But, he has been inextricably linked with Blago. He might as well run up the white flag…

And no, it has nothing at all to do with race.

Sometimes I feel so lost when it comes to politics.

How this could become a race issue I’m unsure. But you are right someone, some group, will cry racism.

Anyone tied to the Illinois governor can’t possibly be a good fit, I’m thinking. To me it’s like having “scandal” written in big red ink all over it.

Why can’t they just have an election?

Tish, it already HAS become a racial issue, it became RACIST as soon as Bobby Rush opened his foul mouth… The 1st words from HIS mouth were accusations of racism… THAT is how it becomes a *racist* matter, one IDIOT cried *RACISM* and it’s ON!!
