The Myth of 90 Percent: Only a Small Fraction of Guns in Mexico Come From U.S.

The Myth of 90 Percent: Only a Small Fraction of Guns in Mexico Come From U.S.

EXCLUSIVE: You’ve heard this shocking “fact” before — on TV and radio, in newspapers, on the Internet and from the highest politicians in the land: 90 percent of the weapons used to commit crimes in Mexico come from the United States.

- Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said it to reporters on a flight to Mexico City.

- CBS newsman Bob Schieffer referred to it while interviewing President Obama.

- California Sen. Dianne Feinstein said at a Senate hearing: “It is unacceptable to have 90 percent of the guns that are picked up in Mexico and used to shoot judges, police officers and mayors … come from the United States.”

- William Hoover, assistant director for field operations at the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, testified in the House of Representatives that “there is more than enough evidence to indicate that over 90 percent of the firearms that have either been recovered in, or interdicted in transport to Mexico, originated from various sources within the United States.”

There’s just one problem with the 90 percent “statistic” and it’s a big one:

It’s just not true.

In fact, it’s not even close. By all accounts, it’s probably around 17 percent.

What’s true, an ATF spokeswoman told FOXNews.com, in a clarification of the statistic used by her own agency’s assistant director, “is that over 90 percent of the traced firearms originate from the U.S.”

The Myth of 90 Percent: Only a Small Fraction of Guns in Mexico Come From U.S.

Well, well, well! The BATF is lying concerning the numbers. Eric Holder and Company are liars too, using skewed figures in their desire to reinstate the AWB and take guns from the hands of lawful, sane and responsible gun owners. Who’d a thunk it.

I have said it, nearly all gun bloggers have said it, the drug lords in Mexico are NOT going to get their guns and explosive ordinance from the USA when they can buy it, unhindered, on the world market and through black market sources in Central and South America.

This is vindication of the American gun owner. Now we need to watch very closely and see if any other MSM news sources pick up on this, and watch the Attorney General himself. This could set that unstable asshat of on a campaign of vindication, with American gun owners as HIS target.

Thanks to FOXNews and their reporters for this, great work folks, and much needed as well!

Yes I saw the report today on FOX - and I seriously doubt that the MSM will rectify their lies!

I did a cursory search on CNN and PMSNBC, and ……nothing. The only place I’ve seen this is on Fox. Gee. Wonder why? /snark

Yup, you can bet the lying pieces of shit and their worthless rag papers and news shows, WILL NOT retract any of their lies.
I like it, because when they are proven wrong and get caught lying thru their teeth, then that means more and more people see them for what they really are………LYING ASSHOLES!!!!!!! Their TV ratings and newspapers are reflecting that already.

I am shocked - shocked, I tell you - that the Democratic party and their minions in the MSM have used a misleading - misleading, I say - statistic to bolster their stance.

Why, it’s almost as if they have abandoned their ideals of Truth, Justice, and the American Way in their quest to remove all vestiges of freedom from the common citizen!

I am SOOOO disappointed in the current administration and their attempts at socializing, disarming, and cowing the people of this nation that I might just start voting as an independent! Yeah, that’s what I’ll do!

(OK, now that I’ve taken the wind out of the trolls’ sails, let’s get back to point here - that being that the 2A is going to remain under constant attack since the Weasels In Charge have pretty much taken the 1A and undermined it; next will be 4, 5, and 10. We really gotta stop this, people. Exercise your 2A rights while you still have them, and remember - never let them know how well armed you are or how well trained your dogs are!)

By the way, in a banner article in the Arizona Republic (no link, for some reason the story is not in their online archives that I could find?!?) they had a picture of all the weapons that are “coming from the US in large numbers” - including grenade launchers and RPGs (available at Cabela’s, I guess - I haven’t been in there yet) - and I’ve been wondering why the cartels were stupid enough to pay top dollar for stuff they can get on the black market for a fraction of the price…

…but hey, that’s just me thinkin’ out loud…

Cary, don’t let this get out, OK?? It’s pretty Op/Sec, but if ya go see the guy named *Joe*, in the back of the Gun Show, tell him *Slim* sent you, they’ll take you to the guy named Harvey… Harvey has the connection to a guy named Guido, Guido is the guy with the grenades…

But don’t let em know that I told you this… :?

Speaking of guns and ammo, this article about ammo sales is pretty interesting. Best buy some while you can.

Just another libtard excuse to take away our rights. I knew Obama would be bad, but even I didn’t expect so much, so fast.

Mexico reports arrest of major drug suspect

The announcement came hours before U.S. Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano (LIAR) and U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder (BIGGER LIAR) met with Mexican Attorney General Eduardo Medina-Mora and Interior Minister Fernando Gomez-Mont in Cuernavaca. They were aiming at ways to stop arms smuggling across the border as well as new strategies for fighting the cartels that have fueled violence in both countries.

I can’t wait to hear the lies and spin out of the mouths of these lying sons a bitches… There is some serious governmental, read: Obama and Holder, bullshit afoot, and it ALL points to the disarming of the honest, sane and responsible American gun owner!!

P.S. Bold LIAR part is MINE…

And so the overarching questions (NEVER to be aksed by OUR MEDIA or our GOVERNMENT) are:

Of ALL the illegal weapons found, encountered or recovered by the Mexican military or law enforcement:

    1. What’s the total number?
    2. Of that number, how many are “traceable”?
    3. Of the “traceable” weapons, how many are traced to the US?
    4. How many are traced to MEXICO?
    5. How many are traced to other countries?

Mexico has one of THE most stringest series of gun possession laws, by the way. You can see how effective they are. . .

Go FIGURE! Had it been a Republican that said it, they would be forced out of office. Since the Democrats do and say as they please, it doe not surprise me one bit. So I guess now the Halfrican administration will have to find something else to blame on President Bush.

    LIARS FIGURE,,,,FIGURES DON’T LIE.

    Very pertinent here.
The Libs always blame someone’s else’s guns is causing the problems.

When these above politicians find out the real truth, they will never correct their erroneous prior statements.

Just keep the real answers handy for the next time they repeat their lies, to gain emotion.

After extensive shopping around at gun shows, local gunshops, Cabelas, and BassPro, and doing some serious price comparisons, I have discovered the following:

Cabelas has the best prices for full-auto MP-5s.

BassPro has a great sale on RPGs. Almost out of stock on this item. Must be run on ‘em. If you want one, better move fast.

The last gunshow did have a price war going on for both grenades and anti-tank missiles.

Must be a volume thing, ’cause all the local gunshops couldn’t compete. However, one did have some good prices on sawed-off shotguns, suppressors, and even a couple of land mines.

Boy, all this shopping around sure does tucker a fella out. But, feel good now that I’m all stocked up. Had to mortgage my house to do it though. Shucks, and i just had it payed off.

What…you guys don’t believe me? Well if Hitlary says its true it must be ….right? …….Right? …. RIGHT?…….(the sound of wind, crickets and tree frogs chirping with an “ol ranch dog barking in the distance)

“The Myth of 90 per cent” is fascinating. Once agin it shows that my representatives and government lie to me.

We’re now being told that the violence at the border is spilling over into the US. What is the source of the weapons coming into the US? Are 90% sourced in the US?
