Cornyn won’t reduce expensive travel tab

DALLAS – Sen. John Cornyn has earned a new reputation. It’s one he doesn’t brag about, but isn’t ashamed to admit.

He’s now known as the U.S. Senate’s biggest spender on domestic travel, according to official travel records found in The Report of the Secretary of the Senate.

“We’re conscious of those costs,” Cornyn said. “We try to keep them to a minimum. But, the fact of the matter is if you represent a big state like Texas and you’re as far away as we are from Washington, D.C., it’s going to take some money.”

Federal records revealed Cornyn spent $152,766.63 traveling during the first six months, between October 2008 and March 2009, of this fiscal year. The amount is more than any other senator.

Cornyn said, “if you represent a big state like Texas”, OK, right here is where I take serious issue with Sen. John Cornyn.

First and foremost, yes, by definition, you DO represent the state of Texas, but you do NOT represent the people of Texas other than in name only. The citizens of Texas, in LARGE numbers, a vast majority of Texas voters, begged you to fight the 1st bailout. You did not.

Sen. Cornyn, you were NOT sent to D.C. to vote what YOU think is right, you were sent to D.C. to vote the will of the people of Texas, and in that duty, you have failed miserably.

“His excuse is, ‘Well, it’s a big state,’” said Tom Smith, of the watchdog group Public Citizen. “I agree senator. It is a big state, and most big cities where he’s spending most of his time have real good airline service. He should be flying coach with the rest of us.”

Many Republicans, and ALL Conservatives have gone OFF on Nancy Pelosi for her methods of travel and the costs incurred. We ALL know that Nancy Pelosi is anything BUT a Conservative. We, as Conservative, REAL Conservatives, must lose the hypocrisy. If we are going to blast the Democrats for their exorbitant travel and expenses, then we are duty bound to do so when it’s the GOP making the same effort to burn TAX DOLLARS.

Americans for Prosperity tells us that Sen. John Cornyn is “a strong conservative voice in Washington, D.C.” according to Peggy Venable, AFP-Texas director. SOURCE, and once again, AFP is wrong. Maybe Peggy Venable doesn’t know the true definition of the word Conservative.

Cornyn said he often flies commercial, but he also admits he does takes charter jets. They cover more ground and allow him to see more constituents, the senator said.

Cornyn’s expensive travel tab was first revealed by Politico.com. This was the first time he has responded to questions about it.

Read the full story from WFAA.com, see exactly WHO Sen. John Cornyn is in company with on his travel expenses. I have stated MANY times, Sen. John Cornyn is NOT a CONSERVATIVE and this report seems to substantiate that belief even more.

Sen. Cornyn heard the boos of Texas voters at the Austin TEA Party on July 4th, an event sponsored by Americans for Prosperity where Cornyn was the key note speaker. Get used to those boos Senator, you’re going to be hearing many more in the future as your true self and true agenda are exposed even more.

Tooth and nail Sen. Cornyn. That’s how this fight is going to go.

Fornicalia is likewise a large state and, in truth, encompasses a larger travel area than Texas, say, flying far north to far south. So that excuse simply doesn’t hold. This is the trouble with the current GOP. They don’t mind spending like Demorats and, you’ll notice, he feels enTItled to do so.

If Supreme Court Justice Clarance Thomas can fly coach, why can’t this senator?

Like all the jerks in Congress, they say one thing and then do as they please.

Repeal the Seventeenth Amendment. Return the picking of Senators to the state legislatures. Save one hell of a lot of money in the process. Also return the role of the CongressCritters to part time. Let the bastards get a day job other than sucking off the teat of the taxpayers.
