Civil liberties groups: Police overreacted at G-20

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Police used all the nonlethal tools at their disposal to thwart protesters at the Group of 20 summit this week, firing bean bags, hurling canisters of smoke and pepper spray, using flash-bang grenades and batons and deploying a high-tech sound-blasting device meant to push back crowds.

It was all a bit much for civil liberties groups and protesters.

They decried what they called a heavy-handed and unwarranted police response, saying riot officers focused on largely peaceful, if unsanctioned, demonstrations when they should have been paying more attention to small groups of vandals that smashed windows of city businesses.

“It’s not just intimidation, it’s disruption and in some cases outright prevention of peaceful protesters being able to get their message out,” said Witold “Vic” Walczak, legal director of the ACLU of Pennsylvania. “In a week when we need freedom of speech more than ever, free speech died in Pittsburgh this week.”

It’s a strange, strange world. The anarchists have a protest, and a march, and there is violence, arrests, property damage, people hurt and taken to the hospital, tons of taxpayer dollars spent to protect the city and it’s residents from these anarchists. And what do you get next? Civil liberties groups and liberal groups, whining and crying and generally making asses of themselves as they defend the *rights* of violent anarchists and condemn the police for doing the job they are intended to do.

In comparison, an estimate 1.2 MILLION people that are affiliated with The 9-12 Group and The American TEA Party marched on Washington, D.C. on September 12th and no one was arrested, there was NO violence, no property was destroyed and the federal government was NOT overthrown. Amazing isn’t it? That is the difference between PEACEFUL marches conducted by Conservative America and marches conducted by avowed anarchists.

Re-read the 1st paragraph of this story;

Police used all the nonlethal tools at their disposal to thwart protesters at the Group of 20 summit this week, firing bean bags, hurling canisters of smoke and pepper spray, using flash-bang grenades and batons and deploying a high-tech sound-blasting device meant to push back crowds.

I applaud the police in Pittsburgh for their professional handling of these anarchist MOBS. They *could* have used bullets and 00Buck shotgun shells instead of non-lethal dispersal methods.

Around the same time, a few blocks away, windows were smashed at some 10 businesses. Police made 42 arrests near the university, but it wasn’t clear if they caught any of the vandals.

Experts say that anarchists successfully deployed a tactic in Pittsburgh that they have often used at other protests, leading a large group of people toward police, then slipping out of the crowd to commit mayhem elsewhere.

That’s the ticket. Gather up a bunch of weak-minded, libber tree huggers, whip them into a frenzy and instruct them to MARCH! And be sure to make a lot of noise while doing so. Tell them that the police are their enemy and this is all about saving the world from the vile capitalists.

Then set your true anarchists loose within this deluded bunch of weak-minded moonbats and your true anarchists are free to roam, practically unnoticed, as they carry out their true mission of destruction.

And all the while, the libber left, and their Civil liberties groups turn a blind eye to the REAL criminals as they attempt to vilify the police for putting these anarchists in their proper place.

Legal observers at the gathering saw police surrounding, chasing and arresting students who weren’t involved in the protest, said Paige Cram, spokeswoman for the National Lawyers Guild, a liberal legal-aid group. She called the show of force “an ominous spectacle.”

Well Paige, you are entitled to spew your own brand of BS I suppose, that’s your right, but I have to ask people like Paige Cram, why was the Sept. 12th march on Washington, D.C., a march that was attended by 1.2 MILLION Conservative, right-wing nut-job TEA Baggers, I believe that’s the proper terminology, isn’t it? WHY was that march so peaceful, and arrest free and the march that YOU observed in Pittsburgh, and one that you more than likely support, so violent?

And to Witold “Vic” Walczak, legal director of the ACLU of Pennsylvania, I ask the same question. WHY was there such a difference? WHY were the police so receptive to the marchers in D.C., and so much against the anarchists in Pittsburgh? “It’s not just intimidation, it’s disruption and in some cases outright prevention of peaceful protesters being able to get their message out,”, those are the words of the ACLU.

I am going to tell you WHY. It’s because the left, the ACLU, the National Lawyers Guild, libbers in general and anarchists as a rule, are the true Anti-American MOB. And the truly surprising part is, you’re ALL Obama supporters.

Yeah, truly surprising! Not… :P

It is amazing what these nuts will do. We need to send them to Iran for 2mths. They will come back and kiss American soil. I am so sick of people bashing this Great Country and then living off our tax dollars. I attended the DC March and the people there were so friendly and nice. I was able to meet people from all over the Country with different points of view, but we all agreed on one thing: This administration is WAY OUT OF CONTROL!!! Thank you Fred for putting the correct number of people at the DC March. I get real tired of hearing 75,000 people were there.

What a bunch of cry-babies. Hannity had two girls from this group on his show last night, one was a doctoral candidate—the two should have been introduced as “dumb and dumber”, my god Fred to think these young people are the future. They know nothing, absolutely nothing about economics and they are calling for re-distribution of wealth. I often wondered what their agenda is and now I know—they are truely radical socialist if not outright communist—hell, I’m living in the twilight zone. I thought that issue had been settled when the old Soviet Union crumbled from its marxist weight. Boy was I wrong. Some will never, and I mean never learn from history, but then these fine upstanding students from our best universities have not learned history not real history, but the history of their 1960′s radical professsors who are out there in la la land with their fired up bongs and their noses stuck on their compact mirrors admiring their reflections while they suck up the reality of a Utopia that doesn’t exit.

    Off topic—final score LSU - 30 Miss State - 26 Geaux Tigers!

I saw that Silver Fox on Hannity. I was thinking of a forced migration to Cuba for these jerks. 10 years under Castro should do wonders for their outlook on life. Plus with the stripping of their US citizenship, they will never be able to come back.

Yep, to a certain extent I agree Katie. One of them said their parents only earned $10,000 a year—what year was that in. These kids were not that old, I remember the first year a taught many, many, many years ago I made $3,600 per year, but I have to be much older than their parents. Your are right, they need to live under the repressive heel of radical socialism(communism) and they would quickly change their tune, but then who knows—they are committed socialist. These kids, and I can call them that, are like Hillary and they believe “It Takes A Village”—you know the type. Individualism sucks and collectivism is the wave of the future. Why am I telling you this you already know it, sorry!

Sometimes we need to rant SilverFox. If we can’t send these idiots to Cuba, how about we cut off their funds and force them to get a real job. I wonder if any of them ever did work for a living?

And the liberal left, per norm, would have you think tea parties are “Angry Mobs”. This is the best evidence that no one does the violence and discordant protests quite like the moonbats do!!!

  8. comment number 8 by: Katie

Fred they are Angry Mobs. But they are also made up of civilized people. That is a big difference.

    Katie, I beg to differ…

    mob - noun
    1. a disorderly or riotous crowd of people.
    2. a crowd bent on or engaged in lawless violence.
    3. any group or collection of persons or things.
    4. the common people; the masses; populace or multitude.
    5. a criminal gang, esp. one involved in drug trafficking, extortion, etc.
    6. the Mob, Mafia (def. 1).
    7. Sociology. a group of persons stimulating one another to excitement and losing ordinary rational control over their activity.
    8. a flock, herd, or drove of animals: a mob of sheep.

The 912 Project is not, by ANY definition, a mob…

And the news networks continuously reported on this smaller group of anarchists addressing not even an American meeting while ignoring the reported people (numbering between 500,000 to 1 million) at the 9-12 rally. A group with no arrests and who cleaned up after themselves.

However, the news media was able to find the one sign in the 9-12 crowd with the NAZI emblem identifying that BHO was pursuing nationalized socialism and to report on the sign without opening a dialog with either sign holder or others at the rally about this lone sign. Must have been difficult for these liberals to hold a conversation with a bunch of intelligent concerned citizens.

Then let us call them: Angry Voters! That should scare someone.

    Angry Voters…. chuckles*

For my part I’m surprised that none of them got shot myself. By citizens protecting their property…
