In Tuesday speech, Obama to promote new job ideas

WASHINGTON – In his latest job creation effort, President Barack Obama is trying to find practical and politically feasible ways of spurring hiring among skittish employers.

Among the ideas expected in his economic speech Tuesday is an expanded program that gives people cash incentives to fix up their homes with energy-saving materials, senior administration officials have told The Associated Press. Obama is leaning toward new incentives for small businesses that hire new workers and new spending on roads, bridges and other public works, the officials said.

The president also is open to a federal infusion of money to cash-strapped state and local governments, considered among the quickest and most effective — though expensive — ways to stem layoffs.

The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because the package and Obama’s speech were being developed. The officials emphasized that Obama probably won’t mention in his speech every job idea he will eventually support, and that his address is meant only as one step in a debate that’s sure to keep going.

Let’s take a look at poverty in our cities and what the Democrats have done to alleviate it so far.

City, State, % of People Below the Poverty Level

1. Detroit , MI 32.5%
2. Buffalo , NY 29.9%
3. Cincinnati , OH 27.8%
4. Cleveland , OH 27.0%
5. Miami , FL 26.9%
5. St.. Louis , MO 26.8%
7. El Paso , TX 26.4%
8. Milwaukee , WI 26.2%
9. Philadelphia , PA 25.1%
10. Newark , NJ 24.2%

The above numbers are from the U.S. Census Bureau, 2006 American Community Survey, August 2007

What do the top ten cities (over 250,000) with the highest poverty rate all have in common?

Detroit , MI (1st on the poverty rate list) hasn’t elected a Republican mayor since 1961;

Buffalo , NY (2nd) hasn’t elected one since 1954;

Cincinnati , OH (3rd)…since 1984;

Cleveland , OH (4th)….since 1989;

Miami , FL (5th) has never had a Republican mayor;

St. Louis , MO (6th)….since 1949;

El Paso , TX (7th) has never had a Republican mayor;

Milwaukee , WI (8th)…since 1908;

Philadelphia , PA (9th)…since 1952;

Newark , NJ (10th)….since 1907.

Albert Einstein once said, ‘The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results.’

It is the poor who habitually elect Democrats, yet they are still POOR.

“You cannot help the poor by destroying the rich. You cannot strengthen the weak by weakening the strong. You cannot bring about prosperity by discouraging thrift. You cannot lift the wage earner up by pulling the wage payer down. You cannot further the brotherhood of man by inciting class hatred. You cannot build character and courage by taking away people’s initiative and independence. You cannot help people permanently by doing for them, what they could and should do for themselves.” ~Abraham Lincoln~

Mr. Obama, you are no Abe Lincoln.

Can ANYONE tell me WHY the poor of this nation keep on voting for the Democrats? Surely being poor doesn’t necessarily equate to being stupid, does it?

    People in these major cities that continue to vote for those who always screw them prove one of two things, either they are stupid or they like it. The numbers in these cities is appauling, and the really sad thing is that the parts of those states that are doing well continue to have to support the failures of these cities and when the states can no longer support the massive failures in these cities then the federal government always steps in. Lets face one simple fact Democrats could not win elections in these states if it were not for the huge pluralities coming from these areas. Also voter fraud is rampant in these metropolitian centers with little being done to curve it. These areas are truely the “Black Hole” of American politics with logic and reason being sucked in never to appear again.

    I’m not sure if being poor means you are stupid…but it sure seems the stupid ones are poor…in one way or another.

    The problem is most of those stupid people were following ( voting ) their parents…and in turn when they grow up their children will follow them. When you are headed down the path to nowhere… you’ll never get anywhere, but that doesn’t stop them. I think it’s in their genes.

    They are stupid and that’s what they’re counting on, after all they were schooled here by their liberal Unions so they know most are ignorant.

    Perhaps he will follow whatever his advice will be and look for a new job himself. I thought that’s what the trillion dollar stimulus was for?

    So more proof on Tuesday that it was nothing but payoffs and bribes for the liberal loon votes, just as we thought.

    Fred says

    “Can ANYONE tell me WHY the poor of this nation keep on voting for the Democrats? Surely being poor doesn’t necessarily equate to being stupid, does it?”

    Yes, yes it does Fred. It’s very simple. These so called “POOR” people are the lazy bastards that don’t want to, or ever will want to work. They are content to stay at home and collect their welfare and food stamps, watch Oprah on the big screen, and call their buds on the cell phones and will never vote the person out that makes it all happen for them. They pay NO taxes but when a disaster strikes they are the ones that yell the loudest about the government doesn’t do enough for them. As far as I’m concerned, people that are on welfare SHOULD NOT be allowed to vote because they own nothing and will sell their vote for a bottle of cheap wine or a pack of cigarettes. THAT, is stupid and nullifies a vote that counts.

    I had some ASSHAT try to make a post about *You owe me*, he was crying about slave reparations and how he thought that black people were entitled…

    Ya don’t see any bullshit like that on MY site! :twisted:

  8. comment number 8 by: Silver Fox

    Hell Fred, after Obama get through with us, we may all need reparations!

    Slaves…it appears a lot of lazy blacks have given up many slave masters to now only have one ” Big Government ” to take care of them. The Democrat Politicians ( modern slave masters ) now feed and clothe them….give them food and medical care…all for the work the Dems need, but that no longer labor…it’s votes at the polls.

    They are just too stupid to realize they have given up one slave master for another one…and when they are no longer useful…the master will throw them out like last weeks garbage….so they have to obey ever request the master requires of them. All those in history fought and died to free them from slavery…and after they got their freedom…they found they couldn’t live outside of slavery.

    My expectation would be for Government to know it’s place. By not monitoring the crooks on Wall Street, listening to Barney Frank assure us that Fannie and Freddie were AOK, and in general NOT DOING THE JOB THEY WERE ELECTED TO DO, jobs like mine (working in software development) have been lost. I have been out of work for almost a year now! The first thing that is cut by businesses that are bracing them selves to get hosed by the Federal Government is development of new software!!!! I don’t need a “shovel ready job”!!!

    And to anyone who thinks they are owed ANYTHING… go sue whatever African tribe that conquered your ancestors and sold them into slavery!!!! I’m sick of that lame excuse to be lazy on someone else’s dime!

    And yes Fred… if people aren’t wising up to what the Democrat Party has evolved into (a distructive force with the goal of enslaving common men!), then you can safely assume that Democrat = idiot. Take that from a former, lifetime Democrat. It took awhile, but eventually I saw that when John Kennedy said “Ask not what your country can do for you, ask What You can do for your country.” it didn’t sink in with his own party. The Democrat party has changed for the worse. But then again, I’m not exactly admiring the leadership in the RNC these days either.

    As was stated the Dems count on the inner city poor to push them over the top in any election. To accomplish this they try to keep them dumbed down through public school systems with an agenda and community groups like ACORN. IMHO they also try to keep them doped up so no questions are asked and they don’t give a shit. If this wasn’t the case there would be decent inner city school systems and the drug problems these cities have would be contained. DOPED UP AND DUMBED DOWN = DEM VOTES!

    IMO There is a difference between being “poor” and living in “poverty.”

    Being poor is a lifestyle. I can’t afford what I want, therefore I am poor because I want. Take a gander at the food stamp map by location.

    I can tell you that the vote in El Paso is heavily run by ACORN and Project Vote. The open border, illegal immigration, human smuggling, drug smuggling and amnesty are a way of life. The amount of fraud that takes place is incredible. West Texas has and always will be the stepchild of Austin. It is this way because imo, Austin likes it this way, “keep them out of our hair.” Toss them a bone and keep them there. The problem is that what is in El Paso will eventually permeate elsewhere. You can’t even walk into a store without being spoken to in Spanish first. The school districts are open about not requesting proper identification for attending the public schools. Drive onto any school parking lot and see how many of the license plates are registered to Mexico. The university prides itself on giving scholarships to Mexican students. If we ever have another act of terrorism like 9/11, look to our open borders. Just unbelievable.
    It is truly a shame.
