Blackwater probe expands to 5 deadly incidents

U.S. conducting several investigations into security firm incidents

WASHINGTON - Five cases this year in which private Blackwater USA security guards killed Iraqi civilians are at the core of a U.S. review of how the hired protection forces guard diplomats in Iraq, officials said Friday.

Iraqi authorities are also concerned about a sixth incident in which Blackwater guards allegedly threw frozen bottles of water at civilian cars, breaking windshields. No one was killed.

The United States has not made conclusive findings about the incidents, which include a Sept. 16 case in which at least 11 Iraqis died. A State Department official said investigators are not aware of others. The official spoke on condition of anonymity because the inquiries are in progress.

The United States is conducting several inquiries spawned by the deadly Baghdad shooting this month involving the private security contractor that protects U.S. diplomats and others in Iraq.

The Sept. 16 killings outraged many Iraqis, who have long resented the presence of armed Western security contractors, considering them an arrogant mercenary force that abuses Iraqis in their own country.

Blackwater is the largest of three private companies contracted by the State Department to provide security for U.S. diplomats in Iraq.

More Blackwater incidents probed

I have a 3 point question I just have to ask of all the detractors of Blackwater USA; how many Americans were killed while being protected by Blackwater?? How many Iraqi or foreign diplomats were killed while being protected by Blackwater?? How many U.S. diplomats or State Department personnel were killed while being protected by Blackwater??

Blackwater USA is doing the job they were contracted to do, and doing it quite successfully I might add, perhaps some of our military leaders and politicos need to put aside the idea that a PC war can be fought and try mustering up the necessary BALLS to get the job done with the efficiency exhibited by Blackwater USA, just a thought…

Iraqi civilians? I wonder if they were the same kind of innocent civilians as here: http://extremecatholic.blogspot.com/images/fallujah-bridge.jpg

IRAQI CIVILIANS? Gotdamit, none of the sumbitches doing the killing are in uniform..they all are civilians.

When will the people in the USA wake up to the fact that the only thing that the fuckin’ ragheads respect is strength. They may not like it but they damn sure will respect it. Moreover, I figure that they see any and all attempts to “talk about the problems” as signs of weakness to be exploited.

But, the hooplah is typical of the left wing..they make demands but when the demands are met they are pissed by the methods..and never have any ideas of their own to solve the problem.

Dittoes! Blackwater is this year’s KBR - our contractors have done an outstanding job - and I find it horrible that the very diplomats Blackwater kept alive are not coming to their defense. We who were affiliated with KBR truckers in 04 - 05 went through this crap in the media.
Blackwater is excellent at what they do and should not be thrown under the bus in the name of political correctness.
Thanks, TexasFred, for another excellent commentary.
