PHOENIX (AP) - Ten thousand immigrant rights advocates marched in front of a county jail in Phoenix Saturday in a protest that was aimed at Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s immigration efforts and was marked by a clash between a small group of protesters and police officers.
Organizers say the protest was meant to show officials in Washington that Arpaio shouldn’t handle immigration enforcement, and that Congress and the Obama administration need to come up with a way for immigrant workers to come to the country legally.
The three-mile walk that started in a west Phoenix park ended by afternoon at the Durango Jail Complex, a collection of five jails, where officials played music, including a record by singer Linda Ronstadt, to drown out noise made by protesters. Ronstadt took part in Saturday’s protest.

Organizers said the protest was meant to show officials in Washington that Joe Arpaio shouldn’t handle immigration enforcement? Well, I guess the next thing that needs to be established is just WHO DOES need to handle immigration enforcement. It’s a certainty that Washington isn’t doing a good job.
That’s not a stab at the Obama administration either by the way, not at them in particular. It is, in fact, an accusation towards ALL U.S. administrations dating back to 1954 when President Dwight D. Eisenhower initiated Operation Wetback. Since that time, immigration enforcement has been getting sloppier with every administration.
Ronald Reagan, perhaps the greatest President we’ll ever see, signed the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986 into law. It was simply a move at granting amnesty to those that were not in this nation legally.
George W. Bush tried his very best to push off an amnesty act for the illegals, causing him to be called into doubt concerning his conservatism, while confirming his RINO bonafides.
Kay Bailey Hutchison is a supporter of AMNESTY for ILLEGALS. I say that without stuttering in ANY way. Hutchison was a HUGE supporter of the Immigrant Dream Act, and thank God, it bit the dust. Immigrant ‘Dream’ Act Fails Key Senate Vote.
So, you see, I am not singling out the Obama administration. I am NOT blasting the Democrats, not just the Democrats. I am pointing my finger at ALL of them, and I am asking the questions that I know fully well will never be answered by any bleeding heart, left leaning administration.
The questions I want answered, by Obama, Napolitano, DHS, INS, all of them, is this; what part of ILLEGAL are you guys missing? What part of ILLEGAL are the people protesting Joe Arpaio missing? What part of ENFORCING THE LAW do they not understand?
That’s what Law Enforcement agencies are in place to do, is it not? To enforce the law of the land?
What are these people afraid of? If these ILLEGALS took the time to go through the LEGAL process of coming here, I would welcome them with open arms. If they came here LEGALLY and took the time and put out the effort to become U.S. citizens, English speaking citizens, I am sure they would find a lot less opposition to their being here.
The one thing I can’t accept is blanket amnesty for those not here legally. They are criminals in every sense of the word. They don’t want to be American citizens, they want, for the most part, to make enough money to support themselves and to be able to send U.S. dollars to families still in Mexico. They aren’t making ANY effort on their own to become LEGAL, much less citizens!
Protesters chanted “Joe must go” as they approached the jail complex. One person carried a sign that said “We are human” and bore a picture of a lawman with a wolf’s face. A family of five wore T-shirts saying “Who would Jesus deport?”
Who would Jesus deport? Seriously? They want to go there? Â
I have to reference Mark 12:17, Then Jesus said to them, “Give to Caesar what is Caesar’s and to God what is God’s.” And they were amazed at him.
Remember the context: the Pharisees were trying to trap Jesus into blaspheming, and asked if it was lawful for Jews to pay taxes to Rome. Jesus held up a coin and asked whose picture was on it, and the Pharisees replied that it was Caesar’s picture. So, Jesus told them to give to Caesar (secular authority) that which was his (ie; taxes) and give to God what belonged to Him (praise and worship).
Since Jesus isn’t an ICE Agent, I think that a better question would be, what is Sheriff Joe Arpaio going to do and is anyone in the Federal food chain going to have the BALLS to back him!

Excuse me you frikken wetback illegal POS, THERE IS already a WAY for you to come to this country legally, it’s called a green card. Maybe you been listening to the wrong people that CHARGE you big bucks to bring you here. Come through the front gate legally AND you’ll get to keep your money, be welcome, and NOT have to live in the shadows. Why, even the sheriff will give you a pass with protection thrown in.

Then, follow the rules and directions given to you.
You don’t follow the steps exactly, you will NOT receive a visa.

However, many mexican nationals hope that we USA citizens will feel guilty and let any mexican in free, because “this really is their country and we took it away from them in the 1800’s.
Only the ignorant and stupid mexicans know this, and guess what, these are the ones crossing our SOVEREIGN BORDERS illegally.
So, by whatever means necessary, just CLOSE OUR BORDERS NOW TIGHT.
Cut off cross border tourism, aid, work and living crossings.
No exceptions. Just close it down.
Only re-open partially when say 6 million mexicans have been returned.
They ask who would Jesus deport? Are they talking about the same Jesus that obeyed every law of the land? The Jesus that even willingly paid the Temple Tax even though it was His temple? Are they talking of the same Jesus that will say in the day of judgment “Depart from me, ye cursed , into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels”. I can tell you one thing for sure is that they’re not talking about the Jesus of the Bible. The Jesus of the Bible would never condone illegal activists of any kind.
Don’t believe ten thousand wet backs bothered Sheriff Joe much. Sounds like he needs a bigger jail and some reinforcements. This crap is all a prelude to Obama’s introduction of an amnesty bill; which of course will now include several hundred thousand Haitians. Guess Voodoo will become a recognized religion under that bill.

Those on the left see new voters coming their way and those “country club” republicans and the Chamber of Commerce see a endless supply of cheap labor. Only question I have is a bit of a rhetorical one:
What was the predominant race of the protesters? Any guesses? And I’d venture to bet the citizenry of the protesters was also NOT American. Just like a year ago when me and a few others went to LA to counter protest the 10,000 ANSWER marchers that were protesting Israel and who were predominantly ARAB students with visas. They had no business protesting in this country, and I’d bet those in Phoenix were as well out of line.
Obama said after the underwear bomber that he was going to tighten up Visa controls to keep us safe. Now is that a joke or what. The bottomline is that the people we have elected in WDC to “protect us” are only protecting themselves. They need to enforce the law not change it to obtain more votes. I don’t think they were talking about Jesus Christ. I think they were talking about (Hay-zoos). He wouldn’t deport anyone!! He’s still trying to make it across the border himself!!
This is “The Land of Opportunity”, right? Mexicans, Canadians, Haitians, etc. all have the “opportunity” to do this the right way. I am all for someone wanting to better themselves and make a better life for their family. I am not in favor of paying for it. Not only are illegal immigrants sucking money out of our economy (which is already in the crapper) by sending American money back to their families in other countries, but, when the illegals are captured, we burn up more money deporting the bastards. This is not a quick process. As many of you know, I am a law enforcement officer, and am very familiar with the process. For those of you that are not, I will give you a “for instance” of one of the many ways we as LEO’s have to deal with this issue on a daily basis.
Illegal Immigrant will be abbreviated by “A”
“A” is driving a vehicle on a busy street with no insurance because “A” is illegal and cannot provide proper identification to purchase insurance. “A” decides to turn left from the far right lane (because “A” was never properly trained to drive) and “A” smashes into a hard working, insurance policy holding American (Victim 1). Vehicles are severely damaged. Now, the person with insurance has to go through more crap, because “A” is not insured. The wrecker service that tows “A”’s vehicle is not going to get paid, because “A” goes to jail and gets deported (Victim 2). The officer arrests “A” for, in my state, Operating a Motor Vehicle Without Lawful Presence in the United States, and books them (Victim 3-Society). Now “A” is in jail. Meals are not free. Electricity is not free. Water is not free. Medical care is not free. Resources and time are wasted in trying to identify “A” because he has 28 different aliases that he’s been fingerprinted with in AFIS. As we all know, ICE doesn’t go en route the second you call them, so, local residents are stuck paying for “A” to live at the jail while waiting for ICE. Let’s say, a week or 2, maybe 3 weeks later, ICE finally takes custody of “A”. Well, there goes more federal (Victim 3) dollars supporting “A”, just to repeat the process for a 29th time when “A” gets a new alias and crosses the river again.
To me, this is worse than someone who is on welfare, and refuses to get a job, but chooses to keep making babies. At least with welfare, our taxes are paying for AMERICANS!!
Do all of the victims deserve to have to pay for these costs? NO!!
I’m sending out an SOS to our Border Patrol, but it’s not the SOS you’re thinking about. I’m suggesting Shoot On Sight!!
A $.50 round could save this country, it’s citizens, lawmakers, sheriffs, and local municipalities potentially hundreds to thousands of dollars!! It’s like switching to GEICO (Get Every Illegal Cast Out)!!!!!

Go vote in your primary-vote in November and check the policies and views of the candidates before you vote. Close the borders and deport ALL illegals. This situation is the dumbest thing we have ever done - well maybe not the dumbest but close to it - Health Care is the dumbest right after electing Obama, Reid and Pelosi
Here is hoping that Sheriff Joe doesn’t back down from the pressure, I don’t think that he will. He is just about the only person willing to do this job. All administrations have been woefully inept, and almost criminal in my book, on this issue.
