Obama touts $50 billion transportation proposal

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama today lobbied for Republican support from Capitol Hill for a burst of spending on transportation projects, calling his proposal a jobs creator for the middle class and an overdue investment in the country’s foundation.

“There’s no reason why we can’t do this,” Obama said in a brief Rose Garden event. “There’s no reason why the world’s best infrastructure should lie beyond our borders. This is America. We’ve always had the best infrastructure … All we need is the political will.”

Obama is proposing a $50 billion plan as an initial step toward a six-year program of transportation programs. It calls for building, fixing or maintaining thousands of miles of roads, rail lines and airport runways, along with installing a new air navigation system to reduce travel delays, and other projects.

The president unveiled the idea over Labor Day. Today’s event amounted to another chance to promote it. The president met privately with governors, mayors, transportation officials and Cabinet secretaries and then stood with some of them before the cameras as he made his case.

“There’s no reason why we can’t do this,”

I can give you 50 Billion reasons why we can’t do this. It’s $50 Billion the U.S. government just doesn’t have! And I’m pretty sure that it’s $50 Billion dollars that U.S. taxpayers aren’t wanting to cough up right about now.

Hussein Obama (S), is a SOCIALIST of the 1st order. He wants to rob Peter to pay Paul, and that is nothing more than another method of wealth redistribution. Socialism in it’s purest form.

I have seen it written, and heard it said, that the trouble with Socialism is that eventually you run out of other people’s money. Obama has run OUT of OUR money. All that’s left for Obama to do now is to borrow money from China, or print more money, thus making our currency even more worthless.

The government can’t create jobs. Try and remember your history lessons and think of this one thing, Franklin D. Roosevelt (D) created all kinds of work programs to bail the USA out of the Great Depression.

The USA only exited the Great Depression because WE were the only manufacturing entity in the world left intact when WWII broke out and we were supplying the world with war materials, and everything else that was needed for survival and victory.

The American workers went back to work to support the war effort, our efforts and those of our allies, and those efforts were spurred by PRIVATE enterprise, not the U.S. government.

If the U.S. taxpayer cuts of the purse strings, the U.S. government hasn’t got a leg to stand on.

The timing also comes as Obama is eager to show action on the sluggish economy just ahead of the Nov. 2 congressional elections, with his party in jeopardy of losing a sizable number of seats in the House and Senate. Obama asked for Republican support, saying infrastructure work typically draws bipartisan support. But such cooperation seems unlikely in the current partisan atmosphere.

And that is the heart of the matter with Hussein Obama. It’s not about jobs, it’s not about the economy, it’s not about the American people, it’s not about our health and welfare, it’s not about recovery. It’s about the Democrats and their plans to retain control of the U.S. government, thus allowing the current regime even more opportunities to rape the American taxpayer further.

The economy continues to dominate public concern. The public sector slashed 159,000 jobs in September, including the largest cuts by local governments in 28 years. Obama said his program would boost employment right away and help make up for what he called years of costly inattention to the country’s infrastructure.

All the Obama regime can do is point their fingers and blame Bush.

Obama: “Republicans Messed Up So Bad” That Millions Are Still Out Of Work

“There are three million Americans who would not be working again if not for the economic plan Joe and I put in place, that’s the truth,” President Obama told a crowd in Philadelphia.

“The hole we’re climbing out of is so deep. The Republicans messed up so bad, left such a big mess, that there is [sic] still millions of Americans without work,” he added. SOURCE

Hussein Obama IS a disgrace to the office of President and his presidency presents a clear and present danger to this nation and it’s citizens. That is my opinion of him and his entire regime.

And before the usual Democratic moonbats weigh in on email about what a vile racist I am, telling me how much I hate Obama simply because it’s Obama, I blame George W. Bush just as much as I blame Hussein Obama.

They are cut from the same cloth, BOTH of them put together haven’t got an overabundance of intelligence. This destruction of the American economy was a joint effort, one shared equally by ALL elected officials, the ones that ALLOWED Bush to start this downward spiral, and those that ALLOWED Hussein Obama to take us even further into the abyss.

“Everywhere else, they’re thinking big. They’re creating jobs today, but they’re also playing to win tomorrow,” Obama said of some of the top economic competitors to the United States. “So the bottom line is our shortsightedness has come due. We can no longer afford to sit still.”

The reason other nations are creating jobs today and playing to win tomorrow is because they are PLAYING on OUR dime, and all of the outsourced jobs that corrupt unions and politicians have forced out of business.

More precisely, TAXED out of doing business within the United States.

As said, Obama is not solely to blame, past administrations have been just as guilty of killing the American Dream as is Obama himself. The thing is, now it’s Obama’s watch and he wants to blame everyone except himself and his own ineptitude. Boy Blunder is a TRAIN WRECK and America is where the wreck happened.

The administration released a new analysis of Obama’s plan that said it would particularly help with middle-class jobs in construction, manufacturing and retail.

Again, smoke and mirrors, robbing Peter to pay Paul. No matter how they say it, no matter how many times they tell the lie about jobs creation, the government has to TAX the American people to pay for this transportation proposal.

No matter how you cut it, when you TAX Americans to PAY Americans, it is Socialism.

The not so wonderful world of Obamanomics.

Personally, I might believe he’s wanting to create jobs rather than destroy the economy and the US if he had applied money to the infrastructure rather than building pet projects and funding things like studying the migration habits of a chipmunk or spending money to save a sewer system so it can be a historical monument.. wasteful trash that was stuffed in the porkulus bill right after the Bozo illegally took office. I would believe he may have America’s best interest in mind if he’d kept his word to stop the special interests, lobbyists, etc instead of meeting with so many in secret while he was shoving the health care bill down our throats! How do you know Obama is lying??? HIs lips move!!!

Anyone who buys into this crap is a nut. The only construction workers (a minority) that will get work on this are the ones who are unionized! The majority don’t have unions. This is such a crock!

HAM — Someone will challenge you on that *Illegally took office* thing…

It’s not PROVEN in a court of law that he’s NOT an American, and he DID win the election and was duly sworn in…

That idiot preacher in Atlanta held a *kangaroo court* but we’ve all seen how far that got, and then the far right got all pissed off when I pointed it out to them, right Anthony G. Martin? “People like me?” :P

People like ME, that point out the TRUTH, are a real pain in the ass to those that place their faith in some idiot on YouTube holding *court*…

I’m not defending the bastard (Obama), not by ANY stretch, just being *fair and balanced*…

Gee, I thought that trillion dollar stimulus was supposed to rebuild the infrastructure?

It was Lady Margret Thatcher who made the statement about socialism running out of other peoples money.

I’ll remember you were fair and balanced Fred… and very quick to put the truth out there. :-D . In my mind, One of Obama’s parents wasn’t a US Citizen (Kenyan Daddy)… so under the definition of “natural born citizen”, he isn’t on that alone. I still remember the stink the left tried to raise about McCain being born outside the US and his father was serving in the Navy!!! That was pretty stupid IMHO. I also think being raised outside the US all his life has made him out of touch with what America really is about. But your point is well taken. But I don’t believe he was ever POTUS material.

In my mind, One of Obama’s parents wasn’t a US Citizen (Kenyan Daddy)…

And when YOUR MIND becomes a court of law, that will be a marvelous argument, as soon as you do away with ANCHOR BABIES…

Again, FAIR AND BALANCED — IT DOESN’T MATTER where his parents were born, if, a BIG IF, if HE was born here, and I too have my doubts, but IF he was, HE is an American…

It also matters NOT where he was raised regarding his citizenship… An hour after birth he could have been spirited off to China, he’s STLL an American IF he was born on U.S. soil…

You are arguing apples and oranges… McCain isn’t a part of this, and in McCain’s case, U.S. law prescribes that a military birth, regardless of the place it happens, makes the child a NATURAL BORN U.S. citizen, the parent(s) are on duty for the USA…

This is the 1st time you have taken a post so far off topic… Damn..

I read today that the Fed is debating as to whether or not to print more money.

Such a move would be the death knell for our economy.

Great Fred! Every day there’s so much ‘amusement’ (read: outrage) in the news. I heard this one on the radio in the car today and then stumbled upon it again in an article by the AP:

“… In New York, Carl Paladino, the tea party-backed Republican candidate for governor, caused a furor among Democrats when he said over the weekend that children shouldn’t be “brainwashed” into thinking homosexuality is acceptable. …”

Wait, does that mean Democrats think it IS acceptable that our kids are brainwashed into thinking this? It’s not just our kids either! I don’t want to use numbers I’m not exactly sure of, but it seems to me the gay/lesbian community make up a tiny portion of the overall population in the United States, yet nearly EVERY prime-time sitcom prominently features a member of this community; sometimes the entire premise of the show does. Brainwashing ala laughter I guess. I don’t agree with this lifestyle choice but I suppose to each his own; just don’t shove it down my throat and certainly stop doing it to my kids!

As far as the $50 billion…I suppose we could just borrow more from the Chinese. OH WAIT! … wouldn’t that be taking money from a foreign entity? Isn’t that supposed to be a bad thing? I’m so confused…perhaps I just don’t understand the rules - it’s good if it helps his highness, bad if it doesn’t. Yeah, that must be it.

I just don’t get it… We are in an emergency situation every time the POTUS takes the podium now. Every time he needs to spend more money its a DIRE SITUATION… I gotta ask WHERE is the “Unspent” BILLIONS from the “Save us from a deep depression” stimulus? Obama has give billions to the teachers unions to save them, and it’s found out that the lady by his side for the photo-op was laid off this month anyway. He gave banks more money, he’s done everything he can do as long as spending is in the solution…The best thing he could do is resign.

HAM talking about McCain; Funny the liberals thought that was a legitimate question, but if you ask anything about Obama YOU ARE A RACIST!!!!

Obama would go a long way in dispelling that rumor if he wasn’t so anti-American.

Lets see..? All those fuel taxes, which were originally earmarked for transportation related things have been hijacked into the general fund, but now he wants more? Why, for more of the same bull pucky?

When I was on the road this past summer I saw porkulus signs all over. Who was doing the work? Unionized state workers, and Teamsters… Union payoffs in other words…

That pointed eared wanna be American should look to the Private Market, and support Free market solutions if he truly wants to get things back on track. But no, he’s a damned Keynesian Socialist..

Remember Robert, never waste an emergency. Hell, if there isn’t one then create one…

Obama never let a little thing like not having any money stop him from spending before, he won’t let it stop him this time either. He just doesn’t get it, this is exactly what the American people are tired of.

  11. comment number 11 by: Bob Mack

It’s always easy for a politician to spend other people’s money, and the socialist Obama seems to want to spend ALL of it. In my blog post today, I was reminiscing about my first real job, washing dishes in a dinner restaurant:
“By my reckoning, twelve of the forty hours I’d spent standing in clouds of hot vapor had been as a servant indentured to the various governmental entities that all claimed to somehow have a lien on my labor. From that day to this, I have never understood why supposedly rational Americans continue to vote for the very Democratic thimbleriggers who promise to take a bigger and bigger bite out of the funds said citizens need to feed, clothe, and shelter them and theirs.”
Any working person that votes Democrat needs to make an appointment with a competent psychiatrist, and the sooner the better.

Certainly there’s no denying our infrastructure is crumbling. It’s been crumbling for years. I would ask: so, with each gallon of gas we purchase there is, at minimum, an EIGHTEEN CENT FEDERAL TAX on that gallon. And so: WHERE has that money gone?

It IS sleight-of-hand. It’s stealing from the wealth-makers and real job creators in order to PAY for more “jobs.” Which are temporary — when the money marked for that bill runs out.

The infrastructure is crumbling around our ears because we’ve put it on Ignore Mode for too many years. When we WERE fat we decided to increase cash for NON PRODUCERS in our society.

This was a choice made by both Demorats and Republicans.

But simply throwing money at “infrastructure” whilst STILL holding states on the hook will result in the Chris Christie Decision. And I say: as well it SHOULD.

The infrastructure was put on ignore mode because the money was used to pay for social programs.
