That Nagging Feeling

October 21st, 2010 . by TexasFred
All of my regular readers know how much I admire the writing of my friend and fellow Southern Conservative, J.D. Longstreet. Once again he has made a post that is too good to not share! And it is 100% accurate. I hope the skeptics and GOP followers will pay attention and learn from this wise man.

That Nagging Feeling

A Commentary by J. D. Longstreet

It is a sad commentary on politics in America when an American cannot trust his or her own political party. Unfortunately, that is exactly where we are as the end of democrat dominance in Washington looms.

Anxious voters are asking themselves, and each other, if the GOP will have the intestinal fortitude to take the fight to the democrats — and ALL The Way To The Wall, if necessary. THAT is the question nagging conservative voters especially those who are involved with the Tea Party movement in America and those republican voters who support the Tea Party movement. It is that “nagging feeling” I referred to in the title to this piece.

I must tell you, in my opinion, this is the GOP’s last shot at governing as a serious political party in America. Conservatives have found their power and their voice and over the past few months they have been eagerly learning how to use their voice and their power.

If the conservatives in America hand over power to the republicans in November and the republicans do not respond by standing up for conservative issues and pressing forward the conservative agenda, then MS Palin is correct, the Republican Party is through. Oh, there will be two political parties at the top in Washington, but it will be the Tea Party and the democrats with the GOP as a third party.

That nagging feeling I have includes the worry that the GOP still does not understand just how serious we conservatives really are. I don’t think they understand, I mean REALLY understand that conservatives in America are ready and willing to go to the mat to restore America to the constitutional, representative, republic the founders of this nation intended. We will defend her from the liberal-socialists who intend to transform America into a socialist state.

It has been said that freedom in America stands on five boxes: the soapbox, the ballot box, the jury box, and the cartridge box. It is a truism that has been forgotten over the years but it is a truism, nevertheless.

The sovereignty movement within the states has involved half, or more, of the states reasserting their sovereignty from the reins of the federal government. The people of those states are serious. They are not “playing around.” No matter which political party is in power, they had better understand that the people of America have had it with an all powerful federal government inserting itself into every aspect of a citizen’s life. We are, as they say: “ … Mad as hell, and we’re not going to take it anymore!”

The GOP will have one shot, one shot, mind you, to get it right. They had better not screw this up! They have to repeal ObamaCare, lower taxes, and get America back to work – and that is just for starters. They had better understand that Obama will fight them every step of the way and they had better be ready to fight, even if that eventually means shutting down the government. Yes, I DID say shutting down the government. A GOP Congress can use the power of the purse to bring pressure to bear where it is needed and they must not be afraid to do so.

Conservatives understand that we are in a fight for the very existence of America as a free country. We intend to live free.

I don’t think the GOP understands, yet, how fervently conservatives are invested in the idea of a free America. But they are about to.

WE have seen how quickly a country can go from the top to the bottom under the leadership of a liberal-socialist government.

The democrats seeded the cancer in America that is socialism. It continues to eat away at the very life of our country by killing liberty after liberty, freedom after freedom, and smothering the life out of American’s desire to achieve, overcome, and excel.

Since the democratic takeover of our Congress in 2006 we have become a mediocre country. The socialists in our government have denied, and continue to deny, American exceptionalism. They have been diligent in their efforts to turn America away from God and toward the state for everything. A free America cannot survive as a godless country.

Religious conservatives, especially the evangelical Christians, will happily tell you they will be going to the polls to vote their religious faith this November. They will be voting against the Obama Agenda and the Liberal-Socialist Agenda of the Democratic Party. They have come to understand that all the things the scriptures warn them about is embodied in the Obama Regime and the agenda of the Democratic Party. Many will tell you their religious faith compels they vote against the democrats and their “agenda from Hell.”

As I write these words, it is two weeks to the Mid-Term Election on November 2nd. I have heard the speeches. I have heard the promises. I have heard the pledges from the GOP. Yet, that nagging feeling persists.

Oh, well. Maybe it is just my natural paranoia, or, maybe, it is just good, old, common sense niggling at the edges of my politically induced indifference. You know … the urge to throw up one’s hands and turn one’s back and just walk away. But this time, THIS time, the stakes are way too high.

No.

This time we stand and fight. If the Republican Party is incapable of representing the conservative agenda in Congress then it is time to replace the GOP with a new political party that will.

INSIGHT on Freedom: That Nagging Feeling

You can read Longstreet’s wonderful commentary every day: INSIGHT on Freedom

I am going to take this one step further than my wonderful friend Longstreet, I am telling ALL of you, not suggesting, not going on a nagging feeling, I am telling you straight up, here and now, immediately after the election we’re going to see the recurrence of the RINO and reach across the aisle politics like never before.

The GOP is setting the Conservatives and the TEA Party up. The GOP fully plans to nullify any and all gains that Conservatives and TEA Party candidates make. The inroads we have all worked so hard for are already being written off by the GOP and they are prepared to plow us under as soon as the GOP has their hands on the gavel.

The GOP will try and deny it, but that cat already left the bag when Mississippi big mouth Trent Lott made this statement:

Former Senate majority leader Trent Lott (R-Miss.), now a D.C. lobbyist, warned that a robust bloc of rabble-rousers spells further Senate dysfunction. “We don’t need a lot of Jim DeMint disciples,” Lott said in an interview. “As soon as they get here, we need to co-opt them.” SOURCE

Wake up America, pay attention to these words, listen, and plan accordingly. The America that we all know and love is in at least as much danger from the GOP as it is the Dems.

That robust bloc of rabble-rousers Lott refers to, that’s us, you and me, the TEA Party, the once powerful Conservative Party of Reagan, and the GOP wants to take us down the tubes just as much as the Dems.

And I am going to say this, and quite frankly, I don’t give a damn WHO likes it or not, beware of GOP controlled and GOP founded TEA Party groups. They DO exist. If you live in Rowlett all you have to do is look east, just across the lake, and you’ll find the perfect example of a TEA Party that has already been co-opted by the GOP.

There, by God, I said it!

Do you want even more proof? Read this: GOP leader hopes to work with Obama on some issues.

All you need to do now is read it like it’s truly meant to be read, and this is what you can expect if you just read between the lines: GOP leader hopes to work with Obama to attain super majority and take America even further into the abyss.

Any time a GOP leader says he hopes to work with Obama on some issues, you had better be on high alert, the GOP is looking for power and control, nothing more, nothing less.

They want the power and WE are to be the controlled.

Outstanding article and I’m going to borrow it.

Fred, you’re right about the GOP co-opting some TEA Parties. To me, that’s why I don’t believe, right now, the TEA Party doesn’t need a national leadership. These men and women are human and like any human can be corrupted by power, money, influence, and the desire to make a name for ones self and the GOP is ready to provied these people with those desires…sounds like almost what Eve was tempted with in the garden. All they need to do is kowtow to what the GOP wants. Local TEA Parties with local control

The political party that is most in danger because of the Tea Party is the GOP. We see the Dems as a lost cause, the enemy of the republic. The GOP is the Tea Party vehicle of choice, but…if they fail to go where we want, the GOP will wither away into oblivion.

Fred, you and Longstreet make a great tag team for freedom loving people. Thanks for sharing this in this format. So much truth about what we really need to be concerned about. I have feared for a long time that many of the people in the Tea Party will go back to the couch after this election, rather than staying involved in the watchdog process and holding leaders on Capitol Hill accountable. We cannot rest when fighting the corruption on the scale of Washington DC. The fight will continue for decades to come. We have damage that goes back to that scumbag Woodrow Wilson to undo. The best example… the 17th amendment needs repealed and term limits needs to be imposed.
Thank you for posting this much needed wake up call to all Americans who love freedom! You have made my day!

Read J.D.s article this AM. Agree with you both. Whoever gets elected Nov 2 needs to be kept accountable for their actions. “WE THE PEOPLE” need to keep on these politicians like stink on feces. If anything, consevatives need to co-opt the GOP.

I’m on it Fred, just being careful not to send a link to anyone I don’t know to be a true blue Conservative. This is too good not to share.

    Fred,

I had a (probably illegal) discussion with a fellow exasperated voter this morning while at the early vote polling place. Basically we both agreed that the current crop of Prepublicans will get exactly a two-year chance. They are not being given a job for life, but are being placed on probationary hire status.

    Keep your powder dry.

Well said. The Tea Party must remain vigilant. The really hard work begins on 3 Nov as we work towards the 2012 election. A good marker as to the inensity of the fight will we have will be the extent to which there are leadership changes in the R party; no changes = big fight, big changes = little fight. We will also have to contend with the fact that once in Washington there is ony one party, the incumbent party. In fairness, there are some exceptions but not many.

    J.D. Hayworth can’t count.
He says in his 6th paragraph that there are 5 soapboxes, BUT only lists FOUR!
That bothers me that the first 8 replies did not pick this up.
I now wonder what JD has in mind for it?

He may not can count, I saw that error too, but it’s J.D. LONGSTREET, not HAYWORTH…

I SHOULD have said … 4 boxes! It seems age has stopped creeping up on me and is coming at a dead RUN!

Thanks, again, for all the kind remarks.

    What Bob Hall said!!

Some of us made the mistake in 1994 of sending a crop of young Prepublicans to Washington to change it. Then we all let out a sigh of relief and said something to the effect of “glad that’s over.” And went about the business of raising our families and doing our work and keeping our own noses out of other people’s business.

But what happened was that instead of changing Washington, the new rascals got changed BY Washington. We must be alert and not allow that to happen again! Yes, keep raising our families and doing our work and minding our own business…but remembering also that there is a fairly straight line that can be drawn from 1994 to 2008.

If the folks who are about to be elected (and if the lines at the polling places are any indication, there will be a lot of newly elected congress critters, etc.) don’t follow orders, fire them for insubordination. They are NOT our leaders; they are our servants! And in the words of Washington, government may be a useful servant, but it is a fearful master.

    Keep your powder dry.
