RINO of the WEEK Award

October 23rd, 2010 . by TexasFred
RINO of the WEEK Award

Soon we start Operation RINO Watch.

I am firmly convinced that on November 2nd the GOP will win a substantial majority in the House and possibly a one vote majority in the Senate. That’s also what the polls are predicting.

I am also convinced that the Conservatives of this nation are about to be screwed over by the GOP once the elections are done. I am certain that regardless of the numbers, very little will actually change for the better and I predict we will see a resurgence of RINOism like never seen to date.

I believe we’re going to see a ‘reach across the aisle’ that will make John McCain proud. I see a strong possibility that we’ll see elected officials that are, at this time, believed to be Conservative, turn to bi-partisan politics as soon as their seat at the dinner table is safe.

House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) said he’d work with President Obama to find areas of compromise, where possible, if the GOP wins back the House.

Boehner, the lawmaker who would likely become Speaker of the House under a GOP-controlled House, said that he thought voters wanted Republicans to at least try to find a way to work with Obama and Democrats on key issues.

Full Story Here:
Boehner ‘would welcome’ finding common ground

I don’t believe Boehner will be the only GOP member to immediately begin to look for that Will ‘o the Wisp known as *common ground*. If *common ground* were a reality, it would be in use today. There is NO *common ground* and ANY Republican that tries to sell that load of B.S. is the very reason this award is going to be given!

Folks, the REAL work starts the day after the election. On November 3rd we begin Operation RINO Watch.

A while back I had a similar award I was giving out, and I asked readers for suggestions as to who should win the award. It was called *Douchebag of The Week*. I got very few suggestions from readers, but I used the ones I received. Hussein Obama was, by far, the biggest winner, but after a short while I did away with the DOTW award simply because I was getting NO suggestions and every time I posted an new winner I was bombarded with email and comments asking “Why didn’t you award this to so and so?”

Frankly, I got tired of the 20/20 hindsight that so many offered.

It’s pretty easy to be a Monday morning Quarterback. Political commentators do it quite well, I like to think I have a flair for it, but with an award such as this, hindsight is NOT what’s needed, what we need is suggestions for recipients, backed up by cold hard facts, sharp eyes and a sense of political acumen that easily points out, or ferrets out RINO activity.

This isn’t about a list of folks we don’t like, it’s all about holding their feet to the fire. Old line GOP members, the young lions, the new kids on the block, ALL of them.

We hear the screeds about why a 3rd Party can’t become a reality, we hear similar rhetoric as to why we MUST retake and rebuild the GOP, well, here’s a chance for ALL of us to put our votes where our written word lies.

As soon as the elections are over, we ALL start Operation RINO Watch by doing just that, we watch every move the GOP makes, we hammer them on ALL fronts, and if the GOP comes up short, we make them painfully aware, they are currently enjoying their last, or perhaps only term as one of the members of Congress, Senate, state, county or local office they will hold.

Nominations will begin as soon as the new Senate and House are seated. Good luck to all and I will use YOUR suggestions, as well as making sure that YOU are given credit for that nomination.

But PLEASE, none of this ‘coulda, shoulda, woulda’ AFTER an award is given…

On Nov 3rd the GOP needs to become the party of “hell no” until Obama is gone.

RINO of the week. Great idea, Fred. How ’bout emailing a personalized certificate to the winner’s office so he/she can proudly hang it ‘pon the wall next to their Great American Poltroon trophy.

I would like to nominate Lindsey Graham for the (dis)honor of being the first recipient. He is a recent convert to “maybe climate change has been oversold,” but has historically voted with the gang of 14 on blocking the so-called “nuclear option” when the dems were filibustering conservative judicial nominees; he originally supported crap and tirade but has now backed off; he wanted to move Gitmo detainees to the continental US; he collaborated with Ted Kennedy in seeking amnesty for illegal aliens; etc.

However, if you would like to keep it closer to home, then I nominate Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives, Joe Strauss. Here is a RINO who needs no introduction.

    Keep your powder dry.

Well from the looks of things, we won’t run short of nominees… this being said this week!

…The Journal quoted Congressman Darrell Issa as saying: “It’s pretty clear the American people expect us to use the existing gridlock to create compromise… They [the American people] want us to come together after we agree to disagree.”

OK... I am trying my best to use intelligent language here and only am citing this as an example of what I will be looking for on the RINO hunt! But I went NUTS when I read this quote and my language did go to the side of colorful!!!! I would like to know WHAT PLANET Congressman IssaNUT has been on since this communist THUG was sworn in??? What does he not understand about the message? Obama's agenda must be STOPPED.

I think this is a prime example of what we need to be looking at and for and to go back to the sofa after the election and think all is well with our country is an act of stupidity IMHO. I absolutely agree with Fred, the battle has just begun after Nov. 2nd. Only the black flag folks, no quarter for RINOs and cowards.

Nominations open as soon as the new Congress and House are seated..

I like this idea for a couple of reasons.
    1. Doing a jerk/douchebag/idiot or any other award means it’s always a liberal that wins. And it’s really tough to out do Pelosi, Reid or Obama so they always get nominated…

    2. It means we are focused on the issues we care about. We hold our own accountable that alone lends credibility to arguments with the progs.

I gotta say this though as I said to Fred privately, although I could be wrong too I guess….

I truly believe it is imperative that we don’t jump the gun. Just because a candidate says “He will seek common ground” doesn’t mean he WILL sell out for compromise sake.

Boehner has stood against every liberpuke thing thrown on the floor and for that he deserves kudos. Saying “he will seek common ground” can be poli-speak for “As long as it’s on my ground”

Trust but verify. Right now we need to support the folks we are putting in the seats. At the first sign of an action that qualifies as Rino-ing….Support should be immediately revoked and we need to be loud about supporting the next guy in the primaries..

    One more thing:

“RINOWATCH” needs it’s own website. When I get some time Fred, lets talk about it…

I believe we’re going to see a ‘reach across the aisle’ that will make John McCain proud.

    Oh, God.

This is a good idea Fred, the GOP needs to learn that they cannot simply cave in to the Democrats after the election. If the Republicans win big in November it will be a message sent to the president; if there is to be any compromise it will have to be from the president and the Democrats.
The Republicans need to understand that they are on watch also, we will come for them if they go all RINO on us.

  9. comment number 9 by: BobF

One thing for sure, there’s going to be a lot of nominations and winners.

Compromise with Democrats is what brought down the Republicans in the past decade. A RINO is an enemy within the camp.

  10. comment number 10 by: TexasFred

Rob is right too, RINO of the Week will be a much broader target area, and as he said, DOTW was always Pelosi, Reid or Obama…

We can’t just start nominating either, we KNOW who the RINOs are right now, and if they don’t get voted out by their constituents, woe be unto them, but this is designed to be a ‘Watchdog’ idea, and point out NEW RINOs from the new crop of GOP that’s expected to come in this next election..

I am certain that we are about to have a *Target Rich* environment…

  11. comment number 11 by: minuteman26

Hope your wrong about the target rich environment when it comes to the rookies.

  12. comment number 12 by: TexasFred

    minuteman26 — So do I, but I have a BAD feeling about this…

  13. comment number 13 by: Vigilante

Fred, you and I both have a bad NAGGING feeling about this.
Everyone — well just about everyone, knows that the politicians are pretty thick skinned when it comes to pointing out their bastardiness especially after they win an election.

They all seem to have the same attitude afterwards as some other butthead we know that remarked………… “get over it John…. I WON!!”

What needs to be done if they don’t follow up on their campaign promises is, to hold their feet to the fire…….literally, or get recall petitions ready and throw the bums out.

  14. comment number 14 by: TexasFred

Vigilante — Fully agreed, the election just means we have to work even harder to keep these clowns in line…

And if America sits back and accepts whatever the new herd throws out there, if we accept the idea that ‘Well, they got elected, they must know what’s best for us’, we are SO screwed…

These guys ALL need to know, right from the git-go, they work for US, We, The People, and by God, we want the best they have or we kick their useless asses to the curb poste haste!

  15. comment number 15 by: HoosierArmyMom

Man, that is spot on Fred. Your new idea will help keep us focused on what needs to be done. Hadn’t thought about that until I read Robert’s comment, but it’s brilliant.

  16. comment number 16 by: Patrick Sperry

We need a printable version of the award so that we can mail it directly to the winners.

    Great idea Fred.
