On the 4th day of Kwanzaa, New Orleans gave to me…

December 29th, 2007 . by TexasFred

In the first murder reported in the French Quarter this year, the bludgeoned body of a 25-year-old woman was found early Friday underneath a wharf along the French Quarter riverfront, police said.

A 30-year-old man was arrested Friday evening and booked with first-degree murder in the beating death.

Shortly before 4 a.m., a homeless man alerted authorities to the woman’s body, which was discovered amid refuse under the Toulouse Street Wharf, according to a New Orleans Police news release.

She was later identified as Elizabeth Chapman, 25, of Vacherie, according to John Gagliano, chief investigator for the Orleans Parish Coroner’s office.

Chapman was beaten to death, he said.

On the 4th day of Kwanzaa New Orleans gave to me:

An astonishingly quick arrest, would it be out of line to say, GOOD JOB NOPD??

If this is the right guy, NOPD was really quick to make a capture, and as much grief as they get for NOT always getting the job done, maybe this time they need to be congratulated, just sayin’…

My own personal opinion is that the arrest was quick becuse he’s a cracker, and we do not ALL look alike. Probably helped a bit.

Could you imagine if all they had to go off was: His name is Terrance and a black male?

Good job to the cops though, although color doesn’t matter down there, it’s a color blind city after all, and when it comes to crime you shouldn’t profile a certain race in a God forsaken place such as NOLA. /sarcasm.
