House passes bill taxing AIG and other bonuses

WASHINGTON (AP) - The Democratic-led House overwhelmingly approved a bill on Thursday to slap punishing taxes on big employee bonuses from AIG and other firms bailed out by taxpayers. The vote was 328-93. “We want our money back and we want our money back now for the taxpayers,” said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif.

The bonuses, totaling $165 million, were paid to employees of troubled insurer American International Group, including to traders in the unit that nearly brought about the company’s collapse.

In all, 243 Democrats and 85 Republicans voted “yes” on the bill. It was opposed by six Democrats and 87 Republicans.

The margin of victory came despite sharp Republican attacks calling the legislation a legally questionable ploy to paper over Obama administration missteps.

OK, 1st and foremost, I have NO use for the Dems in the Senate and Congress, and many of the so-called Republicans, RINOs, those that are best classified as Dem Lite, and I am of the opinion that this AIG bonus brouhaha is much ado about nothing. Lets look at the big picture, these bonuses are approximately 1/10 of 1% of the entire bailout program. That equates to taking a dime away from a $100 payment to put in the most simple of terms. These bonuses, while I vehemently disagree with ANY failures being paid ANY kind of bonus, are simply a tempest in a tea cup.

All of the manufactured outrage in the media and on Crapitol Hill is, in MY opinion, nothing more than a smoke screen, designed to hide, or at least conceal to some degree, some other nefarious dealings that the American people are needing to be kept in the dark over. That is what I feel the Dems and all their outrage are doing. Hiding something. Something that is much more important. Something much more critical to this nation. I was talking to Bushwack from American and Proud earlier today and I told him this, the AIG outrage is a cover-up for something much bigger that the Dems are trying to fly in under the radar, maybe this is it:

The House passed a bill yesterday which includes disturbing language indicating young people will be forced to undertake mandatory national service programs as fears about President Barack Obama’s promised “civilian national security force” intensify.

The Generations Invigorating Volunteerism and Education Act, known as the GIVE Act, was passed yesterday by a 321-105 margin and now goes to the Senate.

House Passes Mandatory National Service Bill

This National Service Bill, and it’s assumed oath to Obama himself, and not to the United States constitution, a bill which, by the way, one of my readers misunderstood and mistook to be a part of the Oath Keepers post, and the oaths that police and military members take, which it is NOT, this National Service Bill is actually one of the most reminiscent moves towards the rebuilding of the NAZI Party and Hitler Youth that we are likely to see. I went on record with this on Nov. 2, 2008 when I wrote this post: What do you call Civilian National Security Force?

Under the radar? You’re damned right it’s under the radar! The MSM has all but ignored it. Obama wants his own civilian defense force, one that answers to him and HIM alone, Obama Youth! If this isn’t the move I am thinking it to be, God help us if there is something bigger underway!
